  1. I’m around the same age and wore 9 for Alan Johnson. Both of them have proved to be pretty good numbers for us
  2. With social media ban kicking in for under 16’s we might see an influx of youth
  3. I will never forget Brown’s son coming off the bench as sub in the last 1/4 and winning us the game with a fierce tackle. That is culture building and unites the club old boys who are passionate about the club. Essendon who have been hopeless since the Sheedy era gifted Davey 100 games in the end because he has so many sons. That was clever. We took Kalani very late and nobody else bid on him. I’ve read on here that he has 2 younger brothers that are better and posters on Demonland are never wrong so it must be true
  4. Roos no doubt wanted Brayshaw. I have a feeling Todd Viney might have been influential in a few picks as well. But since we got JT our drafting has improved significantly. Kozzie is one of the best players in the league and he was panned on Demonland for going early on him. Langford is going to be a superstar and he was criticised for being too slow. Has anyone noticed the pace of all the draft picks and recruits since? That is clever to help Langford become the best player in the league.
  5. Langford did some incredible things in his first year, it don’t know if it’s damning if he turns into a superstar and it looks like he could I would have liked to put Chandler at number 5 but I have no idea what King has planned for him. CJ or Steele could easily end up in there but I guess only time will tell. If cuz Koz does we will be a lot better than anyone expects next year
  6. Gawn, Pickett, Langford and Windsor. I guess we have to wait to see who makes up the top 5
  7. Don’t forget Kiddy Coleman he almost single handily won them the premiership in 2023 where he was clearly best on ground in the prelim and would have won the norm smith if the shot he took from 60m out in last quarter went through. It went through the behinds post height but just missed. He is only 25 will be 26 next year. They are going to be hard to beat for years unless they have a Melbourne like implosion.
  8. Collingwood were gifted the Daicos brothers but Buckley was gifted a premiership side before that. He didn’t design a game plan around his players strengths but just how he wanted them to play. King is on record saying he has an atttacking game plan but will also tailor it to revolve around our players strengths. That is what good coaches do and a key reason he got the top job. I hope Tasmania get a team and Buckley coaches them so I can bet on them to win the wooden spoon
  9. I hope he is moving Latrelle
  10. We might have missed May with that policy but nobody else would take him.
  11. Do you think Jack and Todd are not cut from the same cloth? All I am is saying is Jack seems to play through injuries. So did Todd. I hope he doesn’t to be honest but he probably will.
  12. I’m glad we didn’t get a gambling agency as a sponsor because I am going to bankrupt them all when Letrelle wins this rising star and Langford gets the most Melbourne Brownlow votes
  13. If there is one player is invincible it is Viney.his old man who is our team of the century and famously came at at 3/4 time coaching Echuca on crutches and threw them away and played the last quarter. I realise Achilles heels can be really debilitating injuries but so can plantar facia dissociated shoulders are not easy to play through either but he played through them time and time again. I hope he misses the first few rounds for his wellbeing but I doubt he will. He would go out with a broken leg and complain.
  14. Viney is the last person I would worry about carrying an injury. I’ve seen him on crutches at the races and still play the following week. Let alone all the times his shoulder pops out and he just pops it back in himself and keeps playing. Look at Oscar Mcinernny in the 2024 prelim when his shoulder went. He missed the Grand Final the following week. Viney would missed about 2 minutes
  15. Contracts mean nothing except locking in a players salary. I think we recruited well this year.
  16. CJ is on record saying he didn’t expect to leave Hawthorn but met with King and decided to come to us. Hawthorn didn’t get rid of him. We won him. Same story with Steele and St Kilda. Our drafting from other clubs has been hopeless after we got Lever, May and Langdon. I reckon we might be back on track.
  17. Fancy miss quoting someone on demonland.
  18. I have no love for Bailey Smith and would take Sam Darcy over him any day. If he wins the coaches award next year and the following year (Oliver was leading the 3rd year before he got injured) I will put him in the same conversation. I am not bagging Carey or Ablett they are the greatest but I think Oliver is underrated because he was more like Diesel Williams or Sam Mitchell. Not spectacular like Carey or Ablett
  19. I just had to look it up. North got pick 2 and 18 for Carey. But why I bring it up Ablett snr moved to Myrtleford between leaving Hawthorn and going to Geelong. Myrtleford seems to be a good place for us. I would take another Guy Rigoni any day and another Ablett Snr would wipe my Clarrie thoughts off the map. Hope our traing camp at Myrtleford has gone well
  20. Why? Carey and Ablett snr were two of the greatest players ever but Clarrie won the coaches award for best player in the league two years running and was leading for a third until he got injured and hasn’t been the same since. The comparison wasn’t just about being the best player in the league I was factoring in the troubled off field behaviour, whilst doing it
  21. Even though I want the best for Clarrie it will break my heart if he becomes the third, unless he requests a trade back to us and gets his last one at Melbourne. To be honest I think he will ask to come back
  22. Loved them all. I take your point as well. I’d even put Brad Green on that list. Flower, Neitz and Stynes (Green) were much better clubmen. So I appreciate what you have written. Clarrie was a bit more in the Ablett snr or Wayne Carey style. The best player in the competition but didn’t always do the right thing by himself or the club.
  23. I grew up with Alan Johnsons number on my back but was young then. Tulip was my favourite player but like Nathan Jones he stood out when we were a terrible side. What he did was magic and idolised him as a kid. Clarrie won a b&f in a premiership year. There is no comparison.
  24. The same 16 other cubs that could have drafted Max Gawn but over looked him in the draft? Half the clubs are hopeless at recruiting and besides Richmond and Geelong no team seems to be great at taking mature age players. We were when we took Lever, May and Landon but we seem to have dropped off a cliff since then
