I’d avoid the “late trade” if you get defensive about the media laying into us Barrett and Jenkins absolutely can’t stand us.

If Richmond think we're a genuine bottom 4 side next year they might go for it. I don't think the club were all that desperate to win the game given the draft order at stake, compared to the relative hunger that Collingwood showed. ANB squibbed a contest early (at least by his high standards) and I thought that set the tone for the rest of the evening. GC certainly made it interesting by not thrashing Richmond as they were close to finishing below us on percentage.

That would be disappointing. Trac's at his best as a mid, and we're at our best when he's in the midfield. If Trac was going to kick 5 every week per the Carlton game, I'd be all for it, but that's not going to happen.

Barrett's an unequivocal North supporter. He puts a ton of [censored] on them, but he is a North supporter.

27 goals in the first half of the year. 14 goals in the second half of they year. Six of those coming in two of our rare second half wins. Definitely a proven correlation between us winning and Fritta hitting the scoreboard, bar the odd exception eg - 4 goals in the Sydney loss. Conversely 0 goals in wins over North and Dogs. If we're to bounce back next year, Fritta needs to hit the scoreboard again as our forward line gels better when he's far more involved as that lead up forward that is hard to match up on. Think about his dominance of Sicily in round 2. For that to happen, do we play a smaller forward line and remove one of Turner or Petty from the forward line? I felt as though once we settled on the JVR/Petty/Turner trio from mid season onwards, Fritta's output reduced significantly to the point where he was chasing kicks on the wing in the final game and looked a bit disinterested to be honest. Thoughts on how to best utilise Fritsch and our overall forward line structure next year?

Pies will definitely be giving up more than just John Noble for pick 13. Not a chance a turnover merchant in Noble is valued at pick 13 alone.

Definitely a player that has improved year on year since 2020, and is in career best form. Disappointing, but every club loses a best 22 player here and there. GWS have been smashed with Perryman, Cumming and possibly Peatling.

Do we as supporters blame injuries too much or do we not have the adequate depth of a Brisbane? In 2024 the injuries did start to pile up by the last month of the season, but in 2022 and 2023 we only had 2 or 3 best 22 players missing, and still had the elite of the elite in the side - Gawn, Trac, Oliver, May. Brisbane just won a flag with the following players out: Coleman - super half back flanker with an elite kick and was one of the BOG in the 23 GF McInerney - starting ruckman. McCarthy - capable 30 to 35 goal a year forward Gardiner - not a particularly great player but was cemented in the best 23 as a third key forward before injury.

We got 32K in round 17 against West Coast off some patchy form. Wouldn't be impossible to get an extra 3K in the same time slot given the opening game always generates excitement. Or perhaps everyone that was on the fence about attending that game attended, as compared to the later GWS and Port games where many people erred on the side of staying home. If we get the Dogs for the fourth year in a row for round 1, then clearly it's high on our request list.

I see what you are saying, but everything that can go wrong when playing Collingwood goes wrong. We even lose a player to suspension when the oppo's captain slips over in the wet and of course we pay the price. Please play them once next year. Give us a West Coast at the G in round 1, Sunday 1pm on a a beautiful March afternoon in front of 35K as we quietly build into a season of redemption. Happy to sit out opening round.

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
Bring-Back-Powell replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
The much publicised booing of Horne-Francis originated from an early season 2023 game between Collingwood and Port at the MCG. A couple of random Collingwood supporters at the Filth goal end booed him for absolutely no reason and it took off from there. I was at the game and remember asking myself why the heck were they booing a player that had absolutely nothing to with the Pies, but all to do with his departure from North. That’s a BS claim from McRae. -
MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
Bring-Back-Powell replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the AFL’s way of shafting us from a fixture perspective will actually please our fans. Plenty of Sunday 1:10 and Saturday 1:45 games next year will actually suit our supporter profile more than your night games that we essentially had for almost the entire second half of the season. -

Can’t recall a B&F when he hasn’t been slurry. -
Kozzie for pick 11 would be extremely disappointing considering we picked him at pick 12 - so a grand total of a 1 pick profit for a gun small forward/mid that’s 1 to 2 years away from his prime AFL years. The club has to hold firm on this one, give him a few weeks off to visit family prior to or during his suspension and be super accommodating to him next year.

David Teague Approached as Assistant
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know everyone laughed at your comment but I’m sure they’ll consider someone for the coaching panel that is ready to steer the ship if in the remote possibility Goodwin is sacked mid season. With McQualter gone, Teague would fit that bill. Teague is apparently an offensive minded coach which is something we lacked this year. -
That’s excellent for next year but there’s clearly going to be a point in time when he’ll be elsewhere.
-
This is where Houston would’ve come in handy in a trade with Port had we not scared him off. Geez if this is true, we’re going to be a seriously bland on field product without the mercurial Kozzie next year.

In - Campbell Out - Clarry, Kozzie. Probably tips the scales our way. -
MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT

I don’t think the microphone will be anywhere near that particular player given his track record. -
Geelong’s future first rounder for the ANB pick we get from Adelaide and us paying $300K of the $1 million average salary per year will probably be the most we could extract from Geelong. Geelong won’t offer any player of note aside from maybe a Jhye Clark at absolute best. So there’s a chance we could have nothing to show for Oliver for season 2025.

Still amazed that a person that attended the 2021 grand final felt the urge to make a complaint to the MFC.

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
Bring-Back-Powell replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think Max will win it easily. Viney had a bit of a regression year. Too many sub 20 possession games this year compared to last, and the gap between his best and worst widened this year. For example he played his best game of the year against GC only to follow up with his worst game the following week. Also went from 24 votes in 2023 to 8 votes in 2024. Might be on my own here, but I'm not excited about this night given all the on and off field dramas of 2024.
