  1. One thing you'll notice tonight is how insufferable the Collingwood supporter base are towards the umpires. By far the worst of all clubs. All it will take is one marginal free kick go against them or not paid to them in the first quarter and they'll all be out of their seats and booing the umpires for the rest of the game as if they've already cost them the game. Last week against Port, they booed and hurled abuse to the umpires in the AFL members both at half time and full time (despite actually winning the game) because they couldn't get over the fact that Ginnevan didn't get paid a free in the first 5 minutes of the game.
  2. I think we're going to need to win all 3 games to finish top 2 as I can see Sydney going 3-0 and making up the percentage on us as they'll likely have a 10 goal + win against North on Sunday. Sydney have a very healthy percentage. Assuming we (unfortunately) go 2-1, the only way we could avoid a trip to Sydney in week 1 is if Collingwood beat Sydney next week. I'm sure Sydney will go at least 2-1 to finish the season unless they implode against St Kilda in round 23. Obviously the destiny is in our own hands tonight and the following two rounds if we want to finish top 2.
  3. That was the very reason I was hoping Grundy would've returned this week at the expense of Cox. Will not be able stomach the "USA USA" chant if Cox has his way against us again.
  4. I’m assuming Ed hasn’t referred to our recent 1-6 record against the side he’s just trashed talked.
  5. Not too fussed with Langdon's comments except for the fact that we've been a disgrace against Collingwood since they knocked us out of the finals in 2017. Would've rather he trashed talked a team that we have solid record over.
  6. In - BBB Out - Weid, Chandler Sub - Harmes I don't think Harmes has particularly been shooting the lights out since his mid season hammy (he was kicking a goal or two a week to start the season) but also acknowledge he brings versatility to the side.
  7. Also missing one of his all time favourites: "They're not in this game, but they're not necessarily out of it either" In reference to a team that's down by 5 to 6 goals at three quarter time but have never really had a sniff. He also loves the "Snuck it in by a coat of paint"
  8. I wonder if Collingwood have been loading, particularly around the time (round 17 and 18) they trailed North by 25 pints and couldn't put Adelaide away for the entire day.
  9. Doesn't help that Collingwood have by far the most representation of all AFL Members. It can often resemble the Collingwood members reserve.
  10. Pretty poor and uneven fixturing by the AFL to schedule us 5 games in a row away from the G. I think we did pretty well to go 3-2 considering we went Adelaide-Geelong-Alice Springs-Docklands-Perth. Hopefully we get a lot more MFC fans than on QBDAY as were clearly outnumbered that day.
  11. Be fantastic to have full house except for the fact that you may end up next to a Filth supporter....particularly in the AFL members. I think we end up getting 75K which would be a fantastic effort. The last time we played a home game against Collingwood that wasn't Queens Birthday was in 2019 and we got just 31,000.
  12. Cox has destroyed us twice against us in 2018 (5 goals!) and this year's QBDAY. Quite happy for him to be omitted.
  13. Howe was interviewed last night on channel 7 news and he's confident he'll play. Injury is very minor. Taylor Adams is set to miss 1-2 weeks.
  14. Re: people's refusal to acknowledge Collingwood as a genuine contender, what would be the difference between Richmond's 2017 flag and a potential 2022 flag win by Collingwood? Richmond made finals in 2013, 2014, 2015 but then had a year full of turmoil in 2016 finishing with only 8 wins and a percentage of 78. Then they obviously got it all together in 2017. Collingwood made the finals in 2018, 2019 and 2020 but then also had a year full of turmoil in 2021 finishing with only 6 wins but a better percentage of 86 compared to Richmond's 2016 percentage of 78. Collingwood are first on my list of teams I don't want to win the flag, but I can unfortunately see them as a right in the thick of the race.
  15. If that scenario played out, that would be two very tough opponents to open the finals series given how much grief those two sides have given us in the Goodwin era.
  16. Feels like Sydney with their easy fixture are our main competitor for top 2.
  17. We’ll probably have to beat Brisbane in round 23 to finish above them (in addition to beating Pies and Blues) so percentage isn’t overly critical between the 2 sides IMO.
  18. Absolutely 100% and just shows the top 6 sides won’t be dropping any silly games in the last few rounds.
  19. Make that 0-8-1 of non MFC games going our way since round 19.
  20. Since last Friday night’s Richmond’s V Freo we’re 0-7-1 in terms of hoping for top 4 contenders to lose. We cannot get a result to save ourselves. Hopefully Brisbane slip up today to finally have a non MFC result go our way.
  21. In all honestly I’d rather get beaten by Geelong in a GF who have a percentage of 136 rather than Collingwood who have a percentage of just 106. Whilst I’ve admired what Collingwood have done this year, Geelong are simply the better side and I’d rather lose to the more highly credentialed side in Geelong.
  22. Disagree that they’re an ordinary side. I reckon their football can stack up in September because they play with high intensity, defensively sound and play fast attacking footy at the right time.
  23. Pies steadied to kick the last two before quarter time to reduce the lead from 24 to 12. They’re just a well drilled outfit unfortunately.
  24. Port 38-15 and all over the Pies. Nothing surer than Collingwood pulling something out of their behinds and winning by a point.
  25. I suppose if we were desperate we could make a play for McStay who’s kicked a whopping 3 more goals than Weid.
