  1. Means as much as his demeanour in a press conference...
  2. Hi s demeanor on field needs reigning in, as a captain or coach I would make it my duty to make him realise how infuriating it is to play with someone more interested in a free than the footy. When he has some banter with Schwarta - that is great. He had no right to be called disgraceful, and David deserved a little dig. Hogan doing the digging was a good sign he is becoming more comfortable off the field. Roos letting him (and us) know that he still has to learn the habits of a star player was to combat the hype. 'Second year blues' occur when a young player thinks he doesn't have to work for the game and the game will just come to him. Hopefully, yesterday was a lesson for Jesse in that regard too...
  3. It also happened to be the first time we married quick ball movement with an entry into Hogan that was in space and he was favored by.
  4. Worked his way into it, well done to the coaches with getting him up the ground, really needs the forward line to himself though. Frost and Pedersen don't help Jesse at all.
  5. Jeez, he looks good... Very exciting next few years for our midfield but more immediately - he is a big chance for GWS.
  6. Yes, we used the new rules to our advantage and were ahead of the curve. That felt strange to type...
  7. 1. 2 years is 1 year? Ok, then. How do you argue with that? 2. Hearsay. And what targets were those? Coz they wouldn't have been stratospheric if we 'hit them'... 3. Hearsay that they listened to deals. Hearsay that they 'strung us along'. 4. The salary cap will (in my estimation) jump $3m. That is how big the TV money increase can easily handle. Hogan's 2015 was a taste of what he can bring, and if you think that a million a year is a good deal for him for his peak years (and there will be plenty) then you are not reading the tea leaves properly. He is worth ~10% of the cap right now (that is $1m btw), if he stays being worth 10% in 5 years that would mean he should be paid $1.7m. To sign a (crazy) long term deal is not in his best interest.
  8. Some of your neuroses are showing again people. If we want to keep players of his ilk then acting like he will leave will not help. He has 2 years left FCS. Some of you are so effing embarrassing... Start winning some games and offer him his rightful amount and he will stick around to play with the talent we have surrounded him, and he has bonded, with. PS. I have talked about this previously but the AFL salary cap is about to have the biggest jump in history - FYI. Read into that what you will, or just continue to hand-wring.
  9. I don't see BBs posts. Mainly because of reasons like what you are referring to - getting paid a commensurate wage and playing in a winning team is accusing someone of being a mercenary? Good lord.
  10. Well, there you go - the path to empathy; treat all posters you disagree with as you would your half-cut self...
  11. But you can retract a scrubber. Scrubber - Yes. Simpleton - No. And while I look forward to the snide - isn't it easier to understand where mo64 is coming from when you were once there?
  12. So Hogan will stick around because he likes coffee? I get the 'travel with a bad back' reason but the things that will keep him around are money and winning.
  13. ...extended a couple years ago.
  14. If we draft a Casey player in Feb onto the Rookie List - they will invariably play for Casey...
  15. I don't see why you won't let those that administer those ethics do their jobs as the CAS has? It has taken an effing age but the players have reached their point of judgement and justice and they will pay their penance. I think it is naïve to think you can apply such universal and holistic punishments. Jake Melksham is hardly Lance Armstrong. And Jake will serve his punishment and the effects of that judgment and punishment will reverberate into the future and affect the rest of his life. I see no point to stick the knife in further.
  16. I think your view is violently reasonable. I don't see the need to condemn so universally and in perpetuity. Life (and footy) is not that simple.
  17. It's a shame whether you think he would have won it anyway or whether he 'cheated' someone else out of it. It's bad for footy, for careers, for the legacy of great players (who were great before these so called performance enhancers were used), and for the real culprits in the Essendon footy dept.
  18. Well, in theory, we should have already 'scoured the country' for the best players to put on our list. I have no problems with the filling of spots through use of the Rookie List for PA, StK, Melb, and WB.
  19. Nothing is ever black and white. I don't see the players as drug cheats - I see them as idiots who should be more sceptical and less trusting of sports administrators with needles and no explanations. Call Essendon what you like. But Watson will lose his Brownlow and that is a huge shame - you think I am going to see him as a 'drug cheat' and all the connotations of that label when his career is done? No effing way.
  20. Well, this isn't great, and would we have done this deal if we knew he would miss a quarter of his contract? That's hard to say. I take solace in the issue being a broad one with Essendon, Port, and St Kilda dealing with more headaches than us... And just like we can't ignore that this is a massive setback for our player, it doesn't give a final determination on that trade either. How history sees this trade is a few years from being written definitively. Hasn't started well though...
  21. I am glad he knows leading patterns - he is going to need that knowledge to be useful in a forwardline that is tailored to someone else. He won't just sit in the square.
  22. Same are quite obsessed with number 4...
  23. Dawes is a suitable bridge to Weideman. He will make him earn his games and allow him time to build his fitness, frame, confidence, and game.
  24. Yes, Dom Tyson is a very good player. Viney is the best inside midfielder at the club.
  25. Viney sprinted past Tyson in 2015 and eclipsed Tyson's 2014 with 12 CPs to 9, 6 Clearances to 5, and the general fact that if no-one gets between Viney and the footy. Put Tyson in a room with Viney and a Sherrin and he wouldn't see it.
