Farewell Luke Jackson
I suppose if we were desperate we could make a play for McStay who’s kicked a whopping 3 more goals than Weid.

CHANGES: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
In- BBB Out - Weid Bringing in Harmes would be dropping a a player for the sake of dropping a player. Everything simply worked last night. (Maybe they end up dropping Hunt for Harmes)

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Viney’s played some inspirational games in Perth. In 2017 he got 40 touches in a BOG performance against WC (the game T Mac kicked the winner) The grand final and obviously last night.

NON-MFC: Round 20, 2022
Unless you place a massive priority on finishing 1st and winning the minor premiership (and potentially being awarded the Friday Night prelim) rather than finishing second and still having 2 MCG home finals on route to a potential GF, I’m actually hoping Geelong beat the Dogs tonight. The nauseating over celebration of the Dogs beating us last week is enough to hope Geelong can go some way in ending their season tomorrow. It’s the Sydney’s, Collingwood's and Brisbane’s that are our main threat for top 2, and they’re the teams we need to lose more so than Geelong who will finish top 2 regardless with their soft finish and strong percentage.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
We’ve won our last 10 quarters at Optus. We won every quarter this year against WC and Freo and obviously the second half of the GF.

Max Gawn: I really want that game. - in reference to next weeks game against Collingwood. (Pavlich’s interview with Max on Fox footy, post game)

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
6-0 interstate in the one season. Anyone else ever done that before?

NON-MFC: Round 20, 2022
After last week's disastrous results, we're due one or two non MFC games go our way. We're ostensibly in the finals if Richmond lose this week, even if we lose tonight. St Kilda will lose at least once to Geelong, Brisbane or Sydney so there's no way they'll be displacing us from the finals.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Not only is there a "no boo" policy, I'm hearing there's a campaign for Freo Supporters to clap Jackson every time he gets the ball as a mechanism to make him feel welcome for next year. Hopefully they'll be jumping out of their seats with applause as LJ kicks the winning goal in the final minute.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Hopefully we do a better job of containing Schultz (4 goals) and Lobb (3 goals and 9 marks) this time around. A lot of Freo supporters are disappointed Banfield got dropped as he can kick the clutch goal and he's tracking towards a 25 goal season. Wouldn't be surprised if he's a late in or at least the medical sub. I have absolutely no basis or information to support this but I wouldn't be surprised if Banfield is part of the Jackson trade.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
The Dockers' round 11 win at the MCG saw Logue hold May to season lows of just six disposals and one mark (well below his 2022 averages of 19.1 and 5.2) in a big tactical win for Longmuir. https://www.afl.com.au/news/807974/does-this-dockers-defender-hold-the-key-against-dees- Apparently Griffen Logue holds the key to tonight. Some cutting edge analysis by Nathan Schmook on the AFL website. (we'll just ignore the fact that May missed the last three quarters of that game with concussion and was on track for a 24 possession game)

TEAMS: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Essendon played down in Geelong last year in about round 16 or 17 but point well and truly taken.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Definitely not a key forward. Also too short to be a power ruck. But the answer IMO is a ruck.

FIXTURE: Round 23, 2022
Yeah the breaks are starting to have an effect on us recently. The Brisbane, Adelaide and Port games we had 10, 9 and 10 day breaks respectively and ran the game out strongly. The Geelong and Dogs games we had 5 and 6 day breaks and ran the last 10 minutes of the game on quicksand. Unfortunately this week we have back to back 6 day breaks albeit without the NT heat from the previous week. We should be fresher for the Pies and particularly the Carlton game which is an 8 day break. Lions game on a 6 day break shouldn't be much of an issue as it's a night game.

The Run Home
If Richmond lose to Brisbane on Sunday, we'll ostensibly be playing finals footy in 2022 even if we go 0-4 from here. The best Richmond could go in that scenario would be 12-9-1 and I simply cannot entertain the notion of St Kilda beating all of Hawthorn, Geelong (away), Brisbane or Sydney. Get you party poppers, balloons and champagne handy at 6pm Sunday.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
“If they can go back-to-back, I think he’ll be content with the job that he’s done there and it will be a career move for him. “I think if they get done this year it might be a chip on the block that he wants to go again. Kind of a no loss situation for us supporters if Hamish Brayshaw is on the money with the above quote.

With regards to us missing the finals, I checked the odds on TAB and they don't have us listed in that particular market. Collingwood are the least favourite at $15.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
The Gus and Gawny podcast is on the MFC website and is endorsed by the club, and Gibson who is employed by the club hosts it (or at least he did when he hosted the Bedford segment). So I think it would be fair enough to announce a potential re-signing on that forum. I'd even be happy if Andy broke the news on Demonland. Just sign GUS!

Have you enjoyed season 2022?
From an overall perspective - Yes, because we've (particularly Victorians) all had a choice in whether we can attend games live. We may not win the flag in 2022, but I'm thoroughly enjoying going to games again as opposed to watching them in lockdowns and putting up with overrated mistake riddled commentators such as BT. On footballing matters, I think the standards that we expect of this club are possibly too high given the unbelievable September we had. We as fans definitely took the 10-0 streak for granted I believe. The mood of this forum reflected the unconvincing wins over the likes of Essendon, Hawthorn and North. If we had our time again, we probably should've celebrated the first half season wins a little more as a collective than we actually did, given the mid-late season hiccups we've had.

2022 Injury List
Goodwin flagged in the postgame presser that BBB has a permanent knee issue. One wonders if he'll see his entire contract through?
-
Matthew Stokes on Melbourne
Pressure - 18th in league. Last year 3rd. Weideman worst in league for forward line pressure BBB second worst for forward line pressure Fritsch 9th worst for forward line pressure. There's a stack of other issues but what hope do we have with those stats.

It's starting to look a like a "We'll learn from that" kind of year. Hopefully the hunger will return in 2023, because it's just not there this year. We're not digging in hard enough against the best sides. Dogs - out worked by a hungrier side. Bont willed them over the line. Who went that extra yard for us? Geelong - the ball lived in their forward half for the last 15 minutes of the game Collingwood - 6 goals to 1 last quarter Sydney - 4 goals to 1 last quarter Fremantle - Literally gave no yelp after Fristch kicked an early 3rd quarter goal.
-
The Run Home
Even if we went 0-4 and Dogs went 3-1 but overtook us on percentage, one of the following would still need to happen for us miss finals: Richmond would need to go 4-0 and beat all of Brisbane (MCG), Port (AO), Hawthorn (MCG) and Essendon. Possible I guess but would be a tall order. OR St Kilda would need beat all of Hawthorn, Geelong (GMHBA), Brisbane and Sydney. I'd have St Kilda at a 1% chance of achieving that. If we ended the season 0-5 we'd probably have very little business being in the finals in all honestly.

The Run Home
I have us winning 1 of the last 4 against with that win being against Carlton. Sure, we're capable of winning more but our record against the top echelon is poor. My projected top 8: Geelong 18-4 Brisbane 16-6 Sydney 16-6 Collingwood 16-6 Fremantle 15-6-1 Melbourne 14-8 WB 13-9 Carlton 13-9 Week 1 - Dogs at the G Week 2 - Travel to Sydney or Brisbane (if we win week 1) Week 3 - MCG prelim against Geelong or Pies (if we win week 2)
