Geelong had stars up and down the field and they were cocky too. Scarlett, Bartel, Ablett, Hawkins, Selwood, Enright, Kelly, Corey, Taylor. Systems make you competitive but stars win you flags.

Niall is more clumsy verbally than written. I am the same. Petracca, Oliver and Gawn are in top 5 players in the league atm and they know it. As they should. It’s the flip side of expectation and I hated Geelong for it. Think I might enjoy it from our Demons though…

What an awful quarter of football. Disgusting to watch.

Of course he did. Cue @Clint Bizkit Also those talking about him being ‘cancelled’; he is experiencing ‘consequences’ not cancellation. Some of you are even alluding to saying things like this in your past. If you still think that talking like that about a colleague, or joking about blacks, gays, and women being treated worse than a white man should not see consequences then you are a dinosaur and your value is to museums and oil concerns.

This cannot be the measure of commentary for a TELEVISION broadcast. I can see where the ball is, they need to add to that. At the moment most subtract from that. Martin Tyler was a great commentator of the round ball because he would allow silence, the roar of the crowd, and the vision aide his commentary. They should study that.

Why can’t parents use the internet and but merch and memberships? I don’t buy this ‘more saturdays for kids to get there’ as a spur for that stuff.

I love that we won being a bit sloppy on the back of some confident ball movement, Petracca, Brown, and the pluckiest backline this side of the Thames! But the real story for me is the Dogs - they are not what we all thought. They do have too many front runners and I can see how Macrae and Hunter fighting over the cheapies out the back can become tiresome. They need Smith to become a bull now to help Bont or they won’t beat us or BL or the best teams.

It’s like the appendix of connective tissues.

Maybe in Round 1… Although we were down to May when Lever and Salem were down. He did well.

“Sound the Alarm” The Goody Mic'd Up Documentary
rpfc replied to Dee Zephyr's topic in Melbourne Demons
I coached from the boundary too and I found it really good at keeping your emotions in check and staying positive because you were a minute away from seeing your best players come off and could have a chat and look them in the eye. Which is the most important thing a coach can do while the game is live; impress upon your best players as the come for a rest. Yelling down the phone is just the worst. -
Not in round 1.

“Sound the Alarm” The Goody Mic'd Up Documentary

This makes sense. Why would it be so silent if not for the audio being withheld. Shame. Libba deserved a public spray for his refusal to sweep in the centre at the end of the third. If this were the NFL - he would have been roasted for the last 3 months. -
That backline still has its three best players and the others are ‘replacement players’ (US sporting term to denote those that are just as good as ‘the next man up’) with the exception of Petty for Smith. Interested to see what they do with Bradshaw and Harmes. Both don’t like playing out of position but one can contribute and the other waits for Viney to get hurt… Strong team and we should win. Looking forward to tomorrow. See you there Dees fans.

Niall kept on saying we were cocky and he liked it. It was getting weird in there. I honestly like that podcast but they don’t know what to do out of season. Only Caro is comfortable in that sphere. The other journos are trying out their ‘takes’ but their knowledge of teams is a mile wide and an inch deep. You can hear them scraping the bottom of the barrel of their knowledge - it is defeaning.
-
Imagine the equivalent ‘what they’re saying down at Demonland’ thread… “they seem to be fascinated by a Carlton player and the machinations of a trade that never happened.” ”well at least they ain’t obsessed with bananas like they was a few years ago!” ”that rpfc is astute! If I knew what that word means”

That was more like the NFL Films version and had Goodwin mic’d up like in the NFL. That was great. And not that I read too much into Roffey and Goodwin exchanging congratulations but she referred to the start of the year and where ‘we could have been’ and I, again, thanks god that we have a strong board and specifically this strong woman to get rid of the cancer before it destroyed this man and this team and pushed this club off course.

Let’s get meta-physical… I think we are a different club if we win in 87. I can see us being comfortable with mediocrity a little bit longer. We needed to get to rock bottom to get to the end of 2013. Would that have come if 26 years earlier, we snagged a flag after being in the wilderness for 23 years? My worry is sometimes you can be fooled by the exception that occurs and convince yourself of a different reality to the one you live in. Would have been a fairytale finish for Robbie but as we know - fairytales are fairytales for a reason.
-
I think that is a safe assumption. I think that is really good for the alliance. The Casey boys probably aren’t happy about the 3 or 4 ring ins but when that covi-tunity strikes White or a couple others will get a game in the big show.

Mithen needs to have Mark Williams in her ear - she could be something special if she made better decisions and executed her short kicks better. Libby had a mare in her 50th. Just looked in her head all night. Maddie Gay and Colvin bailed out the backs a bunch. That game was probably good for them going into the prelim.

Stars wins flags. Our depth was sheltered and protected all year because our best players were healthy and in form. Depth is such a red herring to win the ultimate prize.
-
Seriously, who cares? Also, one year, if Jackson is as good as I think he is, Gawn will be eclipsed and will move off to the undying lands… … the forward pocket next to Fritsch.

We shared Jolimont with possums. Storm and Rebels and Victory are fine.

Ah yes, the interweb; the communications array the North used in the US Civil War. Often mis truths ran through there. Good quote, jnr. Good quote.
