You’re spot on and the only win of note where we grinded out a hard fought close win while out scoring the oppo in the last qtr was the Brisbane win. The fact that we could barely ever grind out a close last quarter and subsequent win should put him under pressure. Still surprising we won 10 last quarters nontheless.

NON-MFC: Finals Week 01
It will probably be 6 in a row next week. Can see Hawthorn (or to a lesser extent GWS) knocking them off next week.

NON-MFC: Finals Week 01
Pies will have a much bigger challenge against Brisbane or Geelong in the prelim than tonight V Adelaide. Two finals hardened clubs as opposed to tonight’s opponent who had no idea what they were doing.

I was actually surprised we won 10 out of 23 last quarters this year, and last quarters are surely a KPI of how fit your team is. However, we lost every last quarter in our first 7 games which set the tone for the season. A massive tick for Griffiths was our superb injury list which was in turn an indictment on the coaching staff for our pathetic W/L. Consider that Carlton have been roasted just as much as us this year but they had a genuine atrocious injury run. I'm genuinely on the fence on whether to keep him, but a new boss might best for all parties.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Caro on the Agenda Setters campaigning for Bucks to take the Tassie job and reckons people have advised him not to take the MFC gig.

Who’s Playing Their Last Game In The Red & Blue tonight?
Unless clubs are lining up for his services, he'll be with us next year. A prime example of a player that objectively got worse as the season went on.

NON-MFC: Finals Week 01
Reckon Adelaide, Brisbane, GWS and Freo win week 1. In terms of other teams winning a flag, I don't want nor couldn't care less for anyone to win. But I especially don't want a VIC club to win, so I'm ok with Adelaide, Freo, GWS or Brisbane winning it. (not even bothering with GC as they won't get past Freo)

Trade Targets
Fair enough. A potential B+ grade value player we'd get in Hollands could totally be offset by behavioural issues. AFL footy isn't supposed to be a baby sitting service where you have to throw all your resources toward a very select few.
-
Trade Targets
Voss clearly want to kick out Elijah Hollands due to behavioural issues, but he's a damn good footballer IMO. The young bloke from Essendon (Menzie) who put 4 on us at Gather Round this year has been delisted, as well as Alwyn Davey's son.

2025 All Australian
Until St Kilda win a meaningful final, that's all this mob will be talking about for years to come. If only we could've held our nerve for 10 seconds...nobody would be talking about a draw.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I think Hinkley would be a good hire if you want to sneak into the 8. He'd squeeze everything out of the list and have us around the 7th to 10th area for the next 3 years. However, his finals record was pretty damn ordinary as there was often one major let down in which they had their finals destiny in their own hands - eg: the 2020 and 2021 COVID prelims where they had the luxurious position of staying home in September, or last year's 80 point home thumping to the Cats in week 1 finals. We can do better than Ken.

CASEY: Elimination Final vs Williamstown
First time I’ve had a good look at Kentfield. I’m a subscriber after that set shot.

CASEY: Elimination Final vs Williamstown
Impressed with Adams’s start. Can see him being a part of our defence next year.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
This quote from Jack Viney in his post season club website interview gives me a bit of hope with respect to a new voice. “With 9 or 10 years of Goody I guess there was a level of comfortability within the group”

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Robbo was interesting on the DeeBrief podcast. He was continually open about the fact that he's well connected with the club and particularly Brad Green. When asked about what he was looking forward to for 2025, (and he's bullish about 2025), one of the items he mentioned was: "Can't wait for Harvey Langford to have another year with Max, Trac....*pause* not sure what's happening with Clarry to be honest" Interesting that Robbo rattled of Trac's name for next year but had a pause with Clarry, as if to say "yep Trac's more likely to stay than Clarry."

Steven May's Future
Despite May getting roundly criticised for his two performances against Hawthorn and Collingwood he actually got coaches votes in one of those games, would you believe?
-
Steven May's Future
I asked a few posters on the GWS forum what their thoughts were on Derksen and they all agreed that he was miles behind the likes of Taylor, Buckley and Alir. And this was before he got injured. Sounds like a Casey addition if he comes over.
-
Steven May's Future
I wouldn't read too much into this as the author of the story is as die hard a Bulldogs supporter as they come. He's probably still reeling from seeing his team get monstered by the Freo attack and then thought of a defender that could potentially help them.

Jake Melksham & Tom McDonald Sign On For 2026
Both players had to be rewarded with another year. Melk kicked his most goals in a season and T Mac was more than serviceable down back. Jake Melksham kicking the ball into an open inside 50 when we've got the oppo's defence on the ropes is a thing of beauty. Look forward to more of that next year.
-
Steven May's Future
He would be the first I'd move out of him, Lever, Trac, Clarry and Fritta due to his age and other talked about issues. However, he's still a quality player and we saw the difference between an invested May against Collingwood and a disinterested May the week before. He was 500% better against Collingwood.

CASEY: Elimination Final vs Williamstown
Clever fixturing to have all 4 games on at basically the same time.
-
Adelaide
I don't believe he did, however he was involved in getting them from the 1999 wooden spooners to two losing grand finals in 2002 and 2003. Re: Adelaide, I think they'll fall short and are a straight set exit candidate. Rankine is absolutely irreplaceable and I don't think their talent spreads as far as Geelong, Collingwood and Brisbane. Like the Dogs theit bottom 6 players are nowhere near as good as others.

Selwyn Griffiths
Hard to know what's more important: Player availability which he excelled in this year. Or the ability to win close games and dominate last quarters which he indirectly failed in his brief. Either way, back to back 14th placed finishes is going to cost jobs, and given he's out of contract you'd have a hard time convincing yourself that he'll be returning next year.

NON-MFC: Round 24
Not great I’d suspect.

NON-MFC: Round 24
Imagine having to now rely on Essendon to get you into finals.
