  1. Lol. How much are you on an hour to defend the MFC? Max is a champion footballer. Best ruckman I've ever seen. He also speaks too much and often speaks without taking the time to think. Both can exist! Amazing hey!
  2. A player in his early 30's, a supposed leader of the backline, has had a previous mishap with a well respected and professional team-mate which was clearly alcohol-fuelled, made some embarrassingly stupid comments about being a better team than the 2023 premiers (clearly influenced by how many drinks he'd had) and looks completely out of it at the races having a laugh about what he said at the bnf. It's a [censored] look. That's my take. No worries if you disagree! It's a footy forum, get over yourself.
  3. Yeh. Imagine. Remind me who suggested he ignore the question/questions? Why is it always so black and white with you hardcore fan-boys and girls? There is a space that exists.... in betweeeeeenn the black and white.
  4. Future AA defender in the making, big men take time remember.. Bit of perspective thanks!
  5. How can you doubt it when he openly said he'd be open to a move back to SA at some point when there was clearly no reason for him to say so? Clearly, he has a desire to go home. But respects that we value him and held him to his contract. The world is not going to fall apart if Petty leaves, relax everyone.
  6. Thanks for your response. I clearly missed those posts.
  7. Maybe. Or maybe he'd be rejuvenated at a new club? Did anyone think Bobby Hill would reach the heights he did this year? Peter Wright going to Essendon.. Dunkley to Brisbane. I mean there are examples on both sides clearly but you've got to be in it to win it ey?
  8. Pretty sure he was a dees supporter growing up. Good omen!?
  9. Yes, you can so easily identify what other teams were able to do during finals, (ie, copy our game plan lol) and also point out that we lost those games due to poor field kicking, poor kicking inside 50 and inaccuracy in front of goal.. (something that has killed us for years in games that we 'should have' won) But. You refuse to list what Goodwin should be doing about that from a list point of view? Or do you not think it's an inherent problem due to the personnel we play in certain positions? Why do you think this trend of poor kicking both in general play, going inside 50 and then shots on goal in general play exists mainly, if it's not personnel?
  10. Lol. Well yes, there's evidence of that everywhere across AFL clubs over the years. What rock are you living under?
  11. Obviously trade period still has some time to go but I'm not sure we're going to see improvement next year as far as ladder position or finals run goes if Fullerton and McAdam are our only trades and 6 and 11 our two picks for the draft. We're not going to get further improvement out of our core as they're in the prime as is. Gawn and May are past their prime so it's more likely that they'll decline. Of course we'll see some natural improvement from our younger brigade but none of them are prime movers. Rivers and McVee had great years but are don't and won't impact games like Trac and Oliver. And teams around us like Carlton and Sydney have a greater abundance of young prime movers who will naturally improve which will see those sides become even stronger. I think JVR plays a supporting role and I don't think he's ever going to tear games apart. He's an undersized key forward. Oliver is no guarantee to even play at this stage and I thinks it's naive to suggest we'll be going through a season without any injuries to key players. It happens to every side every year. So there's some natural concern here for not changing things up enough if this is how we're looking for next year, atm we're looking very same same. My hope is we can move up the draft and nab one of Reid, McKertcher, Sanders or Duursma. I think those three players will impact in their first year but also create hype and excitement. Still time, fingers crossed we make some changes.
  12. A forward-line of Mcdonald/Brown, Gunston and Fritsch scares me to death given their poor ability to compete and pressure at ground level. Fritsch is basically our Gunston. Two crafty forwards who are finishers, are medium/talls and provide next to no pressure on ground level. I'd be baffled if we went after him.
  13. Right, I didn't know they'd come out publicly and said they'd keep him. Thought they were keen to move him on but thanks for the update.
  14. The Haynes thing makes sense to me although I'm confused there's no media noise around it. Given the cash we've freed up, surely it goes to Haynes for one year and then we have some big money to throw at Ben King, JUH or Logan McDonald as they're all coming out of contract at the end of 2024. It gives us GWS first pick which would increase our chances of getting Reid or at least moving up to the top three of the draft? Genuinely hoping this happens now. Haynes is a super smart defender and the perfect hybrid. Would be a great fit imo.
  15. You've misread my post. I made mention of this as a hypothetical in a previous post a day or so ago to cover for Petty (if by chance he left). Of course I'm not the only one that thought of this, I only made mention of it as one of many examples of how we could cover for Petty's absence (in a hypothetical world) in response to a poster who again couldn't fathom how we could possibly cover a Petty loss. I know little. But I can think of more than much of Demonland. Thank God.
  16. Sweet Garbo. You're not understanding. This is not about 'rushing' into a trade. I know as much or as little as you!!!! Here's what we've heard from the media: Petty has a desire to get back to SA at some point. And Adelaide are hell bent on getting him this trade period and have offered what myself and many believe to be overs in pick 10, 20 and McAdam. Now. If that is true, we'd be a poorly run club not to entertain this offer given the options it gives us going forward. What are those options, (everyone keeps asking me). I don't [censored] know!!!! BUT!! What I do know is that we already have a strong draft hand. We have a fantastic list manager and recruiter and have an enormously positive track record in this space. What people on demonland need to get in their heads is what our future looks like post Gawn and May. Where will our list be? What kind of pain needs to be inflicted now to give us a positive looking future? It honestly seems like nobody is thinking that way. I don't care if we don't make finals next year or the year after if it means we can have another four cracks at it in three-four years time. You also have to look at what that kind of thing does for the growth of the club as far as new supporter and membership goes... I don't get why people don't think of this? You want flags now and only now?! We just missed out on two golden opportunities. Time to look forward with this list and entertain any and all offers that could benefit our club going forward. Sometimes I think of this place as being a cult. And Saty runs it. Saty would still have Jordie McKenzie, Rohan Bail and Matthew Bate as our leadership group promising that they're improving every pre-season. (all the while we'd be bottom of the ladder losing games by 100 points).
  17. Isn't it funny that I mentioned taking on the Haynes contract with the bonus pick (as a possibility of covering Petty if the trade actually eventuated) and then a few posts later Mach comes through with something he may have heard. Did you read my post? Is there anyone aware that I may not have alllll of the machinations given I'm not in list management?! But that possibilities would be there that we can't see. So why even comment?!? Man. This place is crazy, honestly. We were so close to making a Grand Final. Without Petty. What's going on here?!
  18. This perfectly sheds light on why it's impossible to talk any sense with you. You make [censored] up. You've literally made up that "my" proposal (which I never proposed) that trading out Petty would improve our forwardline. It's honestly like trying to reason with a teenager. Maybe go back and read what I actually said, then come back and reason. If that's at all possible. Try your hardest not to make things up.
  19. No no. I'm glad you're not in charge. All you've done is outline exactly what the Demonland one-eyed supporter would do. Be too afraid to make decisions based on on fear of future outcomes. It's ridiculous you say 'there's no guarantees you can't move up the order' with the draft hand we'd get for a trade like Petty but completely brush over the fact that there's also no guarantee he'll get his body right for a full year? Or there's no guarantee that his form will continue in an upward trajectory... Or any other list management risk?! Does anyone notice this? Lol. Nah. Because we love Melbourne players and Melbourne payers only and all else is riskkkkkk so shut upppp.
  20. That's fine. They were still questioned for it given he's a third tall at best.
  21. Appreciate your post. But to be clear, it's not that I *want to trade Petty. But if we're being offered pick 10, 20 and McAdam, I think it's most definitely worth considering given what we could turn that into over the next few years. That's all. I'm just not in the 'keep Petty at all costs' camp. I think that's silly.
  22. Mate. This is getting ridiculous. Petty was drafted at 37 in a draft. You would have said how speculative that pick was back then. The top 10 this year is a bumper crop, therefore experts declared it a super draft. Idgaf if you don't think it is. There's super talent there within that top 10. Also, you're comparing Petty to a pick 10-15. Which is [censored] ridiculous given we'd clearly be using those picks to move up or trade for a player. Why so short-sighted. Every. Single. Time. Think forwaddddd. Did you say the same thing going into the draft where we managed to move up to pick up Jackson, Pickett and Rivers? Or Oliver at 4? Think for a sweet minute my son.
  23. No, I compared supporters being fearful of the same result. Because they can't see a result! Fear of the unknown. Same story every year. Al of those names you listed were outside the top 7? Should I also put forward the names of Petty, Rivers, Bowey or JVR to even it out?. There's risk everywhere. Doesn't matter where you look. Just depends on where you WANT to look.
