    Neil Craig

Hun reporting Craig to MFC http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/demons-still-in-race-for-neil-craig/story-e6frf9jf-1226151441800
  3. According to Andy Maher on SEN this morning Jonathon Brown gave a massive rap for Jade off-air yesterday.
  4. Yes we'll have to pay overs - $1.2M over 3 years and trade Petterd or similar, but doing nothing costs us so much more. Despite this year's disappointing outcome (we even under-achieved my modest expectations) I don't think our overall campaign has been seriously deralied - it's the Paul Keating year we had to have - now we've hopefully got a much more robust coaching team in place. Sure we lost Scully which will hurt but if we go all out to get O'Meara with the compo he could be making an impact in 2013 along with Jack Viney - think Cyril and Joel Selwood. If Jack Grimes can get on the park and we have Rohan and Jordie in the midfield together with a year older Trengove and Gysberts I think we can take sopme rapid steps forward. Kosi will be 31 in 2014 - we can be top 4 by then and contending - he might kick 2 in the last quarter of the 2014 GF to break the 50 year drought. That's the big dream to sell him, while the reality is he provides a bridge to contimued contending in the 2nd half of this decade.
  5. Yeah more ignorant [censored] ... In the 4 years prior to this year (13 games) he played 19, 22, 23 and 21 games.
  6. Mark Fall - Head of Coaching?
  7. Dream on!
  8. The very reason we kept Newton on the rookie list is to fill this need - that's how big it is - he was unable to do it. I'm no Kosi-lover but he's the best option - talent, price and availability wise for a burning need. He's not a "spud" - how do you explain the fact that he averages more marks and more contested marks than Chris Dawes? He's versatil - he can ruck if necessary and he's a great kick. The main knock on him from my pov is his defensive skills - I'd like to see him lay more tackles. http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/players/J/Justin_Koschitzke.html
  9. It's certainly a very challenging situation for Mark Neeld and the FD, better them than me. FWIW I think the coach and FD should appoint the captain at MFC - our players haven't earned the right.
  10. Nice get jcb! I'm tipping Leigh Brown for forward coach, no info basis at all.
  11. Howe Watts Sylvia Jurrah Green Davey Howe Watts Sylvia Jurrah Cook Davey Howe Watts Sylvia Jurrah Kosi Davey
  12. Joel Macdonald must be in the frame.
  13. It's the most interesting time of the year for me. The only time it gets more interesting is if we were playing in a PF.
  14. Why not? Cook v Harry Taylor with Scarlett coming over the top. Fitzpatrick v Chris Tarrant with Maxwell coming over the top. That's why not.
  15. Typical - how about reading the OP? He's there to provide structure until Cook and Fitzpatrick mature. He take more marks per game than Dawes - is he decent?
  16. Hell yeah - he's costing us pick 100 in the Rookie draft!
  17. Without a long target we can't play the style we want to play - no matter what it is. You have to have a long get out option otherwise you play predictable football and that;s easy to combat. Look at Collingwood finally using the corridor on Friday - it's a different example but the same concept. . Prendergast appears to be a good recruiter - we can have some faith in Cook or Fitzpatrick coming through to fill that role in future years. But we need a big contested marking threat now so we can drill the way we want to play. If we have faith in our developing keys I think we should look hard at Kosi - he'd be attainable at a reasonable cost in salary and trade and the Saints could be amenable, he's 29 and could play 3 years. He can ruck too. Kosi v Dawes http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/compare_players?tid1=113&pid1=200199&year1=2011&tid2=104&pid2=2007037&year2=2011 More marks per game more contested marks per game Rain down on me ...
  18. Kosi v Dawes http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/compare_players?tid1=113&pid1=200199&year1=2011&tid2=104&pid2=2007037&year2=2011 More marks per game. more contested marks per game. I'm all for pushing Jamar forward at times but he's not the permanent answer there, he's #1 ruckman, let's not break something that's fixed. Kosi is a bridge to Cook or Fitzpatrick and give us structure until then. He won't cost the earth - a non-essential player or 2nd rounder or both.
  19. They've lost Davis and they're gonna lose Tippett and Gunston - McKernan is just not going to be available.
  20. Kosi v White - they both played 13 games http://www.pro-stats.com.au/psw/web/compare_players?tid1=113&pid1=200199&year1=2011&tid2=114&pid2=2007132&year2=2011
  21. I understand that perfectly - but we can't wait 4 years to start playing the game style we want. That's why we went after Hale last year and why we need to go after someone this year. That's why I suggested Kosi in the other thread.
  22. Priority 1 for me is an elite mid to replace Scully - we're not going to trade for one - teams just don't trade them. Our best option is the draft and early in the draft. That's why the GWS U17 draft is so important. We need to slap out 2 compo picks down on the table there for pick 1 or 2 in that draft O'Meara/Crouch and hang on for the ride. You know for a fact that with Sheedy and Allan in control it'll be dragged out until 1:59 on the last day of trading. Next highest priority is a ready-to-go tall marking forward, sure Cook and Fitzpatrick may come through but we need one NOW to play any sort of flexible game style where we can go to a long option when necessary. martin just doesn't provide that threat. Dawes would be great and if we can get him for pick 12 plus then fantastic - the compo picks are off the table because they're locked up with the GWS trade. The only way dawes comes to MFC is if we convince him to by offering him twice as much money as he can make at Collingwood, say $2M over 5 years, then they have to trade him and we have a nice pick. Trading is the art of the possible though - I'd love Pendlebury or Goddard but it's not going to happen - maybe Dawes won't happen either. If it's not on then I'd be seriously looking at Kosi - he's 29 and can fill the role at half the cost in contract and trade price. If we can get Grimes, McKenzie and Bail on the park and with Trengove and Gysberts a year older to go with Moloney and Jones our midfield grunt is not dire - a Scott Thompson or Brad Sewell would be great but not essential - I think the tall forward is more important.
  23. And with their premiership stars I'm tipping their TPP is pretty well maxxed out - they can't chase a high salary tall - Warnock might be the best they can afford.
  24. Who knows what Neeld might think. He was Collingwood backline coach for 2 years with Presti as the pea, he might rate Warnock - he's meeting with the players today and could turn him around if he wants him.
  25. He's a PR genius devoid of any morals or memory - very hate-able!
