I much prefer this structure of the bye before the GF. The Dogs have earned the week off. And we should have the GF with two teams gearing up for it and as healthy as they can be. The pre-finals bye is just a cash grab for a Thursday night final you can only do in that first week. It should go and and I hope the clubs gang up on the AFL to get rid of it.

Mussolini: “the win wasn’t bad I guess…”

Of course we got the hardest match up with the best midfield, with the best FF in the game. It’s a Grand Final FCS! They have the deeper midfield but we have a better defensive set up. We are not a one man band in defence like Port but we are susceptible to incisive kicking and that is what the Dogs are great at. We bring our pressure and convert - we win. But flags are earned - and 2021 will be thoroughly earned whoever wins.

Surreal.

That's just fan sentimentality - he won't want that medal. He would want his mates to win and hate the fact that he missed it by THAT much. It's ok, it happens, we need to make sure that we win and make it as cruel as possibly can - Nathan would want it that way.

I am happy that Garry is there because none of us can be - here is an icon and is now an avatar for Melbourne fans who have been through more than we should gone through. He is a tad embarrassed by his opportunity you can see it on his face but I don't care - it was great to watch last night; it was cathartic. Would have hated to have some Perth no name talk to the players after the game asking stupid question-statements. I hope he has an amazing GF experience - I will be living it through him on TV and through some of you that are WA based.

3rd. He stopped entirely. It was arrogant and he delayed the kick to let the bloke flail about. The crowd lapped it up. It was great.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
rpfc replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
3AW just did a great interview with Ben just then and talked through his change in how he played and his role and his own belief in himself. The club seemed to believe in him more than we did and even perhaps more than he did. Well done to the club for having a plan and executing it - he was great and is a point of difference for his going into Sept 25. When he has a run and jump at the footy he looks like he takes it 15 feet in the air. -
It's relevance is to compare the similar humiliation we have inflicted upon Geelong. This is their nadir and I love it.
-
Wow. Just show some humility and so you were wrong. For your own good and your demon soul. You are acting in an 'olisik' type fashion and you don't want that d3165, you don't want that. rp

He is a weapon forged for the crucible of finals destined to be utilised to devastating impact when the intensity is at its zenith.

Well said, @Jaded. I can also feel the nagging hurt under the exuberant joy. It's not hollow - it's full. Full of pride and appreciation for the players and the fans that could get there, for the Perth community that obviously chose the world of men and righteousness over the Orc and goblins of Mordor. I am sad for myself and my dad and for you, and Nasher and Andy and 55 and Redleg and WJ and those of us that have spent draining years, talking amongst each other when the club was irrelevant and nowhere. Now it's everywhere and at the height of its relevance where our spectators are incapable of even enjoying it together in person - let alone at the ground. But we get to see the Demons run around in our jumper in the last Saturday in September and it is something to cherish. And we will be doing that together...

I have always stayed true to this player. What a warrior he is. A footy players footy player. Amazing.

When you are right, you're right. And when you are wrong you're @demon3165... Rugby players don't play like that.

Someone do the rounds tomorrow please (later today). Not to enjoy it. No, not to enjoy it, to ensure that they know that this is the end. If they don't know...

Posted September 3 Time to end it. For all the footy lovers in the world and all the hobbits in the shire. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lyon: What fairytale flag would really mean for Dees
rpfc replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because I will probably read of this to my little one assuming it all goes well… -
The box ticking was from his psychiatrist to approve a move to Carlton and sign of on his mental health he had to meet with a well run club so he could ensure he made a rational decision. They are tricky them shrinks…

Sam M is a lot better than Browne. I am biased because I know Sam but he is pretty good IMO. He is also cut from the Caro cloth of destroying his club when they deserve it as he has done with his beloved Blues.

Hibberd is an upgrade offensively and with decision making. Not defensively, but we should be able to cover him. He also looks to get us going when we fall back into boring footy. Not as much as Hunt but it’s valuable. Ultimately, this will be decided by the best 12 players on ground.

Yes, they are a team that planned for the pre-finals bye. They will start well and I expect Selwood and Danger to will themselves to dominate the clearances early. We need to weather that and counterpunch with quick movement. Get them late in quarters.

Your first MFC Game/Best MFC Game/Worst MFC Game
rpfc replied to Ingerson27's topic in Melbourne Demons
First game I can remember is 94 Semi when Garry kicked 10 to 3 qtr time, I was angry that Balme took him off and didn't understand why he was not going for Fannings record. I was 9. Best game would be the 00 QF final comeback against Carlton closely followed by the 18 EF against Geelong - mainly because we had waited so long and we were so good. Worst game - there would be many I have chosen to forget - I remember coming down for the game just before Neeld's nadir against Essendon in 2013. The first game against Port I think and just comparing the teams as they warm up and having this sense of dread: "uh oh" I still vividly recall just watching the Port mids running through their centre bounce work before the game, and then they ran through similarly during the game... -
Disagree, I want to win a flag in the next three years. Gunston would be perfect for our quick turnover game plan - he is so smart. Mids we have.
