  1. Pontius Pilate said the same thing...
  2. At some point we are going to have to fire him... Lets not hire anyone. Save us all the heartache.
  3. I'm with Mitch. Language matters, and when people give their opinion as fact - my language becomes colourful... And then Spanish. Que? I'm in a good mood, sue me.
  4. There are some pretty good people down at the club.
  5. Yeah, I think our membership will be 40k+ next year with Roos. The numbers go up every year but 10k members is worth $2m+ with attendance at the gate incredibly dependent on who you play so I Won't go into that but selling boxes at the G has always been tough - I reckon that gets easier. Sponsors take less work to get but the value will only be marginally more than without Roos. I am doing some preliminary maths about the competitive advantage of this but it's hard to do without the data about attendances, sponsor money etc Jackson would know those numbers however and his actions tell me that not only is this a good football decision - it is a fine commercial decision.
  6. Adam retired, Scott is a young mid with a future (and a present). Should have used:
  7. You don't pay a years wage in one week. Our overhead each week will go up but revenue streams will start coming out of areas we didn't know existed with Roos on board. Oh, and more people might sign up and come to games if we suck less...
  8. Can I just say that maybe RDB worked... When he left we suddenly went on an era far more successful than the previous two decades. That has a lot to do with recruitment under his tenure but also intangibles like culture would have been affected. Perhaps he left a foundation that Northey brought to boil and we kept it warm with occasional tepid and hot moments for 20 years. I am expecting the effect of Roos to be felt long after he has moved on.
  9. Thanks Chook. We get it. You will find about 15k 'die hard' supporters in the same group; lapsed members who will re-sign when Roos signs.
  10. And probably doesn't like the fact that his Essendon supporting mate at the office is whispering into you ear... Thanks for telling us though!
  11. Stop there. We won't win today. We are just awful.
  12. I think that the 20 losses will take the gloss of the award initially... But congrats to Nathan, Matt or Colin.
  13. Culture and confidence. We still don't have a midfield and as Roos himself said months ago - we are still going to lose more games than we win. Randy Marsh from South Park after Obama won comes to mind...
  14. And they are both likely to be here next year. Both are best 22 with the list we have. I don't think more kids will help our kids develop. And unless Spencer is seen as the future and we find a small forward - they are going to get games. Guess it is up to the new coach...
  15. I get technical or I can talk about the 'spirit' of both deals - which was moving players for a pick that was not used on a player in the draft - a nothing pick. Pure happenstance saw us trade that pick for Rodan and then Port traded that pick for Stevenson and then WCE traded that pick for Morton. You can criticise the club for letting Morton go for nothing but leave Rodan out of it - we got him for nothing.
  16. Yeah, I mentioned that earlier. They look down upon this more than tanking for reasons I have bored people with since 2009 so I won't go into them here.
  17. Those worried about the $2m price tag - it is never as high as it is first reported - and we will get 10k lapsed members just from his presence and sponsors will come out of the woodwork to have their name on his left [censored] if he is coaching the club. He will bring in more than he takes.
  18. I know the feeling - if it can be actualised it will be a good day for the club. Certainly the best day since 2006, maybe since 1987. Or possibly earlier?
  19. It wasn't one for the other and you know it. We got rid of Morton for nothing so all you have to compare Morton to is nothing - no need to bring Rodan into it.
  20. How about this for a pebble: getting Roos guarantees nothing. We still don't have a midfield and established leaders.
  21. Yes, as another poster said - he is on the verge of signing or he is a complete [censored]. No-one is ever 50-50 on anything. If his family is ok with moving to Melbourne - and we can assume they are considering he rebuffed the Lions for that reason, then all we need to show is an ability to get a decent FD head and his choice of assistants. I had heard we were looking at assistants and that made little sense to me if you don't have a coach but perhaps we are greasing the wheels in the event Roos agrees to take over. With that in mind - our timeline suddenly becomes aligned with his decision. If he makes it on Monday, or if he makes it on Grand Final day. I don't believe this is already done; Roos doesn't seem like the person to put up with this type of game, and you can't keep a secret like this anymore. Especially with so many moving parts and the AFL's involvement and the fact they like leaking this type of stuff. I know that Sheahan thought he was undecided as of a month ago but had looked at our list and, apparently, remarked after a taping of OTC that 'the Dees list isn't that bad' without prompt, so he thought the Dees were a chance...
  22. We have contacts to get them into whatever they want... Like DemonOx said - why bother with all the 50/50 talk if he isn't moving towards coaching again. I am not convinced he is signed but I am convinced that PJ has been quiet because he has wanted to keep twisting Roos' arm. Those celebrating are being a bit premature though...
  23. WCE retirees: Embley, Nicoski, and Selwood.
  24. Gillies is 23. Jamar (30), Byrnes (29), Pedersen, Dunn (26), Bail (25), Sellar (24), Jetta, Gillies, Strauss (23), Nicholson, Blease, Tapscott (22), and Davis (21) make up our NQR contingent as of today with Davey, MacDonald, and Rodan retiring. Sellar, Jetta, Gillies, Nicholson, and Davis may join the three that have already left. I don't think it would be a massive issue to spend a few spots on the list on experienced players.
