Let's see ...
- Jamar for Spencer because Jacobs spanked Spencer last week
- Fitzpatrick the goalkicker in for Green forward
- Tynan in for Strauss back - they're vying for that role.
"Strange and dumb" for you - but makes sense to me.
I like the blazers, the emblem and the "club secretary" - it differentiates us in the market.
Schwab did a good job of managing the Scully compensation.
We're out of debt and making a profit with "the worst CEO in history", imagine what we could be doing with a good one - hmmm that sounds familiar.
McLean, Hampson, Thornton, Russell ... no thanks.
It's line ball but my money is on Malthouse, Cloke and Carlton causing Eddie to choke on his weetbix.
October 19, 5pm - Close to Restricted Free Agency Offer and Unrestricted Free Agency Period.
October 26, 2pm - End of Trade Period.
Wonder when the compensation picks will be awarded - they'd have to be super-quick if the picks were to be tradable.
There's all sorts of rumour and innuendo ...
Initially it sounded like GC ND2 for MD1 Martin and MFC ND3 for MD2 Hogan. This gets us Hogan and Viney in the 2nd round.
That article suggests GC have cooled on their part (if they were ever warm!). In that case if we were happy with ND3 for MD2 above then the new opportunity is effectively ND4 for MD1. Maybe we think the player available at MD1 is better than the player likely to be available at ND4. The deal still prerevents GWS from nominating Viney - we'd have to be sure that GC wouldn't nominate him either for the deal to hold up. As AoB pointed out that's in GWS interests at least as much as it is in ours.
This trade is can't be assessed simpley on face value because of the Viney situation.
and Jack Viney in the 2nd round.
So it's really we give away 1 top 5 pick and one 2nd round pick this year to get 2 top 5 picks in next year's draft. Yep, works for me too.
I agree with Watts' described limitations - but players can improve in this area - although he didn't start from so far back, our recently retired Brad Green really improved in this area and became a courageous contested player, particularly in marking contests. In ground balls he also attacked the contest but didn't have the lateral movement or quick hands to extract himself from trouble that Watts has. I think at some stage Brad Green realised what was required to be the best player he could be - I admire that.
