  1. Think Clarko will have a pretty quick answer to our short kick inside 50 set piece? Me too. Perhaps we just surprise them and start bombing it in again.
  2. Good chance our Sunday game will then run into a Thursday or Fri game as they look to squeeze more matches into this next block. Most likely any change would be load management related. E.g someone like an AVB out (even though I thought he did some important things late) for a fitter Tomlinson, with AVB back the following week for someone else who would struggle to get up for another short turnaround (maybe a Brayshaw).
  3. I was frustrated with Melksham early. Thought he could’ve stalked the CHF area better when we had nobody else around. But when we are at our best he is a big part of it. 15 touches and a goal tonight not the worst result on paper. I wouldn’t drop him vs Hawthorn - could use his experience/craftiness.
  4. Surely Gary has hit his ‘mist’ quota already?
  5. Tad harsh. Inherited Goodwin’s contract extension so is limited in his capacity to impact football performance. Tick on new sponsors. Tick on a healthy(ish) balance sheet which will give us a fighting chance of avoiding AFL intervention. Too early to tell on finding a new home - certainly hasn’t succeeded on that front but that is a long range project so deserves more time. My biggest query on him is his role in endorsing the coaching changes (and bringing a failed coach in Richardson in to support a coach under pressure) but that really should sit on Mahoney’s shoulders first.
  6. I’d call Paul Roos and firmly tell him the coach he gave us is broken and he has to come back and hang around until he fixes it.
  7. Too lazy (or scared) to read this thread but they need to try him in frwd line for a significant chunk of time in a game. That should be a kick up the [censored]. If that doesn’t work, then the magoos. I have a sick feeling in my stomach that his disposal in the middle is a HUGE part of our overall problem and isn’t fixable
  8. Dees beat them in an ANZAC Eve match (possibly the first ever one?) the same week Tom Hafey passed away. Hogan came onto the scene that night. Did one on Rance from memory
  9. The ‘aints have certainly got a few things right of late; - got rid of a sub-standard coach (we’ll take him thanks - yoink!) - decided to pay the 40c to give Butler a call (we pocketed the 40c) - traded for outside class (well, we got outside players in but arguably not class) - drafted a young tall who can catch the football (we traded our pick for an old bloke who looks like he eats footballs) - got a talented (albeit flawed) footy department boss. It is a sad day when you’re jealous of StK.
  10. I think my highest hope in life is; - MFC win a flag before Howe retires - Howe does not win a flag before Howe retires.
  11. I understand the love for Lockhart but I just can’t see them axing Hibberd. Surely you give him another crack at it.
  12. Either old mate on the text is struggling to understand Jacko or he has religion on his mind...
  13. Possibly the play with Jackson is they want Max to spend more time up frwd with TMac (to expose a short Carlton backline) and they felt more comfortable with Jackson (over Weid) doing more minutes in the middle.
  14. The challenge with Weid is he is not a natural forward. He played his junior years almost exclusively as a ruckman. I hold some hope (not loads though) that given the relative newness of the craft he just needs a bit more time for it to click. Am a bit surprised they never attempted to get a look at him down back ala Darcy Moore.
  15. Ok. Weid isn’t up to it and there are better options.
  16. Really? Only 1 player in 720-odd wins the Brownlow each year... he has had a handful (at most) of excellent games in his career. Travis Johnstone says hi by the way.
  17. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to see him play but he’s not Chris Judd.
  18. A skilled midfielder? Sure. Someone who has never played a final? We’ve had plenty of both.
  19. Not sure poor old Weid would survive the Demonland-lynching in the likely event of a goalless outing against Weitering. Play Jackson for confidence. Or play Brown - it’s the sort of side he would feast on.
  20. Hannebery at 2? Breust ahead of Shuey? Walters ahead of Beames? I’m already looking forward to the 2008-redraft redraft in 12 years’ time.
  21. Waiting to see if we will ever get the ‘connection between mids and forwards’ right is annoyingly similar to the wait for Ben Simmons’ jump shot.
  22. We’ve got Carlton it appears. Saturday twilight.
  23. Think this matter might be more ‘private’ in nature than some of the more sinister assumptions people are making. Still pretty f’d up though.
  24. Our bigs are clear bottom-4 in the air. Our smalls don’t apply anywhere near enough pressure. Disastrous mix, sadly.
