I think it was meant to be similar to saying “Joe Blow” ie, the personification of an average, everyday person. I doubt it’s an example of snobbery. Have you ever met Kate? As in, spoken to her? Got to know her a little? Call her what you will, but a snob she ain’t. Besides, even if she did feel that way, she’s a smart person; she’d never put herself in a position where she’s open to ridicule for making such a classist comment.

With respect Slart, I’ve read here on DL and heard elsewhere that emails to Peter weren’t answered. I’m guessing that might be because they weren’t exactly complimentary. However, I emailed him to point out the typos in his printed material (and in a small part for sh*its n giggles) and despite it being 10pm he replied in 17 minutes. He was most pleasant indeed but maybe he only replies to emails that are benign so to speak.

Uhm… tucking a guernsey into shorts or any pants for that matter is a call 000 (fashion) police situation. There’s a bunch of stories about Harmesy all stemming from his unwavering loyalty to his teammates and his determination to protect them. This applies especially to Fritta since he and James are besties. Fritta calls James his bodyguard. 😁 Also, James does SO much for our Club. If there’s an event and we’re told “some of the players will be attending” this really means, “ Harmesy will be attending and maybe some of the other players.” True story.

Not a good idea, Demonstone would have it cracked within seconds.

Hey Kat, the above explains my confusion about AFLW-only voting rights. It also explains how the mystery was solved. 🙂

He had a reason for not attending. Whether or not it was a valid reason is another matter entirely. I’d rather not expand, not publicly anyways.

Of the two who have only AFLW membership, one is over 18 and the other is 17. But neither received anything. edit: my eldest just told me he has since changed his email and that’s why he wouldn’t have received anything. Mystery solved. 🙂

This is a good question. I’m thinking the answer is no. I’ve bought AFLW membership for my sons and the only one who received emails is the one who also has membership for the men’s.

There’s plenty of new music that’s not as you’ve described it, Bobby. You just have to look for it. And yeah, no one can ever take our Premiership away from us. ❤️💙

Mike Oldfield My older brother took me to see Mike Oldfield and I was thinking geez dude plays every instrument on his albums, how’s he gonna do this live (I was a kid, I knew nothing). Of course he had a suite of musicians on stage with the man himself playing “… plus… TUBULAR BELLS!” I don’t remember much of the concert. Not just because I was young, but also coz I’m pretty sure I was stoned on the second-hand weed smoke. 😂

To those who emailed Peter Lawrence and haven’t received a reply, check this out… Note he replied within 17 minutes of receiving my email. And why would that be? I’m glad I asked. That’d be because I informed him of the typos in his printed material. That’s enough to get anyone’s immediate attention. 😂

This entire post is extremely well-written and makes a lot sense. The only negative is that you posted it only one hour ago. The deadline for nominating a proxy was 5pm today. Considering the No vote needs to make up only 25% of all votes in order to “win” this would’ve been absolutely invaluable had you posted it before the deadline.

Idk if you can call it a claim to fame but I was in a Skyhooks music clip (for a brief time before it got banned). The song was “Women in Uniform.” I was about 11yo, standing at a tram stop with a bunch of girls (all of whom were much older than me) after school, in our uniforms, and didn’t even know we were being filmed. In fact, I didn’t know I was in the vid until the night my older sister was watching Countdown and yelled out, “Hey, there’s WCW!” My mum made me tell Sr Margaret Mary, our principal, who was aghast and who then promptly went about getting it banned. I was NOT popular with the other girls who were in the clip. 😬

Probably would be wise. On very windy days or if it’s raining the banner doesn’t go up until the players are on the ground and pretty much right in front of it. Less time in the elements lessens the likelihood of damage. On Sunday I was watching the raising and while it was windy all day, at the point when the players ran out onto the field it wasn’t too bad. Banner crew had such difficulty getting it up because at that exact moment a particularly strong gust blew through. This is why Marvel is the best ground in terms of banner raising. Probs the only thing it’s best for, amirite?! 😁

Yeah, while crepe paper is flimsy, packing tape is certainly not. We always leave the middle third of the bottom two rows of the banner tape-free for the players to run through without incident. But on Sunday the banner was so hard to keep upright that the angle of it meant the players were running through the (reinforced) taped section. It could’ve ended badly.

Speaking of moms, well that is, mums… Upon hearing of Luke’s departure, the mother of one of our players expressed disappointment because she liked having Luke at the MFC since he made her son sound “articulate and eloquent.” 🤣 I think we all know to whom I refer.
