  1. How can you get them confused? One is clearly a baby boomer and the other gen y from their writing styles if nothing else. For the record: Jose = e25
  2. Sigh. They're completely different. Read today's Hun. Toumpas is more than happy to come to us.
  3. Stinga /swoon. (And I'm straight man, married with a son)
  4. Toumpas' hip operations were precautionary. They were to remove spurs from the ball of the femur to reduce wear on the socket in the pelvis, especially the cartledge. The spurs themselves are naturally accouring and quite common; however most people won't be subjecting their body to the extreme physical demands of an AFL footballer. Numerous other young players have also had the same operation, including Tapscott.
  5. He was struck with the ban-hammer here under his original name. He finally bit the bullet and joined under a new name about a week before 'ology came back online. Now that his fiefdom has been reformed I doubt we'll see him back here for a while. Still enjoy his posts, wherever they appear.
  6. It's TGR from demonology... a veteran of 10,000 posts. He's also contributed here over the years too (under a different name, obviously). Reckon that qualifies him.
  7. He was a supporter as a kid...
  8. Not entirely accurate. The boundary is 5m inside the fence, so the MCG's playing surface is 164x138m. Subi's playing surface is 175x122m
  9. I'm not so sure with Geelong. The thing in their favour is that they had just about the hardest draw this year and still made the finals, I doubt they will cop a draw that hard again. Weighing up against that, however, they have lost Scarlett and a few of their stars - notably Chapman and Bartel - have dropped away a bit this year (a trend that I believe will continue). Bottoming out is not their way, nor is it likely with guys like Duncan, Motlop, Christensen and Menzel coming through; but I can see a few lean years whilst the new crop mature to form the core of the team.
  10. Pretty simple, he would have rubbed his hands together at the prospect of getting 3 first round draft picks. He would also keep the faith with Morton, Petterd, Bennell et al and bow out of the draft after the Viney F/S pick. We may have tried to get someone with FA, but with second rate development staff and no vision to offer they'd have told us to get stuffed.
  11. That's pretty old to be still running around with "Potential" still stamped on your forehead. Contrast that with a player 3 years older that proved himself 7 years ago, fills a glaring hole in our list and will set a good example for the youngsters. Yep; our list management has been shocking, hasn't it?
  12. Apparently Sando is a Jedi. Who knew?
  13. I like to pretend I'm speed reading... Don't worry, you're not on it
  14. Don't chuck it in mate! Have you heard of the ban list? The source of your lengthy post was the first name on it for me. Mine runs 50 deep, with names constantly being added. It makes this site so much more pleasant to read.
  15. 100% Correct. They got away with plenty, but not that!

Garry Lyon. David Schwarz. Both were crippled with Injuries so we never saw their best on a consistent basis.
  17. I believe that a player must serve at least 12 months of a contract to stop just that sort of shenaniganary. Also RFAs can be traded* , but UFA cannot. ---- * From http://www.afl.com.a...09/default.aspx: 3. A player has served eight or more seasons of AFL football at one club, is one of the 10 highest-paid players at his club, and is now out of contract for the first time since reaching eight seasons of service. The player is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs. If he wishes to change clubs, the player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club. His club has the right to match the presented offer. If the club matches the offer, he may choose to remain with his original club, seek a trade or enter the Draft. If the club does not or can not match the offer, the player can move to the new club of his choice. His original club will receive a compensation pick for the loss of the player, on an AFL-determined formula to apply where clubs lose more free agents than they gain in any single transfer period. ---- Editied for emphasis
  18. Sorry for taking the thread off-topic... The blocking tool has gotten a massive workout since I discovered it about a month ago. This site is now much easier to read without having to wade through the useless contributions of the mentally feeble and hysterical rantings of the loonies.
  19. Wow. Doubt they will be on the list next year? I guarantee they will be. We'll see who's right in October. * Although i'm not sold in Cook (at all), we'll be given another year at least to prove himself before we turf him.
  20. I know the two incidents that you refer to, and agree that both looked ugly, but realistically his options were: were smother/turnover on half back trying to kick with his right, or potential turnover 40m up the ground kicking with his left. He took the lesser of two evils. The real answer is that he should never had had to kick if there were only poor options on. Where was the runner for the handpass? This is the difference between a side low on confidence learning a new gameplan and the top 4 sides to which the OP refers. Watts' left boot is barely discerable from his right. I would be interested in seeing the stats behind the OP. Champion Data produce a Kick Hit Rate stat that takes into account 'degree of difficulty' into the kick, not just straight up efficiency. A version showing all players with more than 100 kicks for the season was published in the Hun last week. We only had 3 players on it!
  21. Unrestricted Free Agents can just walk. It's only for a Restricted Free Agent that the original club can match the offer.
  22. Goddard is a free agent. Why would Carlton bother trading for him? That alone makes me discount the whole scenario.
  23. Complete dud. Barely got near it save for a couple of junk time cheapies. What were we getting so excited about? (cf. Naitanui thread)
  24. I'd have left the Jack Anthiny one out, just quietly. Jack Anthony had Thomas, Pendlebury, Swan, Didak et al ramming the ball down his throat when he made his name. Cameron has a bunch of kids and a bloke who can't hit a barn door and has shown 10 times more than Jack Anthony ever did.
