  1. The proof will be in pudding eating on the following in about a month but; we looked like running a number of players through the middle and they looked like they knew structure and clearance tactic. I hope that is what we see against WB, BL and Syd because then it will mean mitigation of what we saw last year.
  2. Conflation. The Doctor delayed in getting some players in for post season surgeries prior to the 2019 season and hampered their preparation for that year.
  3. I remember talking about this last year and a few on here were lambasting me for suggesting that the club would be playing injured players. Happens all the time and we had too many of them and should have looked at who could be replaced. I hope the FD sees the depth in a better light this year.
  4. Ok, great… We need to stop looking at raw numbers of members as they are increasingly meaningless. And I am not olddee. But good chat.
  5. Raw numbers are pointless to look at now. The saints were selling $1 memberships last year. It’s about revenue. It’s about selling out Trident, Redlegs, et al. I think we do pretty well with that.
  6. $23m will literally earn a $1m a year sitting in the bank in interest. So sitting on your hands has its advantages.
  7. Probably earning 5% somewhere…
  8. I think they will go the other way and try to win the ball around the ground and compete in stoppages as best they can. Its up to us to punish them for that arrogance and dismissiveness. Taps need to hit hands and we need to win clean stoppages. Don’t care about raw numbers of clearances but we need to smash clean take aways with chest facing goal.
  9. That will be in my epitaph, layzie.
  10. Did someone in this thread really say I should be appreciative of McGuire giving us home QB for a few years? Ridiculously favourable draws, far less travel, etc. they got enough breaks to throw a few bones out. This historical revisionism is vile, nearly up there with those Americans that say “we never talk about the ‘good’ slave holders?!”
  11. Destabilising? This isn’t Panama in the 80s, it’s a good player that is sought after. With Oliver and Petracca signed up through the decade, and us being generally [censored] forever - we have zero frame of reference for how to behave when good players come out of contract. Its embarrassing really.
  12. Made that exact point so I am with you ill
  13. We played Frawley up forward and, I am told, we didn’t try very hard to keep him knowing we wanted to get ND3 as compensation. Much prefer to have had Brayshaw.
  14. To what end? ’So you will be comfortable with him going into the draft?’ ’Sure. Whatever. List Mangt is HARD! Lol srsly’ Just treat people with respect and people will want to stay. How the club handles things must be effective. Our generational players are signed up through the decade (Oliver and Petracca).
  15. Now who said that on here when the trade happened?
  16. You do realise every time you create your own straw man argument like what you have done with the use of that percentage - you lose people? So 54.3% of the members who bothered to vote rejected the resolution - why? What do you intimate on their motives by your argument above? The reaction of the board is to move on which is reflective of where the vast majority of their members were throughout this process. Time to do an Elsa.
  17. Cricket was bigger than baseball in the US pre-civil war…
  18. Why can’t he? Angus decided late. We have good players now that have 10 clubs in their ears at all times - we have to get used to that.
  19. Ta, Binman. I seriously hated being right. I just can’t see us being so inert next season so I hope it is over. And I hope it was health related and the FD was fixing bandaids so to speak.
  20. ‘Founding tenant’… Imagine the look of MFC people when the ‘founding tenant’ announced itself… Collingwood going for a weekend away “I claim this B&B as the founding tenant!” Collingwood arriving in Jan 26, 1788 in Botany Bay “I claim this land as the founding tenant!” Oooh, see what I did there…
  21. I will be looking at stats around defensive pressure and how easily other teams take it out of our forward line. It was an early indicator that we didn’t have it together last year where we slipped from the top 4 for forward pressure in 2021 to the bottom 4 in 2022. And the way we entered the forward line into the near side pocket was designed to mitigate that problem as it was harder for the opposition to transition out of the populated area. Let’s hope we back ourselves more this year to kick to lead and kick fat side to space.
  22. Not to be flippant, but they are going to listen to 90% of members who don’t give a fig about this stuff. Also, your last point, will they listen to to 4% or the 3.5%?? Creating your own strawman there…
  23. So she is doing Thursdays? Makes sense, C7 don’t listen to any fans - good, bad, indifferent. The hate for her is grounded in misogyny (some literally say that women shouldn’t be in the box, or that they hate her ‘voice’) and I know that possibly makes me a ‘woke feminist’ but it’s a fact - just own it. I will.
  24. @FearTheBeardfair enough, I was pointing my rage in the wrong direction. Just one of my bugbears. We need to get to the footy to watch this team.
  25. So now we are complaining about having away games at the G against big clubs because we can’t get in for free? Sorry to pick on you but I can’t stand this mindset - all we do is look for crowd stats and favourable comparisons to make ourselves feel better. We have generational teams in both AFL and AFLW and exceptionalism should be expected from fans too in this period. But we won’t. We just pick and choose don’t we. Plenty of excuses about…
