Liam Ryan apparently being monitored by Vic clubs, only 28, would we be interested?

Mcreery and Windhager would be ones I would chase.....Something would have to give from our end, but it is doable if we get nearly everything right around draft time.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Are we? Happy to revisit this! Which part do you think Bucks would be worse at than Goody? His communication skills alone are so much clearer...Is he stubborn? Does he play faves? Does he only have one idea, one gameplan? You are guessing and clutching at straws. Guarantee we will be a better team next year. I would bet on it!

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Goodwin also thought we would make finals last year + this year. With so many senior players playing well below their best, standards had dropped off. Particularly effort. Our list is far better than what we have dished up last 2 1/2 years. I think think this is why we had to move on from Simon, his faith in his premiership players was unshakeable. Yet half our list did not seem to embrace the change in style. His messages were stale, was he clear enough with gameplan and how to execute....I have had my doubts for long time, results say it was time. His statement he made after the St Kilda loss imo is what lost him the job. Along the lines of there was plenty of things to be liked in that last 3 to 4 minutes. Delusional if he truly thought that. Members threatening not to renew and the feral reactions from supporter base. I don't think Simon read the room. Not much in that last quarter , let alone last few minutes was acceptable...especially vs St Kilda who are imo a much worse team than us. Onwards and upwards from here, we are going to bounce back into contention next year for finals is my gut feel.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Not sure why Richardson gets so much unwarranted hate. Met him a year or so back and chatted to him in depth for about 30 minutes. He is insightful, astute, was blown away with all he had to say. Super impressive human being. My guess is Jordan Lewis will at least be added to that panel....is Roos available also? I think you want a breadth of people on the committee, footy people or not they will all see different pros and cons from each candidate.

What the New Coach needs to fix?
Basic skills focus, get the simple things right more often. I know McRae does basic skills every session....we do not have great kickers, or handballers...every player can improve on their skill set, we should dictate at least 15 minutes every session on upping our skills. Scrap the soccer as a regular gig...occasionally, sure. Flexibility.?...I know we have midfield, backs and forward groups. Is it possible to move players into other groups to promote versatility? Pigeon holing blokes into one role does not help development. Including players in different groups would see our overall synergy improve. Freedom....to play exciting footy without fear of making mistakes. This one is on the incoming coach. Demand them to take the game on. Ie Salem I do not care if you have 90+% disposal efficiency. Want you to take the metres gained, roll off the mark, play on lot more often. More areas that I think that needs to be addressed, maybe in another post. Basic skills should be our focus though, it is where we would get our biggest bang for buck.

PODCAST: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Who actually is in the leadership group? Presume Viney, May, Lever, Gawn...curious to know the others?

POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Maybe you should heed that last sentence, honestly it is boring hearing you defend everything MFC. While I like a lot of your content, and admire your loyalty, it must get boring to have to defend them at every given opportunity? Right or wrong we all have different views.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Actually was stated by Hird himself, categorically said he was not interested in being a senior coach.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Windsor may be the one, but I actually think Bowey would be closest thing we have to Richards, both developed as half backers. Bowey hopefully is on similar trajectory!

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
To go along with a narrative we needed a new voice. Chaplin has been there 8 years, he is was never going to be that new voice. The board would likely have told him you should just enjoy the coaching gig for 3 games. Don't put your time into applying for the job, we don't want to waste your time, or ours! I think these next 3 games will help his credentials to being a senior coach either way. Fwiw if he had the opportunity to coach Melbourne he would want it 100%. We are super likely to be the ones pushing him not to apply....Not that he would prefer to coach anywhere BUT Melbourne imo

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
The buck stops with the head coach....He did not even skip a beat when saying it, cracked me up! He will make a great coach for us where players can play exciting footy without fear of failure. Imo our club has been a pressure cooker for our players for last few years. Goodwin always seemed a tad on edge, and our players I think took that onto the field. Too many seemed afraid of making mistakes. Exciting times ahead, we are far better than what we have shown last few years. I predict that bunch of stagnant players will revitalise their careers and motivation/ excitement levels and we will bounce back into finals next year.

Farewell Judd McVee
Trust folks! We never announce contract extensions off losses. Our next win is when I would expect news regarding his extension. That is, if we can win another game. Have never seen us extend a player after a loss, it just is not the "timing". Only other scenario I can see if he plays a cracker in an honourable loss, maybe they extend as we are running out of time to get that win on the board.

Max should look at Draper's routine from Essendon. It would work for him far better than what he does currently. Explore different techniques and find a something that works for each individual. I learnt to drop the ball in under 12's with a great coach who made every one of us kick further and get our ball drops right. For the ball drop we were dropping the balls into buckets, perfect for drop punts. Then for kicking further we had a line where we would kick the ball from and another one half a metre or so further past that. It taught us to jump through that line and we all improved both distance and accuracy. Drives me crazy most of our players do not get their ball drop right, or kick actually through the ball. It is pretty basic stuff that would make many of them far better field kicks and also kicking for goal. Too many lean back and the ball goes anywhere.

Great idea. Specsavers would surely tip in as sponsors for such an initiative.- Time to go Goody?
Hmm on Fritta, I thought was our best player in that 1st quarter, barely saw him do anything in the next 3 though, even though the ball was in our f 50 plenty enough to impact in some way. On this year I think I would be trading him. His effort is so sporadic. Effort to me is a non negotiable. He has the talent. Petty should be on the best intercept defender and told to stop him, would go long way to stop the easy rebounds, and as we all know he can defend quite well. Offence will come off the back of that.- Time to go Goody?
You could see the warning signs early vs St Kilda. Reminded me of similar issues when we are playing badly, a complete lack of focus in a bunch of areas that are important.( if you want to win games of footy). We went back to guarding grass, all running backwards to try and stop the Saints on transition, no pressure on the ball carrier, defenders giving opponents 5-10 metres of latitude and the result was expected. I thought Goodwin had turned a corner with actually tagging players, it stopped Viney and then Oliver being headless chickens that just see ball, get ball and actually have a more refined focus. It interrupted the opposition team and gave us better structure. Did he not respect the opposition to go away from this? Same with our forwards, Melksham and Petty seemed to play far better interrupting the oppos intercept defenders. Seems crazy we go away from what was working, negating opponents strengths. Then you have Sinclair and Wanganeen Milera, clearly their best players that were given free reign all day. Odd tactics if you ask me. Did we just not respect the Saints and figured we would win on talent alone? It seems when we play better opposition's we have a firm plan, against lesser ones though I really feel the game plan goes out the window. Respect every opponent, every team has good players that are integral to their system. Another issue that seems to resurface when we are off is that we have a heap of bees at the honeypot. We give opponents the outside and they invariably punish us for it. I see these issues as even more important than rectifying our wayward goal kicking. That should be worked on every training session, especially our designated forwards.- Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Actually noticed he was lot further up the ground for most of game. My guess would be as last line of defence he was struggling if the ball hit the deck. Being further up the ground it is not so catastrophic if he fumbles a ground ball. Personally i think he has been pretty out of form the last few weeks and actually struggling to bend over and pick up the ball. Also he has more opportunities to use his reasonably good foot skills to better effect having more options through half back and middle of the ground. As great as both Lever and May have been in last line of defence, i think both are a little flaky if they do not mark or spoil it out of bounds. Bowey/Mcvee/Tomlinson/Rivers...even our wings are probably more suited to that last line for us these days.- PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Read your inbox. I know you don't like to hear ANYTHING negative about our players or coaches or anything MFC. I will not be posting on this forum for some time so that is one less person you going to have to ignore. Believe it or not... was just posting what i thought even though it might have been horribly slanted towards the negative. It was not written to hurt yours or other peoples feelings, and for others to jump down my throat because they simply disagree or don't like the manner in which i attacked a coach of the precious MFC we all love. I get it, i defend our players and coaches too when i feel they are getting attacked, especially if it is not warranted or ignorant. ANyway, not sure why i even bothered to respond...i am out.- PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Tomlinson was actually dropped after Collingwood game. You are saying i am off the mark and lack footy knowledge is simply not true, Last 2 weeks we been dominated by the best intercepting defender...Stewart then Haynes. Earlier in the year it was no accident that Petty was playing lock down roles on these type guys, and although we were not getting high value goal output. It was stopping the intercept mark and rebounds being allowed to start freely. Not at all what i was suggesting. Petty forward/Tomlinson back.- PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Ok. My deal is i live for football, i am no less passionate about it than you and spend much of my days talking about my beloved football club. Because i say anything disparaging about the coaches or the players for that matter, is becuase i am passionate and i care too much if anything. If we loved and supported our team all in the same manner it would be a pretty boring forum fwiw. Your comments show maybe you care too much also. I am not here to start drama. Most of the time i am just typing what i think or feel, much less eloquently than others. To say that the Demons don't need passionate supporters like me who actually walks around in Melbourne gear most of my days is really insulting, just because i don't share your exact views. Put me on ignore, if that is what you need to do. Sorry my posts upset you.- PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Neither of them have been in good form, so my answer would be no they probably saw it coming. Tomlinson on the other hand would have been utterly shocked after one of his best performances in red and blue. We have not won since he was dropped. i will ask you a question in all seriousness...Do you think Spargo has done anything to get back into the team? Or BB/Harmes/Melksham over Tomlinson for their form?- PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda

JVR was actually having more success at halving contests...as was Petty. How many marks do you think BB will take the way we deliver the ball? You are correct in saying he can't pick it up. It is like we are hoping BB is the answer to our forward woes, when the method is the thing that is broken. Shifting personnel is not going to change much result-wise. - Goalkicking
