Joel Smith set to sign new contract extension.

The difference between handy depth players that know your systems and ‘list cloggers’ is not perception. Its ladder position. The effort required to replace where Smith is at the MFC and the role he plays, or could play, has little return on investment. We are not going to bring in speculative players the next 5 years - we need proven talent or proven role players. -
Yeah, we cost them a QF against the Lions in Adel. Doubt they would have played it in Mordor in front of zero orcs or people from Geelong.
-
Yes, because Sparrow, Harmes, and JJ (and up until recently Brayshaw) are mids that have been playing other roles so they can play AFL in our system. We don’t have replacements for Oliver and Petracca (there are none) but we have plenty of mids ready to jump in there.
-
Ah well, we need a spot to keep funnelling in younger mids through team. It’s hardly an expansive role, and we should overpay for a forward instead of a wing.

EXCLUSIVE: Sydney team leaving Sydney airport as we speak. Can confirm that they are flying Virgin and one player of indeterminate name ordered a coffee to be made far too late to accompany his teammates to the gate. Huge if true.
-
Maybe. But I don’t rate Meek on the little I have seen of him and I want 90 cents in the jackson dollar so to speak. If he is ‘worth’ 15 cents - I don’t want that diluting what we get back. What we get back has to inevitably replace Ben Brown in 2024 as FF in a top 4 team at least IMO.
-
It’s a decent idea. You would want a developing ruckman too for the games Ryder will miss.
-
@binmanis right, can you just calm down??
-
He replaced Daniel McPherson who they poached from us less than a year ago… I hope Todd knows this is a 5+ year job he has signed himself up for.
-
Best not to think about it.
-
Tsk, tsk. BBO’s always trying to get financial information…
-
I don’t disagree with you but given the choice between the mooted picks and players I would prefer to keep Jackson. So people are ok to be disappointed.
-
I haven’t wanted to jinx it but Coll could totally ride a wave and beat Geelong and then Freo could totally come over here and beat Geelong at the G with their system. I know what I am asking Santa for…
-
It would have to have been dicey for a moment there… I, on the other hand, only have 1 warning point. Most of my latent personal attacks on other posters are written in a way that go way over their heads…

Depth that you don’t have to train up on how to fit into the system. Also good for May’s development lol. Also, this makes me think Adam T is off to play somewhere. He certainly is good enough. -
Geelong to take care of Coll rather easily. Freo to smash the Dogs. Tigers in a thriller in QLD Dees by 4 goals over Sydney.
-
Yes, now we have jumped so far over the shark that we are angry about who leads this NON-EXISTENT TEAM
-
Good team. Who’s Captain?
-
Good pod fellas! Look forward to the preview for the Swans game. We are heavy favourites with those that put money on footy. Always a good sign that guarantees nothing. Sydney is a really good team that will have their moments but they can be beaten up around the ball and if we can extract cleanly we will beat them well. I love our scrappy, fighting forward line. Underdogs with plenty of talent and now a bit of stubborn fight to it. Really fun. It is our weakness but you watch that weakness kick 15 goals next week.
-
Roos brought that with him and this is the evolution of it into a pillar of high performance. Love following a competent club!
-
It’s ok. We can enjoy the next 5 weeks and celebrate a pretty hectic and hellish 3 years.
-
Pinch myself he’s a demon for 15 years

I feel for the guy. We moved in a different direction - he doesn’t deserve this. I heard he was good for us and drove some of that crazy trading that got us Oliver and Kozzie…
