  1. I listened to the May podcast today and laughed at he and Lever having to tell JVR to back off a little at training, in season, as they don't fancy anymore "corkies". Says everything really.
  2. I heard repeatedly during the week that Grundy had received the most "for" free kicks in the opening 7 games. The media went on ad nauseam about it. I should have known what the response from AFL House would be; 7 "against" none "for."
  3. Wouldn't surprise me if it has something to do with AFL rules.
  4. I believe it is only for the Sir Doug Nicholls rounds, that spans 2 rounds so all Clubs have a Home game during that time. During the AFLW season we also rebrand during the Indigenous Round. "Narrm will first feature during AFL Round 10, when the club travels to South Australia to face Port Adelaide. The Demons will then return to the MCG to host an historic match between Narrm and Walyalup, with Fremantle Football Club taking on the traditional name for the first time this year".
  5. Lot of bandwagon going on; "Barrawarn is the Wurundjeri word for Magpie, and the Barrawarn Program is the heart of the Collingwood Football Club's Indigenous partnerships, programs, activities and events". Although the cynic in me suspects some of this is not genuine (not the MFC programs, commitment and buy in). I believe this is all an important step down the right path and will be impossible for people to deny going forward. So over time will become much more than tokenism.
  6. Wondering why the facepalm reaction? Lord Neville is employed as their Forward Development Coach. Yes, he will have an influence on their culture because he is a quality individual. To be fair; CFC have taken steps to address their issues by copying what our Club has been doing for many years. Call me cynical but they didn't want to do those things, they were forced to. Thanks for your input into the discussion, my comment was about Beelzebub calling what our Club is doing, tokenism. Who knew that you would take aim at my off the cuff comment about Collingwood? Perhaps you need to reassess your comprehension skills and also do a little fact checking before posting. Go Narrm! Narrm Army! Narrm Army!
  7. What you brand as tokenism is irrelevant. If our indigenous players, their families and their communities believe the things the Club does and says are genuine, then it can have a massive impact (doesn't hurt when we're trying to support/ retain players of any ethnicity either). If Collingwood was doing something like this, then you would use that adjective. Most people would recognise their BS.
  8. Had to ring the Club over another matter and spoke to Jess who was deelightful and very helpful. I asked about the promo code and it's not needed, just keep moving on to the next field.
  9. Well I wouldn't argue that. Struck me that he just needed to be coddled by Mummy.
  10. Yes!! That's not luck however, that is about building culture and belief. As time goes by I hope Jones will be revered in the same way as Barassi and Flower, for like them, he set the standard that others must aspire to. I cannot help but look at the Jackson departure and think he will never understand what Nathan Jones's values mean and what influence that has on success.
  11. As a young 67yr old boomer myself, I would have pushed back past the plick in a very loud voice proclaiming "I'm next". Mrs Dw says I will get stabbed one day but I say "Fork Em". Oh, and sorry I don't care how tall you are!
  12. I think it should of read; "Hirdy would have pricked such an appalling team".
  13. So it matters to the SA Govt, as I understand it the other States are trying to climb all over each other to host the next one. So as I said; the crowds at the non SA team games don't matter. The SA govt would be well pleased with the amount of free media exposure this is generating.
  14. It's already a great success for the TV rites $
  15. Yes, but only half of us would be right.
  16. I think it's called strategy or a tactic perhaps but it probably illustrates my point about JVR. I don't want to see him play 20 games in the home and away as a 19yr old.
  17. I think we have been blessed at the moment by being able to experiment, blood and rest/cover players, without effecting the win column. Along those lines; I would replace JVR at some stage and bring in Schache, I'm aware we brought him into the Club as backup. I believe JVR is part of the future but as a 19yr old I don't want him beaten up by some of the bigger defenders, which is likely if we keep him in the side for too long. In part I think we have used Petty to help with this but I think Petty should go back eventually.
  18. While we're talking about that; does anyone know if there is a Dees supporter group in Sydney. The Qld supporter group is renowned for organizing pre and some times post game gatherings. Often with Board members, past players and the CEO in attendance. The last game I went to in Adelaide the Army also had a watering hole organised pre game.
  19. Flights and accom booked for 4 nights 5 days in Hobart already. Working on the Sydney game at the moment.
  20. To be fair, there are other adjectives that come to mind.
