Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
rpfc replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mike is definitely suffering from The Syndrome... -
A little hard to know the merits of a hypothetical trade in March... Depending on his salary, he may be good value in years to come as a periphery player, but yes, I agree that he has been frustrating. Not the only one who has to deliver soon, or continue to deliver. Dunn, Petterd, Wonna, Maric, Martin, Jones, Batram, and Warnock are under pressure for various reasons.

You're an excitable fellow, aren't you? We have unrealistic expectations. I'll finish the Muse song for those interested... Our hopes and expectations, black holes and revelations. Unless you tamp down the first two, you're going to get the last two.

Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week

I think people better get ready for a substance-less press conference. But take the kid on face value, eh, fellas? -
Then why did you mention it? I just think it is naive to believe this bloke is going to get us to where we want to be. He would be a cancer on the group. And Jim Stynes is not a cure-all for the woes of those around him.

When you are older and wiser you will realise that you have to do more than just kick goals and win a few games to be a net benefit to a footy club.
-
Roles should be better defined when we have our frontline 21 out there but it was dissappointing to see the lack of awareness of structure on Thursday. I will say this, as someone who has agreed that our pressure, and our risk and dare through other teams pressure has been poor - it had improved in 2010. I will wait for the season propoer to render judgement.

I think it's more about proper preparation when your injured. Having to worry about a press conference like the one he is about to have would be a slight distraction. That is an understatement... I'm going to take what he says on Friday at face value, without reading into it and giving what he says a hidden meaning or ulterior motive. Editing because if iPhone. -
Things stuffed - I can't move anyone into the emergency utility position. And there is a bullet point at the top of the page that says - "move someone into an unused emergency position." Annoying.
-
I have no idea whether my team is good or not but Gram, Shaw and Davey in defence would get plenty of the pill; Judd, Cooney, Swallow, and McVeigh should be consistent leaders in their respective sides, and Pavlich and Jurrah would be a chance to kick a few goals.

In times like these, Mike is just another Melbourne supporter being used by Gubby Allan. The things the guy did to get Buckley to Collingwood were Gollum-like. I'm with Nasher. -

Will someone just change the name on the thread - save us some time... -
Good work and it is important - there drafts were 99 and 01 and they got it done in 07. That is eight years. So if we were to follow - 2015 would be our year with a few years of being thereabouts leading up to it. But here we are in 2011 expecting to be thereabouts already. Our hopes and expectations... Muse fans can tell you the next line.
-
Pavlich and Judd. Nothing else to say really...
-
Do you hear that people? We have to start acting like beligerent fathers telling their kids 'are just not good enough' to make them push that little bit harder... Because we all know (apparently) that to get the best out of teenagers you have to talk like a f...wit at them.
-
In the post previous to this one you said you screwed up your most important pick... Maybe you should take some more time...
-
Go to bed people.
-
I'll say... IT says I have 19 hours to decide my next pick. I think I will wait.

I'm really struggling to follow the logic if the argument here. We are comparing 4 different players at different clubs in differed age groups because they all happened to play in similar positions while on our list? And we are arguing the length of their career from this point forward? And arguing over depth players is pointless.
-
So a 19 year old (I am going to mention it because it is an undeniably relevant fact) went from pretty good to rubbish in space of one game and you think that he deserves the rubbish that you served up in the past few days? Maybe more of us should be discussing your performance? You were pretty good a couple of weeks ago but the last few days have awful so I think you are a woman... Jamar is going to have a harder year this year with other clubs taregetting where he has the most effect. Maybe our players constantly putting it on his head wasn't the greatest idea? You put that quote from Jack Grimes as 'proof' that they 'really wanted to win' Thursday nights game when it was just proof that they want to win every game - NAB Cup or NAB Challenge. Essendon has beaten us (easily) in both competitions over the past two years and you know what that means for our fortunes in the season proper? Very little...
-
I was hoping for best available but with affirmative action toward talls. Why? For the reason Sylinator has already stipulated - we drafted "Morton and Grimes in 2007... Strauss, Blease, Bennel, Jetta, Mckenzie and Bail in 2008... and Scully, Trengove, Gysberts and Tapscott in 2009." It's not the clubs fault that fans aren't realistic about timeframes for development.
-
As seductive as the prospect of him at FF is - Sylvinator is right; he is a cancer on the mores of a club. We decided to go down a long term plan for long term success only two years and three seasons ago. Quick fixes like taking a gamble on Fevola is not a prudent move. Everyone loves to repeat what Schwab and Stynes say - that we are at 'Basecamp.' But we are then going to put in jeopardy all that we have put in place by getting a drunken, lout of a Sherpa to help us and crossing our fingers he isn't a massive distraction?
-
Without getting into the fact that he was a 19 year old forward with just 35 Inside 50s to 'play' with - you didn't just mark him 'harshly' - you were over the top, calling his effort 'sh!t,' prefering to defend those bagging him than the player himself, and replying to criticism of your bagging of Watts by saying that he plays like a 'woman.' By all means jump all over the second best ruckman in the game today after a preseason game. In another thread you said that unlike the corresponding PS match last year when we got belted by the Bombers - we really wanted to win that one. But Jack is intimating that they try to win every game - whether it is NAB Cup or Challenge (other than playing at Etihad and TV being there - I don't see a great deal of difference between the two. But by all means overreact and scorch the earth...

There has been plenty of it. C&B rantings come to mind immediately and there are piffly little comments littered throughout the wash-up of the Essendon 'coverage' on Land. And it's '...' not ',,,'...
