  1. I just like alliteration…
  2. What are we doing on here then? And you of all people are comfortable with making assumptions of the program. We have been straddling the line playing players with niggles who shouldn’t be playing. I am comfortable saying that playing injured players is fraught and, at times, reckless.
  3. Again, there is no veteran discount. We would pay him $650k in your scenario until 2027. That currently is just under 5% of the cap of $13.5m. A gamble we don’t need to take.
  4. Difference is we are coming off a season that lasted an extra month and players played through more in finals because that’s what you do. When I went and saw Rivers and Salem hobbling in Round 1 I knew it was nonsense. There is resilience and there is reckless.
  5. Yes, I believe it builds ‘resilience’ according to some nonsense that got regurgitated on here.
  6. All I’m asking is who is in the team!
  7. There are no changes.
  8. I can see that, but what are the changes?
  9. Yeah, I was never too fond of this desire to play JVR. It’s the hardest spot on the ground to play and we are really struggling to spot up leading players or even players in space. Don’t think he would be setup to succeed.
  10. Hey guys, umm could you be more aware of the free bloke in our forward line? Look a bit more laterally? Ta.
  11. They want to clear $700k from their cap. We GET the 2nd rounder, not give it up… This is a classic NBA salary dump. They pay, we don’t.
  12. I hope this is just due diligence. I just don’t see how tiring up that much cap for 5 years is worth it on a 2nd ruckman. And I know what the intention is with Gawn to be predominant forward, but what do they say about plans when it meets the enemy? You have to trust this FD but, yeah, I would kick those tyres and then say no thanks unless the Pies want to bend over.
  13. What does Luke say about Planets? Also, should you be pulling from the Book of Luke? Bit on the nose?
  14. At the moment, Grundy's contract is an albatross around Collingwood's neck. I am not so generous a man to relieve that suffering without a few certainties; he can recover from his injury, we don't take on more than half his wage, we give very little in draft capital, and it doesn't impact our ability to get a Georgiades/Naughton/ready to go tall forward.
  15. The sky went blue eventually. Hope it stays that way for a while yet.
  16. This place was called ‘Strawberry Fields’ by the carnival barker TGR two decades ago so I don’t know about that…
  17. Yeah, it was ‘is the sky blue?’ Type thing IIRC.
  18. I have been saying similar things when we were 10 and zip - not exactly our blasting away, but the rest of it. We flirted with our form IMO and we are paying the price.
  19. I would t go holistic but I would move Sparrow out in favour of someone who is a forward. With Brayshaw there, it makes his primary function a forward more and more. Harmes struggles to play roles other than mid or run with roles. Maybe he can find a place. I would want to see Chandler but I also think Melksham has made us better up forward… ANB won’t be dropped IMO. But he needs an understudy for the work he does for the mids around stoppages because his decision making has devolved. But really, moves those deck chairs around all you want - Oliver and Petracca need to calm down and go short or hit space and trust their teammates or we are done.
  20. I am sure not having a Curnow or McKay impacts their options - however, it has to be direction for them to pump it into the pocket. They are too good to be so blasé and hamfisted for that much of the game. They don’t want to attempt the hit up to avoid being smashed on the turnover - however, I would argue that they are weighting that pocket kick too heavily. They need to use hands or lower eyes and into the corridor. They leave so many lateral kicks on the table and it looks rushed. And the flip side to the ‘our talls ain’t great’ is the question of - if that is the case, why are we so keen to pump it in there? Spargo dwells on the footy and waits for an option and it is damning his much more vaunted and celebrated teammates.
  21. A lot of people will waive those numbers away because CP5 and CO13 get a number of clearances but just watch them game to game stride out and boot the shizen out of the ball to the pocket. Its horrendous footy. As an aside, Sparrow kicking to a Demon in the 50 only 7% of the time is diabolical. He spends most of time as a HFF! Everyone else are mids except for him and Mr 46%.
  22. Maybe they have a lisp
  23. Yeah, I write as a blend of fandom and on field. It’s a joy, just enjoy it. Although we did get a glimpse into our arrogance and condescension with Ed Langdon’s opinion of the opposition as limited, and his confidence of being able to shut off their limited play by proclaiming it to Andrew’s Maher and Gaze. While I can’t confirm our complacency, I have been seeing it with my lying eyes the entire season; the 10 game winning streak of playing half a game or less, the direction of the coaching staff to not bother with forward pressure (you don’t go from top 4 to last because of anything else) and to just let the opposition to ‘crash against the rocks’ across our half back line… Do we know what happens to rock when enough water hits it? We have been flirting with our form all year for reasons that I can glean but they are reasons that don’t respect our opposition and how hard it is to maintain this kind of form.
