  1. Sarong, But oh so right! It's how i feels when barracking for anyone vs Freo. They really could be bottom 4, even NM, Hawks, GCS are all chances of winning more games atm. West Coast are looking a likely spooner.
  2. On what wage or position!? Have not seen him play a great game in at least 3-4 years now. Don't think any club would be interested....Really sad for a multiple Brownlow winner!
  3. Jiust add the 30 minutes for ANY sports as they often go into the next program. It is not a waste of memory, you simply delete after watching it anyway most times. If you want to continue to pull your hair out missing end of sporting events don't add it :P Simples!
  4. Tomlinson should be next in pecking order he has done everything to stay in contention. Blake Howes had his best game last week but i would be letting him replicate that for few more weeks to be more AFL ready.
  5. Was from one of the Sydney posters....i should have checked it b4 posting that part, we actually kicked 7 for last Q.
  6. Much to like, in no particular order! Coaching....Often playing Sydney, games are lost within the coaching box. It was nice to see Goodwin/Yze making some wholesale changes. Sydney usually just sweat on us to win clearances (Like Brisbane did most of last week). We let them win the ball, and sweated on them instead. We start adding these layers and we are going to be fearful to play against. Players are in better positions when we man the outside too. It is a subtle shift we needed to make. We have been beaten in the same manner many times. Hunters>Hunted! Petty and JVR were both huge for us in the forward half. Most kicks in their vicinity were brought to ground, our smaller guys relished this and our forward line looked better than it has in a long time. Nearly every team has a CHB type like Mccartin...Petty could be huge in this role as it stops a lot of the rebound they get from taking intercept marks all day. Chandler was exceptional all over the ground, so much to like about his game...his best so far! McVee is amazing, he just glides through traffic. Stunned how quickly he is coming on! Spargo. Probably the most impactful 6 possession game i ever seen. The bunny hop contender for mark of the year, could not stop laughing! JVR, take a bow kid! First minute injected into the game and he lays a massive bump. Competes all day, brought ball to ground regularly, tackled and looked a nice kick. Great debut! JJ played a great game. Was creative, hit targets and even showed some flair. If he plays like this on the regular, Harmes is going to find it impossible to get back into the team as a mid. Grundy & Hunter their best games for the Dees so far. Both building and fitting in nicely. All of our regular guns played well enough, but i thought our bottom 6 today were suberb. If Viney is your weakest link you have sooooooo much to be bullish about! It seems to contend this year, going to need to kick big scores. There are not too many that could kick 11 in the last quarter. Both Melbourne and Collingwood are going to blow some teams away in short periods. So glad we have shifted away from defensive style to a much more dynamic and inspiring style where players get to show their skills. So much to build on and get excited about! Go Demons!!!
  7. Thank god honestly. Picking an out of form/unfit Tom has already helped derail previous seasons. Picking "fit" players in a brutal game > someone that can't really jump or run but is tall and sometimes competes. If we learnt anything from last year it should be not playing injured or out of form players til it is way too late.
  8. I believe this is assessed over a 2 year period. Why we did not receive compensation after dropping to 17th in 2019.
  9. Really? At this stage of the season no way they are tanking. Results-wise you could say Doggies were tanking with a vastly superior list. How about Freo? GWS? If this thread was 20 rounds into season and the have lost every game up until that point by 10+ goals it has some merit....But until that time, this is actually one of the most ridic threads i seen on Demonland. Call me an Ostrich, they clearly have more sense than some of these humans!
  10. Doggies tanking also....Ridiculous to think anyone is tanking 2 rounds in to the season. Take your meds!
  11. Hard to get a grip on this one...Not much went right! Reading through the pregame stuff here on Demonland gave me some concerns. Overly confident, we are going to smash them because X,Y,Z and Brisbane are bad. I just pictured our team lapping it all up on the plane ride there and getting a false sense of where we are actually at. i don't think one person predicted Brisbane would win this one. Goodwin has really not learnt from last years mistakes. Rushing back stars who have not trained properly/full intensity for nearly a month is not good practice. It will continue to backfire....pick FIT players. Watched Harmes pretty closely last night and there were stages where he was just running around, just trying to touch the ball, no keeping structure, no hand on opponents, so little impact at any stage. He needs to be dropped off back of that. JJ/JVR/Scache, honestly anyone replaces him, he would not be missed on back of performance like that. Melksham i said at end of last year that we are going nowhere while he is in the team. Put in a talented kid like JVR instead, give him a chance. Could not be worse. Both Viney and Fritsch looked like they could have played for Casey this week....they needed the hitout. Stop rushing in stars that are NQR! Seeing last month or so of training reports most of could see neither were prepared for this. We missed so many opportunities to move the ball better...instead we chose to burn the easy 15-25m targets that were in the clear, to kick it straight to the extra defender. It must have happened 20-30 times i saw, direct turnovers for no reason other than bad choices by so many players....Is this part of our gameplan? We have a few good decision makers, but yikes we have a lot of guys that seem to opt for the worst choices possible, just need to be better. Use your eyes and skills, you train all week to be better not just dump kicks to outnumbers. Devastating to lose Max. We have options in Schache/JVR as possible replacements for him. Have to include at least one of them next week.....Tmac will burnout fast if he has to play this role for long.
  12. Precedence with Cripps case says he should get off....Personally i think these type incidents deserve a week or 2. The tribunal will find this a tough case for round 1....They will really want to rub him out for "pure optics"....There is no way he should be suspended if we are to take Cripps case seriously. Seems to be all about the damage inflicted, regardless of intent. Play ON....by the AFL's dodgy interpretations and precedents! Rioli for West Coast also got away with a pretty ugly looking one i thought he would also get weeks for. Who knows when it comes to the tribunal....Get a good lawyer Kozzie!
  13. Of all the Bulldog goals on the night i reckon Baker got the loudest cheer, was a good moment for him!
  14. i watched their praccy match and was one of the thing that really surprised me...all 4 of their big blokes put extreme pressure on at ground level. Beveridge also reiterated at some stage that for their forward line to work all of them are going to need to put pressure on balls whether they are in the air, or on the ground. They actually looked really dynamic and dangerous i thought....i certainly won't be under rating their talls or the impact they can have. Going to be a really tough matchup for us!
  15. Curious re Fritsch! He has not trained for like 3-4 weeks now? So many have him in the team....surely he is not remotely prepared for a hitout like this? CHandler i think has to stay within the team....He kicked 1.3 and had hands in several others. He had a better game then Tmac/BB imo and does not deserve to get dropped for narrowly missing a few shots.
  16. You don't think he has a huge role to play? I would say the head coach actually has more influence on success/failure than the talent of any list. If it were up to the players for selection and gameplan they would all just pick themselves....the coach has a fair influence on the way a club performs, in fact he is the single biggest driving factor when it comes to success or failure. Is he going to be rigid or flexible, who knows!!!? Not sure this is in the modern myths of football category just simply because you don't agree with it!
  17. No worries at all WCW! I should have not posted before my morning coffee either haha. I love our team and think they can only get better. But to get to truly great levels i believe Simon will have to release the shackles and let them play with some sort of freedom. Maybe it is just me being weird..... Can defend the players until the end of time, just don't feel the same way about a head coach who was gifted a pretty amazing list. Has Yze/Richardson/Choco possibly the best assistant coaches with senior experience around him. Will be forever thankful for that Premiership and Goodwin's role in helping us achieve it! Really just hope he keeps evolving as a coach...we have the talent within our list to win more Premierships and really should....Our future success will depend on how flexible Simon is when it comes down to it.
  18. We beat Brisbane so easily during the year....Let's risk it in a do or die final with quarter of our best players under massive injury clouds. We are sooooo much better than Brisbane. We got their measure~! Dumb coaching, dumb for players to put their hands up to play when under done. I still question whether Goodwin is the right guy.....Most coaches in the AFL would do great with our list. Seems way too predictable and uninspiring in a number of areas.....Team selection/ team flexibility/game plan/non use of super sub. As a team it looked like it was a grind to play and there seemed to be very little flair after the first five games of the season or so. We tried to win every game in the same or similar fashion. Hopefully we allow a bit more creative flair this year! I fear if we continue to play a dour style we will start off the season great but fade as the season goes on . It looks boring to play our style, it is often boring to watch.....We got so many players with x factor, allow them to use it!
  19. It seems like Garry tried to get back on topic. Then the caller was cut from the air. Having lived in Australia my whole life, i see Aussies as getting better/more aware with racism, but by no means is it stamped out, and likely to never be entirely. Ignorance is not an excuse these days. While we still have powerful people like McGuire who make casual "jokes" about king-kong, it is going to be a long drawn out battle to eradicate. Nobody is inherently born racist as far as i know. My own parents don't believe the stolen generation actually happened. Have had so many arguments over the years on the subject, and they are far from ignorant people. They seem to have a train of thought that acceptance on the matter implies they were condoning it in some way. When Kevin Rudd said his sorry speech, i applauded it. Again though, the folks thought it was just a grab for money down the track, and they were not the guilty ones again, so they had nothing to be sorry for. Trying to educate people who are late into their life lives is almost impossible....But we do stand a chance with future generations of being much less toxic or accepting when it comes to all things racist. Acceptance seems to be a term thrown around a lot these days...We all need to get better at it, regardless of colour/race/religion/sexuality. The world will become a better place the more we stamp it out.
  20. Looks a little like Brayshaw to me!
  21. https://www.afl.com.au/news/870870/son-of-port-adelaide-great-peter-burgoyne-trent-vafa-star-kye-turner-in-bid-to-earn-melbourne-demons-spot Thanks for the great reports on training guys, appreciated!
  22. Don't get me wrong, i appreciate all he did in our Premiership season. Last season though he seemed to have very little impact....in fact he went backwards imo. Personally i rated some of the things he did on the field as exciting, but his consistency may be years away, in fact it may never come. Is he a ruck/a forward/a midfielder? I would say he falls way below expectations on any of those roles currently. As for being childish with the mum insults, it was said tongue in cheek...i could care less what happens to Luke or his mum now he is not one of ours. Just making a prediction that he won't live up to Freo's expectations. He is getting paid like an elite player now, with this comes much greater responsibility....Not sure he is ready for all that entails. Fremantle supporters will expect great things from him on a weekly basis. Apart from being a great athlete i don't think he has the skills/craft to be an elite player wherever placed on the field. Contributing will not be enough given his pay packet If i actually posted any of what you quoted it would have been from 2021....2022 he was super disappointing...His contract discussion was a constant distraction, his form tapered off, by end of year i thought he barely warranted a place in the seniors. After reading 315 pages on him, rightly or wrongly i am entitled to an opinion on him. I do actually watch every match and have an idea on his actual strengths and weaknesses.
  23. Luke i predict will not live up to Freo's expectations at all this year. He will have some good moments, but will frustrate the coach/supporters/players by chasing the ball around the park. He is not going to be a superstar of the competition, will just be happy just chasing that ball. He often plays like a suburban footballer who shows little respect to positioning or his craft. Will be a massive bust for Freo, they will expect big things from him given his pricetag, i think he will falter under the expectation. By end of season i expect he will be under immense pressure. His mum will then tell him none of that matters...as long as he is a good person.
  24. Bags of 9, 4, 8, 24, 3, 5. That is really impressive! Be exciting one to watch. Just a hunch watching the highlights.... he will be playing senior footy this year. Casey games we are going to have lot of players to track. We got a lot of talent developing, exciting times!
