So Petty, the club and the AFL are accepting of Zorko's apology and consider the matter resolved. Richo indicated Petty was keen to move on and not have further details made public Out of respect to Petty and his family, is there a valid reason we still have this thread open?

Was it nothing that somebody said?

So it wasn't something that nobody said?

Cameron, McCarthy, Raynor Brisbane small forwards all ineffective tonight Contrast that with Kossie...

Our best is miles ahead of any other team in the comp. Miles ahead
-
Jeez, was just wondering if McCarthy was playing!

Thank you Richo for picking McCartin at no 1

If current players weren’t playing footy..

Don't think you have either buddy

No he's not. Not any longer anyway The fact he's been injured and can't get past the VFL in 2022 illustrates this point succinctly It's actually a huge risk for us taking on a hobbling ruckman for 5 years on $600k, or whatever the suggested difference is. We've got more to lose than the pies IMO, high risk/ high reward could go flat

You might be right, though it could also be all clubs that signed up to be financially backed by the AFL at the start of the pandemic Effectively mean any AFL funded club could sign a 5 year coaching deal and give them the flick after 2 with only 6 months of pay https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afl-insists-on-six-month-payout-clauses-for-coaches-20200918-p55wu1.html

I believe the AFL now have a rule that no coach can be paid out more that 6 months of ther contract. Stops clubs having to do a Clarko and fork out $1mill or more just to change coach

Goes with the territory of playing for Carlton. Hope its not permanent

Essentially they determined in the appeal that Cripps was contesting the ball and not bumping. Apparently his turning the body was in a chest marking action, not a bumping action Wasn't it a handball? No where in the appeal did they refer to Cripps' duty of care towards his opponent when he collided with Ah Chee at high speed causing him to be concussed. So why the [censored] does the AFL go on about the head being sacrosanct and the approaching player being responsible for the medical outcome? Kangaroo court, for sure
-
The AFL want Carlton to play finals, big club on the big stage. Cripps is the brightest star at the club. It makes perfect sense that he would get off for no real reason. Meanwhile Ah Chee misses a week The AFL have no way of validating this decision, nor do they really care So want the blues to lose the next 2 and miss finals

Forward 50 connection? It's the gameplan

I get that players want to kick goals. Who wouldn't want to be the one that scores, particularly when they might've been burnt earlier by a team mate. However, score assists should be the highest bench mark and point of praise: selfless footy. Too often we see player's eyes light up when the goals are in sight, despite having team mates nearby in a better position. The 3 examples given by Matthew Lloyd are a weekly occurance. Is it selfishness, stiff team rules or lack of vision? The team usually swamps the goal kicker after a major when they would be better to first congratulate the 'assistee' -
No convinced Is this part of the peacemeal approach we've had with our forward line for the past 4-5 years? Would rather we throw what we get for Dogga plus his cap space at a good key forward. Who? I'm not sure. Maybe we can do both. We have the best ruck in the comp with little support (assuming Dogga leaves). But we have no quality key forwards, with both BBB and Tmac aging and on one leg Send Grundy the the Richmond doc for a thorough physical
