2022 Player Reviews: #23 James Jordon

So many seem to think he alone is the momentum killer. It is our gameplan guys...we all flood back and often we have zero options forward of wing. He should be pushing either Harmes or Sparrow out of the team as he is better than both currently + more flexible to play other roles. Highly doubt he plays many/any games for Casey next year. If Oliver ever is to get injured, would be one of our 1st picked mids. Criminally underrated player imo....will only get better.

Played a few good games this year. Was a much better year the one prior. For a Senior player he lacks consistency for me. Could never doubt his effort, just his output/skills. Each to their own though!

		In what Universe??

After watching most of the Brisbane games this year, would have to disagree....And i love Oliver as a player! Neale literally carried his team most of the season, had some phenomenal games and much more damaging with ball in hand.

Makes me wonder....Are they all directed to bomb into that pocket? Imo that "should" be the last option when nothing else is on. Is gameplan a reason we are not showing much creativity? Are we told just to execute basic skills and not really take the game on? Are we just lazy and all head for that pocket and repeat? Do we not have a good forwards coach that is teaching them any forward craft? Our crumbers are rarely front and square. Our talls are rarely leadiing. Imo there is so much that needs to come together in the forward half of ground, we just look amateur in this area. Still not sold on ANB or Spargo as forwards, they work hard defensively but not doing enough in the forward half. Maybe a few personnel changes would help us too? Interested to hear what other posters think in regards to our forward issues and how we go about getting better in this area.

2022 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Pretty please Simon! Put him forward next year. We got plenty of defenders, + our whole team floods back. Lets have a bit of talent and grunt in the forward half. He will mark, and more reliably bring it to ground than any of our current forwards. He will pressure/tackle when the ball hits the ground and make others walk taller around him due to his contested work...He will also kick many goals. Honestly if i see us devoid of forward options and he is still playing back i will vomit. We may lose something in the backline...but the gains in the forward half could be greater. We want to play a forward half game but from what i saw this year BB was such a liability when the ball hit the deck it was very easy rebounding for oppositions. Petty would be much tougher for opposition to exploit.

		2022 Player Reviews: #45 Andy Moniz-Wakefield

Bit of X factor about him from what i have seen. Doesn't get a heap of the ball, but seems to look good every time he has it. Barely seen him waste a possession. Massive upside if his skills translate to the higher level. Lots to work with, fingers crossed he develops quickly!

2022 Player Reviews: #40 Taj Woewodin

One to watch. Very neat disposal skills. Tough for his current size (goes in hard). Seems to have good tank and runs hard both ways. In the Grand Final there were few plays where he ran the length of the ground to be the last man taking the mark in defense. Reminds me a bit of Langer with the gut running to help out team. We are crying out for more good users of the ball (can't have enough of them). Selfless role player and should fit into our team nicely. Hope to see him make a debut next year!

Tmac seems the only real option. Our forward line approach seems like everybody for themselves. There really does not seem to be a solid system that is repeatable, nor creative. We need lot of work in this area...and a lot more accountability from players in this area of the ground.

Yeah, a lot of petty personal insults. Disgraceful. Many of the insults are from absolute nuffies, who just don't rate anyone outside the stars of the competition. He will play senior footy for us next year and will do some good/great things for us. Similar to those whacking Hunter because he had some issues when breaking up with a partner and went off the rails. He will be regular 22 and probably in our top 5 for B&F. Looking forward to seeing what both can offer us! Stop relentlessly bashing strangers. It honestly reflects more on you than anything or anyone else....i am talking about a LOT of you :P

		Farewell Sam Weideman

Fairly sure our selection policy is garbage. Simon has to learn to make changes week to week and within games. Got great confidence in our list managers, not so much on the coaching front. As a team we show little flexibility or flare, i think a lot of that is down to coaching/game plan. Most coaches currently would do great with the talent on our list. Supporters are not aware of our list needs? Would actually question this, many here seem to have a good grasp on our needs when it comes to the types of players we require.

I laughed at this part, it was all complimentary up and until then! Quite a bizarre thing to say in the wrap up!

Could see BT just calling him the Gruz.....Very much in the too hard category!

As a replacement for Weideman i think this actually pretty sound. He is a 3rd ruck back up. May just take his chance at a new club, who knows!? It is a free stab, at a talented tall, who will come cheap, who may surprise. If it happens hopefully plays his best footy with us!

PODCAST: Season Review & Trade Wrap

Petty is an interesting one! I think we almost have to take the risk and get him to train as a forward next year....If it fails he can still go back, i just simply think we need more talent and grunt in the forward half. I think he is almost Naughton like the way he throws himself in for marks. Turner/Tomlinson as possible replacements for his back role. Bowey is one i think just has to be played. He has skillset we just don't have much/any of....one touch sweeper who makes great decisions by hand or foot and can execute bullet like passes. Whether we play him as half back/half forward or wing i just think he has to be in the side. Chandler is one would expect to get some regular gametime next year. Could be a damaging half forward but also i think could be a weapon to be used for fast breaks from the middle. Hope to see him utilised and experimented with. Imo would add more to our clearance work than Kozzie in there anyway. Our selection policy sucked this year. We did not give much opportunity to any of the fringe players. Hopefully we are much bolder and prepared to drop/promote players a lot more regurlarly, whether through injury or lack of form. By trading Hunt/Bedford/Jackson/& likely Weideman we are going to be forced to give more opportunity to some of the fringe players. JVR/Turner/Chandler and few others should all get chances to impress.

		Farewell Luke Jackson

Or maybe "Dealings with a Bell end" bell·end [ˈbɛlɛnd] NOUN BRITISH vulgar slang the glans of the penis. an annoying or contemptible man: "he is a total bellend and should step down as soon as possible"

		Welcome to Demonland Lachie Hunter

Super talented player who may just relish being given an outside running role with lots of inside bulls. Wanted Amon but i think this could be pretty good left field option. He walks into our wing position over any of our current players. He is better on the offensive side of the ground so would make a perfect complement to Langdon who is more defensive winger. Has really nice left foot and regularly nails his passes....We are looking for connection....having Salem/Bowey/Hunter in the team would sure help in that space.

		Trade and Free Agency rumours

Some good points but we did actually add Ben Brown which went long way towards winning us a Premiership....He was banged up this year, as were many others. Our selection policy re injured players is one of the biggest things we need to change for following year. Mostly i think we have the personnel.....Just some tweaks in gameplan, ball movement and selection integrity and we will be right in the mix again.

		Farewell Sam Weideman

SO you are happy with him with him as back up, but not happy to have to use him at any stage. I think Weideman if he was picked as back up ruck/forward, would be very similar to what we got from LJ this year.....He is just not a pure forward, the hybrid role suits him better. He finds a way to get into the game rather than having a few opportunities in our forward half, not taking them, and losing confidence , then dropped again. Has been a cycle that needs to stop. Much like Silvagni from Carlton. Would get much more consistent performances if he was in the play more often. He is creative enough with handballs etc to make the role work. Unfortunately i think he has been pigeon-holed into a role that does not suit him. Personally i think he still has a bit to offer, just currently not being utilised at all well.

		Farewell Jayden Hunt

I would agree if that was all there was to the equation. Would you rather see Bowey in the team or Hunt? Where does our future lie?! Not sure that Smith will ever get a lucky run being injury free to fulfil his potential, but imo he shows a more well- rounded game. We need to make tough decisions with players that are 26, 27, 28, 29 not being inside our 10 best players. We got a few NQR's that will likely not develop much more than they are currently. We got some talented kids trying to get a shot. If this forces Goodwin to pick one of them because Hunt is gone...i think this is a good thing for us going forward!

		Farewell Jayden Hunt

Jayden has always been a good athlete. Just not what i would call a natural footballer. Much like Frost he was unpredictable to his teammates. Although he runs fast, he runs in straight lines and often ran himself into trouble. He has played 40 games in last few years but is not vital for us imo. Usually i would put him bottom 1-10 players so i can see why Melbourne may have lowballed him on offer/duration. We need natural footballers not just athletes who adapt. Joel Smith is another like Hunt, but probably has bigger upside and on less coin. I wish him all the best luck finding new home. He is unlikely to show any further improvement at this stage of his career. Others need the development time.

		Jordan De Goey

Pure conjecture but what if the behavioural clauses state they can dock half his contract or simply delist him as they see fit? I can see why he would not not want to sign something like that.....and the clauses are probably pages long. Collingwood will either look weak and relent on some of the clauses or will likely lose him to St Kilda, who will have many less clauses attached to his contract. Tricky one to negotiate for the Pies! Suffer!

		Jack Bowes Salary Dump

It definitely would. Somehow i think they don't have that much room salary cap wise if they low balling player like Acres, and still going to need hefty $$$ for Jackson. Lobb and few others to move yet though, so never know?!

		Jack Bowes Salary Dump

Heard yesterday on radio he is on around 850K for last 2 years of his contract....Hence why the pick 7 involved....500K they would have every club trying to make it happen!! *Sorry similar to another post i just saw.

		Farewell Toby Bedford

Chandler has some real jets, would be similar pace to Bedford at top speed. One of the training sessions i went to in match sims i recall was exceptional....He gathered the ball just outside the arc one handed, ran full speed at 4-5 players, baulked and shimmied around all of them the kicked a beautiful checkside goal from about 40 out. Was one of the most electrifying bits of footy i ever seen, was totally surprised to see it during a practice session! Imo Bedford gets to top pace a bit quicker but Chandler would not be far off. Kozzie, Chandler & Bedford would cause nightmares for opposition teams, really hope to see it this coming season!
