Tasmanian Team
I agree, it is very difficult. It's taken 10 seasons to get membership bases of GC - 19,460 (pop 700k) and GWS - 30,185. (pop 400k) Hobart has about half the population of Canberra so it would have to convert about 65% of their town into members to get even close to 30,000 members I think you'd have to have their homebase in Hobart and play 3 home games in Launceston. Then you can sell 3 game memberships to Lonnies residents. Kind of like how GWS play some games at Manuka Oval every year. The Tasmanian government would probably be the first and main sponsor. They wouldn't continue supporting Hawthorn if they have their own team.

Position names
I think the NBA has moved in a similar way. Used to have point guard, shooting guard, shooting forward, power forward and center where similar shaped and skilled players filled those roles. 2 tall's for in the paint, 1 medium shooter/defender, 2 smalls - 1 for ball handling and one for shooting. Nowadays teams play tall and small. In the USA Vs Australia game Devin Booker a point guard was playing technically as a power forward. You cant call him a power forward. The ball handler has changed too since Lebron/Kobe took over from point guards, so its more here is our 5 individually skilled players playing a role on the court versus your 5 players. They rotate highly through only 7-8 players. Like Ben Simmons at the 76ers, hes built like a power forward but plays point guard. So I see a similarity with AFL where its more heres our 18 players with jobs and roles against your team and game plan, therefore each teams positions and labels would have some crossover but be unique to the team.

I don't know if there is enough of a pool of talent for a 19th team to be competitive.

Trade Targets
If Harmes kicks 3 goals instead of 3 points on the weekend then no ones talking about his place in the side. Constantly gets it, might not be as clean as other players but he defends hard and finds himself in the right positions to impact the game. In regards to his fend offs, it seems he looks for the contact first rather than using it as a tool to push off his opponents to gain space and thats where he gets in a bit of trouble. I love that he gives it a crack through, the dude bleeds red and blue.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Gold Coast
I think keeping an AFL team goal-less for 90 minutes was pretty great to watch. It looked like the team never wanted them to score no matter how far up they were.

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Western Bulldogs
I think he was trying to do the work the others couldn't in those cases for a very undermanned Casey. He was hitting alot of targets earlier and in previous weeks before his injury

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Western Bulldogs
You're right about his decision making, Baker ran himself into trouble a couple times. I think Jones would bring a bit of maturity to the field that we have been lacking lately

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Western Bulldogs
Bakers kicking is a real let down, he reads the ball well and has some great pace Jones looked good and has some really nice kicks, I think were missing him a bit in the seniors Lockhart, Declase, Turner all look worth pursuing with

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 v Gold Coast Part 1
As you alluded too, AFL players adhere to different protocols. That is what makes me think they would be restricted to the plane, especially when they are awaiting their next destination. To let people off the plane means when they get that clearance they have to go through the whole boarding procedure again where the pilots will generally rather keep the passengers on the plane, which I have experienced before with emergency landing/flight destination changes. But really, we are both just guessing here aren't we?

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 v Gold Coast Part 1
You'd think this would be possible. The only things I can see getting in the way are: Gold Coast being allowed to travel into Melbourne by Plane How long do Melbourne need to quarantine before playing West Coast in Perth (Is it 7 days?)
