Mitch Clark's 6 goals - how ... 'depressing'.
rpfc replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Life and fate are funny things - I think the club is better off with Lumumba in there than Clark, and I know it isn't an either/or situation. But maybe fate conspired to do it this way for a reason. -
Mitch Clark's 6 goals - how ... 'depressing'.

I will admit to be disappointed to see him kick 6, such is the human mind... But I quickly went to 'meh.' I mean, his character is a bag of cats, I guess there is no better place for him... -
Angus Brayshaw signs contract extension till 2018
rpfc replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
ND1 gets the same years as ND89. The worst teams have access to the best players for a reason - they should have them under contract for longer than 2 years. The Boyd situation a few months ago was ridiculous. Partnered with a rule that means that draftees have to a year (I prefer two years) removed from school and the worst clubs will have these players at 20-23 on a modest contract, unlike what Boyd is on, and to a far lesser extent what Hogan is on. -

To be perfectly honest I would want a kid taken at ND3 given an automatic 4 year deal anyway. The fact that Scully was OOC as a number one after 2 years is in institutional problem - high draft picks should have more guaranteed years. -
Open training miscommunication - another MFC unforced error
rpfc replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are large segments of the populace who still do not like buying things like that online. And as binman alludes, why have a tent at games or the family day if it is a waste of time? Merchandise is the same - you are more likely to buy if given the chance then not, right? So if you have 200 people who already have an inclination to buy something 'red and blue' it might be an idea to sell those 15 caps, 10 jumpers, and 5 hoodies. I don't think we are a club that can ignore that chance to sell something and ourselves. -

I hope so, Pman. The other way they could go if we start winning is to do even less now 'that the selling of the club is being done.' -
Yeah, we have thousands of lapsed members from the last few years - getting them back on board is the priority from what I have heard come from the club - well some of those are going to be at trainings and match sims.

Have you emailed him or are you like Lando Calrissian's personal assistant Lobot - implanted with a connection to Jackson? -

We signed up Viney two years before he came to the club... That might be considered more premature than this. -
I had Garland earmarked to be delisted a few rounds into 2008. They each have their own story.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AARON VANDENBERG
rpfc replied to The Red Fox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nice bit of trivia I forgot to mention. Ainslie's NEAFL Coach Chris Rourke was pushing the bloke to anyone who would listen and so he went off and made a bloke listen - he rang up one George Stone (known from footy playing days down in Vic) and told him about Aaron. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that Stone is the reason Aaron was given his chance but its a nice little story about recruitment that you rarely see anymore; former fat kid from Tathra gets recruited from non-football heartland after call from coach to a wise old bloke at an AFL club. -
Shades of Dr Who/hoopla007...

Yuuuuk.

Some can walk and chew internet at the same time...

So if the club gets 'sidetracked' it is our fault? Demonland? My god this place is getting eating from the inside out of late...
-
That's one way to raise money... Jeez.

It's hardly mutual - here we are still wasting internet. Here we are... Here we are in a "how many games (or performance levels) is enough to be a 'pass'" thread and, from perceived negativity, you have attempted to argue that the supporters of this club are destructive, their opinions are not valued by the club (due to their negativity), and alluded that the AFL stepped in to appoint Jackson and a handpicked board because MFC members are too negative/stupid/destructive (or all of the above) to make proper judgements on people. I am Mr Conciliatory around here, so I am happy to forget the awkward distance-related 'barbs' and the oh-so-hurtful post count reference, but what I would like is for some substance to your allusions, otherwise people will think they are illusions. Please answer your own rhetorical questions;

I was wondering whether you were worth any more text. ...

You are all over the place. The name calling is as borish as it as ever been but don't tell me you want positivity and the truth. Sometimes it is an either/or scenario. Demonland is a reflection of the Demon community - warts and all. And the best of us, and the best in us is pretty bloody good. Is the club seen favourably? This community has always been welcoming and continues to grow the number of people that post here or simply read here. You are doing your bit - giving your opinion, and I am doing mine - telling you it is misguided. We are ready and willing to be a positive force or nature us Melbourne supporters - its about time the club ignited that optimism. I hope it is in 2015.

Steady on.

What change? Toumpas was rated in the top 3 talents all year according to the 'experts' and then GWS took the Vic boys because they fear losing their players unless they have a pre-existing relationship... When Toumpas became available we took the 'better' prospect. Wines was a highly rated junior and is easily the better AFL player. There are so many holes in selecting talent at such a young age it would be laughable if it weren't so painful...

This place is full of that 'fantastic core group,' and we don't need sermons about bitterness and club destruction. Barrassi loved a saying "if it is to be, it is up to me" and that 'fantastic core group' have lived that saying and has kept the club in the future tense of that idiom.

Hogan will be paid $1m+ in 2018 if he stays upright... It pays to be 6'4 and a talented footy player these days.
