  1. I think St Kilda can smell a kill and will kill. No idea how some can hold faith. Now that Fritsch is out as well. We have zero confidence and Goody just clearly can't inspire. Whatever the msging, learnings and teaching at training, are clearly not working or being listened to. "It's something we're working incredibly hard at". How many times do we hear this... Joisus. Goody either simply has to address a list and positional change next year. Which means the game plan has to change more significantly than it ever has. And I think we'd all welcome that. So many go on and on about our defence... But it's gone too far. We've robbed Peter to pay Paul. We need a serious shake up of personnel and positional change through the midfield and forward line next year otherwise we're wasting our window. Three new assistants who can challenge Goody would also be welcome.
  2. Pin this post. @binmanand @A F, thoughts? How is it that we can be winning and dominating so many stat-lines during games, but ultimately losing the match due to our inefficiency, connection and accuracy, and this being mainly due to fatigue because of loading? How can it possibly be so? The players simply don't show fatigue when it comes to winning contested possession or the inside 50 count or clearance? How can fatigue only be relevant when it comes to our inaccuracy? It makes no sense whatsoever.
  3. I'm sorry but it's just a nonsense. The psychology of 'trying to hard' when you're losing and getting desperate and the Melbourne 'red myst' thing that we revert to is much more relevant to our inaccuracy. Not fatigue. The fatigue argument just doesn't fly. You can't be winning almost every stat line against opponents but losing games and putting that down to mainly fatigue. A fatigued side is not dominating stat lines. There are 10 things I'd list as problems before bringing fatigue into the conversation. We have been losing the same way for over a year. Longer even. If you actually averted your attention, you'd see the problem areas that most see. And you'd realise that fatigue is always present in varying degrees across seasons. And it simply doesn't need the kind of microscopic looking over that you continue to give it. This is a game plan, list and personnel issue. It is as simple as that.
  4. Mate, if it was a huge factor, you'd be seeing similar results across all top teams. Which just isn't happening? The way you pick and choose what you see to suit this bs narrative is just nauseating. And you're at the same time talking Collingwood's form down by suggesting the Suns are fatigued because 'this is what happens to them in the second half of the year'. Do you realise how silly that sounds?!? By your loading logic, it should be Collingwood who struggled up there against the Suns. And the Power and Brisbane should also be seeing a dip in performance.. You're living in an echo-chamber and finding whatever you want to suit your argument. The head in sand stuff is you!
  5. As clear as day is it. Haha. Mate, I'll buy you a new shovel because you need it. You've genuinely lost the plot.
  6. @A F and @binman "No one can beat us when at out best." "Clearly we're loading." "The conditions were shocking so don't judge us in that". How we going fellas?! Which one is it?! What's the excuse @A F?! Your responses are looking awfully silly!
  7. There are some delusional supporters thinking we'll be fine for top four. Gotta love the line that supporters continue to live by which is that 'no one can go with us at our best'. Not realising that you've actually got to play at your best for that to happen.. I'd just like to see some consistency in performance. And it's a worry that we haven't seen that in over a season. And this especially so given the amount of talent on our list.
  8. You can't compare Gold Coast to North or West Coast. And you're downplaying Collingwood's football. Without De Goey, Mcstay and Sidebottom. Because as I've said multiple times, bar maybe three sides at the moment, anyone can beat anyone. You keep shifting the goal posts haha. You're blaming Gold Coast's 'poor second half of the draw' history as opposed to giving credit to Collingwood smacking them up there by 78 points without three important players. If we had won that, you wouldn't stop banging on about how good the win was. I just appreciate what they're doing at the moment as a club and I wish Goody would take a leaf in some ways. Release the shackles. Play with flair, bring supporters along for the ride. Stop stifling some of the flair our players possess by being so rigid. Can you not see the flow-on effect it's having for them? I'm totally optimistic about our list and the talent we have. I've just lost faith in Godwin's msg getting through given how inconsistent we've been since midway of last year.
  9. Nah, it's not hyperbole at all. Everyone is beatable and we built ourselves up to beat Collingwood. But we've lost to Freo at home, Essendon, an undermanned Geelong and have been patchy and inconsistent in games the entire year. We don't look like a top four side with the way we're playing. Speaking of hyperbole though. You still think Collingwood are over hyped? And are you sure? They looked pretty average today didn't they!
  10. I still think Himmelberg would be a great interim foil for Van Roo. And especially so if we targeted Caddy in the draft who is exploding and looks Curnow-esque. Liam Henry would be a great addition too and could really rejuvenate both Pickett, himself and our forwardline. Would bring serious excitement, playing with your best mate brings the best out of you. I'd also shake up our half forwards and trial either Salem or Bowey on a flank over the summer to add a great user to the frame. Henry Himmelberg Fritsch Caddy Van Rooyen Bowey Starting midfield: Oliver Trac Pickett So much more exciting.
  11. The more I watch of McKercher, the more I think he'd be a great fit for us. Reminds me of Zac Merrett/Eroll Gulden. Classy, can still compete in the contest. Just a really composed play maker who is charging into the top 10. I also think we should make a charge for one of GWS's picks. Two top 10 picks and a pick inside 20. Would be happy to trade our first and second rounder for next year to nail three players from the draft this year.
  12. Where did you hear the 'some say' part? The crowds thing is the clubs fault for allowing people in charge to drive it into the abyss. Which is ultimately why supporters dropped off. And our style of play as well is our personnel doesn't seem to bring the same excitement level as it does for Collingwood for example. I completely understand why our supporters don't always want to rock up to a game sometimes. Not sure it harsh. Just true. Brayshaw anywhere other than inside mid, Gawn forward, I think one of Salem or Bowey need to be moved to a flank for us to connect better. Smith forward is an issue. We just don't get creative enough with tinkering, player addition or attribute diversity across the field.
  13. I disagree on almost everything you've said.. To me, you just sound like another supporter who despises Collingwood and therefore downplay what they're doing. Which is fine. But it's simply wrong. The reason I think they play a better style is multifaceted. I can see you're looking through the gameplan lense only and I'll get to that in a minute. Firstly, I think they play a brand of football that is unbelievably exciting, fast paced, fun and ultimately brings hoards of supporters through the gate and gives them huge viewership on TV. So the first point is that they play a brand of football that their supporters love to watch. Secondly, their style of play inspires and motivates their players. This is another overlooked factor in why they are performing in games. Arousal levels are remain consistently high because they play fun footy, their fun footy attracts crowds, their arousal levels go up again. It's a fantastic symbiotic relationship that has been working for them pretty much since fly joined but most definitely since midway through last year. The same cannot be said for us, can it? Now getting to the game-style part of the question. I don't think I need to give any more evidence than what is already laid bare. From midway through last year, right through to now, they have played a much more consistent brand of footy compared to us. A point that can't be argued with. They have won more games, been in games for longer and closed games better than us. Every side has an Achilles heel. So the only point I agree on is that Collingwood's desire to play fast paced, numbers around the ball style of footy does leave them vulnerable at the back. But to what degree is that a problem for them right now and since midway last year? It's simply not! Because they are so efficient going forward and have such a strong offensive game. The other thing is, they have unbelievably good one on one key defensive players in Darcy Moore and Brayden Maynard who refuse to give up. If it is a roll of the dice as you say, they must be the luckiest sporting team to ever exist given their win/loss ratio since midway last year. I think we all know what they're achieving is more than just luck, you included under that cloud of Collingwood hate. As far as comparing their style to our 2018 style. I think it's a silly comparison given the in-season results as well as the personnel on lists at the time. Our second half of '18 was nowhere near as consistent as their second half of' 22. And look at what happened to us in 2019? We made finals and played two rippers in 2018. They steam rolled their way to a prilim with consistently good football from mid season and lost by a couple of points to an interstate side at home. We got walloped and broke some records along the way against an interstate side. Our vulnerabilities were a constant threat in every game we played and were constantly an issue throughout the season. You simply can't say the same for Collingwood. And lastly. I completely disagree about the 'hype' thing. Any side who performs like this will get media attention. Collingwood are a Victorian club so you're obviously going to read more about them here. But any club who would be performing this way consistently would be getting the media attention they deserve on all sports media. You're living in a Collingwood hatred bubble. They're onto a good thing. The evidence is everywhere and the positives that come from the way they're playing are multifaceted. Our FD are wasting our talent, we play talented players out of position, we play a boring and vanilla style of football, our game-day arousal levels are always inconsistent and we have a supporter base who pick and choose when to come to games in part for the reasons I've stated. Look forward to your response.
  14. What's incredible about it? Because their supporters rock up? Collingwood are perennial travellers. Maybe you're talking about this year solely? The fact that they have a large supporter base is an advantage that they have created. The fact that we have an average sized supporter base and plenty who don't rock up is something we have created. So what exactly are you complaining about? The fact that they have been able to create an advantage and we haven't? I'm also interested in why you disagree with what I said about our lists compared. Please share.
  15. I'm not sure that has anything to do with what I am saying. I'm talking about the way they've built their list right now. And the style of football they play. But I think what's more relevant than solely winning flags (which no single team can sustain year after aside from those freak dynasties) is the following: They keep competing and never stay down for long. Why don't you ask how many years they've made finals and competed in prelims since 2010?
  16. Their record since the halfway mark of last season speaks for itself. No team is unbeatable, and if you followed them I'm sure you would have noted their brigade of missing players and if Binman followed them he would probably say they're in a heavy loading phase, hence the drop off. We devised a plan to beat them at a time when they were vulnerable and due. I still think their list is much better balanced and placed, regardless of the fact that we beat them.
  17. No club will pay a first rounder for him, he has barely been playing for Freo. I still want him though. Fact of the matter is, we need a shake up. We need a more dynamic and potent list and an injection of players who can finish their work. I'd be showing Harmes, Jordan, T-Mac, Melksham, Hibberd, Smith and Tomlinson the door in order to get a couple of trades, host of new talent and keep exposing our kids. We are completely vanilla at the moment. Shut down Oliver or Trac and we wilt. Pressure us and we wilt. Whilst Collingwood treated their players the wrong way, their hard decisions look to be paying off. They are a list with realy X factor, excitement and they have such a great blend of attributes all over the field.
  18. There are some major misunderstandings of the whole 'dump kick' talk. I don't think anybody questions the value of dump kicking when under extreme pressure and congestion and especially so in the wet weather? Do they? What supporters rightfully question is the sheer amount of dump kicking we see throughout many scenarios. If @george_on_the_outer is telling us that coaches now tell players (like Pendles) to forget to take that extra step and allow yourself time and space to hit a leading target going inside 50.. All for the new cause of dumping it in because 'statitistics'.. Then I'm following the wrong sport and have no idea what I'm talking about. Somehow I have sneaking suspicion this isn't true. And most top 8 clubs put an absolute premium on ball use going inside 50 when under little pressure and with time and space.
  19. Don't mean to offend but what a load of tosh. Lowering the eyes is irrelevant? It rarely happens to have a forward with space to lead into? I think you need to watch some non-melbourne games...
  20. Oath. Cannot believeee people are riding on the hope of other teams falling around us. We will dictate our position by wins and losses. And at the moment, we look a mile off a top four side. We should be riding a Freo loss every game, regardless of who they play.
