  1. Can you imagine how the new member Orion will feel when he discovers this thread? I would describe it as the madhouse within the madhouse, disciplined by the "Governor" who has dubious control over it. Notice I didn't say "Moderator", it is unlikely this thread could be moderate.
  2. In a weird way (don't judge), I've missed your negativity OD.
  3. Interesting to see Matthew Buntine listed, I thought he had moved on.
  4. Mathew Richardson to provide special comments on Friday nights. That will be insightful. (where is the double facepalm emoji when you need it?)
  5. Just wait until you get a private message from BBO (Bitter But Optimistic). It wont be angry but it could contain a dose of "think right" or other behavioral advice. I would be cautious about following such advice. He has good intentions (sometimes) however he has been known to delve into some murky ....... suggestions. Welcome to the mad house.

  7. Gee we've moved on from the Board elections quickly.
  8. I'm not that clever, you'll see it coming.
  9. I've had people call me that, although the emphasis wasn't on the smiling part.
  10. Now this is what I mean my learned colleague. Far too polite and evidence supports the contention.
  11. If you're a Barrister, I contend you are not combative enough!!
  12. Schache can play back there as well.
  13. Had the President last year as well and other Board members have spoken there over the years. The Ryder room next door is also for Premium members but is mainly a stand up Bar and just does snacks.
  14. The players have always had a designated 2nd position and it only makes sense that they train/play in that 2nd role to understand it and more importantly the players around them can jell with them when in that role. When TMac went back in defence briefly last year it was seamless, just the way it should be. This sort of thing is what I will find fascinating during the season when combined with the strategic sub. Some teams will just opt for the sub as backup if someone gets injured, however I could see it being used in a variety of ways. Is it the stopper role? An oppo player gets off the chain and someone needs to sit on them. Harmes on the bench comes on for the second half to fill that role? Rivers as sub comes on to quiet a rebounding defender or to allow Gus time in the middle. These things have been managed by the interchange in the past but now we have a true break glass in case of emergency option. The permutations are going to be interesting.
  15. You need to spell it like you say it, with an "f"
  16. Almost forgot, you'll need to show your Premium Member card to gain entry to the Hassett and Ryder rooms.
  17. Mike and Ralph (The hosts) are the only ones I know of that have a reserved table which is against the window opposite the lectern. They sell raffle tickets from there and take Eftpos only these days. If you see a table with a couple of spare seats just ask if they're taken. Almost forgot, you will need to show your Premium Member Card to get into the Hassett and Ryder rooms.
  18. It also appears you only read half a post before launching into defence mode. I don't think I'm a fusspot, holier than thou, pedantic and a believer in paying attention to detail, yes. I tend not to suffer fools gladly either. What can I say, I'm a flawed human being.
  19. It might be called VFL but it's run by the AFL. Do you really think the Major sponsor of the comp actually does the fixture? If it's well known we play the Pies on the Sunday then why the mistake? My original comment is not about the person that made the mistakes. It's about the incompetence of management that doesn't have processes in place to check things. I guess a lot of people don't proof read these days do they?
  20. Yep, beggars belief and in another example of how competent (not) the people are running the show, apparently we play W'bee on Sat 27 March. Any sort of cursory check would reveal it's meant to be May. Anyone can make a mistake and they both start with "M" so I wasn't going to be critical. However we're listed to play Collingwood on Sat. 11 June, problem is 11 June is a Sunday. Doesn't anyone at AFL house know how to read a calender!
  21. Oh contraire, I'll have you know I'm very discriminating, just not on this thread ..... although that may be counterintuitive.
  22. I'm not sure it's his "shoulders" that are broad.
  23. Eeew, I wouldn't want to clean BBO's dunny with anything.
  24. Butlering is an admirable profession, if you play your cards right you might even be in charge of the maids.
  25. My thanks also @Deemist, it's a long listen and perhaps one for the car but I found some great insights. The ANB/ Spargo comment illustrates how some of the judgements of pundits on here can be so off the mark. The fact that ANB & Spargo didn't kick as many goals as some would like doesn't mean they will be replaced anytime soon if they are injury free and performing their role.
