  1. The general bleating and indignation of MFC supporters about AFL "unfairness" in the week we received pick 3 for Frawley is so predictable. The only thing more predictable is that someone will seriously offer a package of Blease, Strauss and Tapscott in a trade deal.
  2. Blues fan says 23 for Garlett + 28 - that's gold 28 to Nafan for The Prince Keep the Clark receipts
  3. Agree and Roos has a reputation for player redemption. I'm happy to draw a pattern through what's happened so far under Roos - Vince, Tyson, Cross, Riley - how are we going so far?
  4. Geelong's 2nd round 35 for Clark about right Probably not enough for Lumumba who finished 4th in Pies B&F Our 2nd round 23 too much for Lumumba So 23 + 35 for Lumumba + Pies 2nd round 30
  5. Exactly. And especially when his choice is between Geelong and Collingwood - two successful, well-financed clubs in Melbourne. If he had any ethics whatsoever he goes where MFC get the best deal out of those two. I'm well over him.
  6. Same as it ever was, it is the midfield, stupid. Back line looks good, forward line looks OK if Hogan can play. But we've only got 4 AFL class mids N.Jones, Vince, Tyson and Viney (apologies to Daniel Cross) when we need at least 10. Some more may come out of Trengove, Toumpas, Salem, Barry and JKH. Last year Tyson, Salem and Vince - about half our midfield - for 2, 20 and Sylvia (23) was an excellent return. This year it would be great to repeat that and if Frawley goes we'll have an even stronger hand - 3, 4 and 23ish. I didn't anticipate last year's deal, I expect we'll be working hard on something similar.
  7. I must be missing something - the part of your theory that doesn't make sense is how Dank could have thought that ordering illegal performance enhancing drugs in the name of a club in Australia's highest profile, peak sport would somehow obscure his access to them? That sounds more like erecting a neon sign pointing to the supply chain. A more likely explanation to me is the one put forward by McKenzie, that he didn't realise the drug he ordered was prohibited.
  8. You're suggesting that Dank's plan was to order illegal performance enhancing drugs in EFC's name and then on-supply them? Maybe he also have planned to hold up a bank wearing an Essendon jumper?
  9. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/vfl-player-wade-lees-cops-18-month-ban-for-importing-performance-enhancing-drugs/story-fnelctok-1226541380732 "Lees was then charged with "attempted use of a prohibited substance violation" and banned by AFL Victoria after Round 7 this season."
  10. A scan of a show cause notice was in hardcopy of The Age on the weekend. I can't find it on-line. Basically it said ASADA believe you were administered TB-4 by Dank (not Danks) by injection in his office between March and September 2012. The response is pretty straightforward: I was never administered anything by injection by Dank etc I was administered with THIS (some detailed list) by Dank etc I don't know what I was administered by Dank so it's quite possible it was TB-4 The ASADA evidence that will be presented to the independent tribunal is likely to run very closely along the lines of MacKenzie's article in The Age previously linked to here. Dank ordered TB-4 via Charters and asked how to use it Dank said "Thymosin" was key to his plan Players signed forms listing Thymosin and the associated dosage matched what Charters told Dank Dank told MacKenzie he administered TB-4 and later corrected himself
  11. That article is the sealer. Dank made a terrible mistake based on his hubris. That's why ASADA has recently re-interviewed Alavi and Charters - to shore up the evidence. Essendon FC and Hird know they are totally cooked and that's why they are resorting to challenging the process, not the evidence - they need that evidence disallowed because it is so damning. ASADA have thrown the Essendon players a lifeboat with the 2 years down to 6 months and as Redleg says, they'd be mad not to jump in it. I think there's justice there - while I agree with Deanox's excellent case that the players are ultimately responsible, I also agree with Bob's argument that they were horribly misled. The villain in this is Hird who has put his own reputation ahead of everything and everyone else.
  12. Compared with - Caro, brave and spot on: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/time-to-put-players-club-and-the-game-ahead-of-lengthy-legal-stoush-20140613-zs6zp.html
  13. Pedersen and Dunn are classic Roos mature project talls - LRT, maybe Ted Richards, maybe even Craig Bolton.
  14. OK then thanks, that's a relief!
  15. AFLCA votes - that's what I take notice of: Carlton vs Melbourne 10 N. Jones (Melb) 8 Frawley (Melb) 6 McDonald (Melb) 3 Grimes (Melb) 3 Yarran (Carl)
  16. In this very complex and challenging area it would probably be most straightforward to relocate a club that's effectively already under AFL administration.
  17. Jordie, Ro and Lynden - perennial whipping boys - instrumental in that victory.
  18. I think it's a great idea - I rate myself as a reasonably committed footy fan who knows most of the 45 MFC players by sight and all of them by number. But that recognition would vary from say 30 players at well-known Victorian clubs down to less than 10 players at lesser known interstate clubs. For example I reckon I didn't know who half a dozen Carlton players were on Saturday - I was asking my Carlton mate "Who's that (gumby)?". And there's a big set of fans less informed than me. Names on jumpers would be a big help for me.
  19. North Melbourne pushes for three games in Hobart
