  1. What an argument! 'That journo is biased! You know what that means? Another journo should be just as biased for our cause!'
  2. Grimes is ahead of Scully and Trengove... This is a laughably pointless exercise, really.
  3. ...but will you all be grateful?
  4. He's not in the 22... He's just closest of the long shots on the RL to play a game due to our back-up ruck options. Doubt he will play, who cares.
  5. No way would you sacrifice a runner to get Newton or Martin into the game. Doesn't make sense.
  6. Gotta love the high and mighty attitude of those that think others are being high and mighty. All you are doing is casting doubts on a 19 year old's career. All I am saying is it is premature to do so. You can say what you like, and I can say it's not worth the internet it uses.
  7. Fun. Oh, and for those that think a ruckman will be a sub - unless we are subbing Jamar (un-effing-likely) we would stunting our run.
  8. He wasn't a 'pick 25' for a reason. He is talent but a great man once said - "For every inch over 6 foot, you give them an extra year." That man was Checker Hughes. So I guess you have to ask yourselves, not whether you trust Bailey's judgement, but whether you trust the judgement of Checker Hughes. And if you had to wiki his name, I don't care about your insights because you shouldn't be here. It would be like Americans thinking Lincoln was a founding father...
  9. That's too subtle. They don't understand.
  10. He's getting criticism for having this KPI and it is completely unfair - it is a no-brainer measurement of improvement - in tandem - with other measurements. I get the point of the thread. I don't think it is valid at all.
  11. Fixed. Had another player in mind (Mooney) as a late bloomer, but decided to leave him out. Grammar wasn't changed. I apologise to you and your family, I only hope you can move on because when we survive - we thrive. Good luck, and Godspeed.
  12. More the midfield not getting it to the forward setup often enough...
  13. I doubt you would have given Frawley's name before 2009. And there is the theme I keep coming back to - for these kids to show it in an AFL game they need time.
  14. When does a 196cm footy player reach his peak? And Watts has a little more talent than Miller. It's a pretty lazy example, and a sign of the Syn in my eyes. Could he turn out like a late blooming J Riewoldt or a 'god-like CHF' N Riewoldt or, frack, even a "I can't kick properly but that doesn't seem to matter" T Cloke? No he has to be likened to Brad Miller... Because if the worst happens - at least we saw it coming...
  15. Just one thing - this is a prmoted rookie position. He is unlikely to see any game time but he was the most likely of the unlikely. Especially with Campbell injured.
  16. OD - I guess C&B would be exhibit A to what I was referring to. First few games of 08 - thought Garland was the most delisted bloke in Delistonia. Now he is a KPB - whatever the definition - and I was wrong. Kids develop. Some fans don't.
  17. It was fine, I know what you meant. But others are very literal and will get on here at the time you suggested and claim that X player hasn't developed at all in 2010 after 4% of the season has concluded.
  18. C&B inadvertently alluded to the answer. The rebuild has allowed us to get those players. You just need to have the patience for them to grow up.
  19. I know what you are trying to say but a little more time, please...
  20. You're equivalency to Bailey wanting to 'win more quarters' was 'to kick more goals from outside 50 towards the punt rd end of the MCG.' One is a simple metric to focus the mind of the players and the other is a deliberately outlandish and obscure metric to confuse posters. Statistics in and of themselves are deficient, of course. But this isn't by itself. Bailey mentions quarters won to, as I said, simplify the game and focus the players. And he adds other measurements - like I50 discrepancy, consecutive goals against, and turnover-to-goal conversions are a few that Bailey harps on about. These stats are needed to measure progress and I think some of this ire against 'quarters won' is about a push backl against statistics in the whole. I think that having a go at Bailey for having a set of KPIs (even if you are criticising one in particular, because of a refusal to see the bigger 'statistic' picture) is misguided and unfair.
  21. He's taking the [censored], OD...
  22. The results do speak for themselves, some just don't want to listen.
  23. Starts?!! There you go again with the excuses for Bailey... What does it matter how we start if the middle and end isn't good?!! I'm sick of hearing about starts!! And wins!! All I want is Bailey to say 'we are going to win the flag!' and go out and do it!!
  24. Shut-the-frack-up. By a nose... (Taking the [censored])
  25. Because you would prefer it there than at the other end... Now we are to the I50 one?! That's a good one. We let Essendon have 60 a couple weeks ago, and had only 35 ourselves. !! Efficiency can be the problem of Mahoney, although we are reasonably efficient. Quantity is the problem of the midfield - they are lazy, and easily bullied into submission, and they are also young and inexperienced. But the amount of footy our backline sees is a problem, and getting and keeping the ball in our forward half is the next big challenge for this side. It's a huge hurdle.
