  1. This is basically saying Lobb & Naughton are of equal trade value? Would’ve thought that is quite the distance from reality…
  2. I don’t have the stats but my best guess (or at least my perception) is that his goal/behind stat line this yr was flattered by the fact that; - goal/behind stats don’t account for complete misses - both out on full or not making the distance - max gets a lot of his shots within a very easy range (small angle within 30) and therefore should be converting better than 50% Not arguing the others weren’t poor also.
  3. Fix his kicking and play him forward more surely is the right strategy. I’m surprised there has been zero comment from Max/club about how he is going to fix his goal kicking technique in the off-season. It was beyond woeful this year. Clubs appear to have pulled back investment in goal kicking coaches/mentors and I know for a fact that Max once independently (and quietly) sought help from a famous ex-forward and told him he was unclear why Melbourne didn’t help him more with structured coaching around this specific skill.
  4. Or two firsts and a second is on brief, isn’t it? This yr 1st/next yr 1st/ this yr second
  5. With Bell-end behind the wheel I’m expecting him to trade in other players eg Sharp before he gets to the jackson deal
  6. There is some negative recency bias on Grundy - largely because he has been absent in a season where Collingwood turned things around. I’m genuinely not sure whether 50% forward line time is feasible though… never kicked more than 12 in a season and even though that may be because he hasn’t spent time there I’m sure they experimented with this a bit with Cox in the side.
  7. This is spot on. They’re not letting him go because he isn’t good at football. They’re letting him go because his value equation has changed for them, partly because of form last 18 months but mainly because they have a game plan that doesn’t really need him. edit: * doesn’t really need some of his cost occupying that role *
  8. Freo demanded and received pick 2 for Lachie Weller. They demanded and received pick 6 for Cerra. Two ‘pretty good’ but relatively unremarkable players (in the scheme of top 10 picks) We have a 21 year old pick 3 KPP who has won a premiership, a rising star award and is a generational talent. You can only hope Tim Lamb is constantly reminding Bell-end of this every time they pick up the phone.
  9. Geel prelim ‘21?
  10. They were just fortunate enough to line up against some pea-hearted witches hats in their gf
  11. Gee the cats did a good job in the pre-season. Stengle and the emergence of Atkins and De Koning.
  12. Lacks defensive presence?
  13. 5 & 7 feels overs for pick 2 but IF they were able to swindle that the deal with Melbourne feels about right…
  14. Yep I’m all for Sheezel too. Anyone know if he kicks straight??
  15. Recent record with tall, top 20 lads from the region hasn’t been great… I’m the vindictive type so I just sincerely hope Melbourne (& others) persistently harass the living daylights out of Victorian players drafted to WA & SA with ridiculous come-home offers.
  16. and then request a trade back home to Perf
  17. I have some intel that Tomlinson is far more advanced in thinking/planning for life after footy than he is thinking about a major shift for another footy contract
  18. My only prediction for the silly season is this; I think West Coast’s list manager (completely unknown to me until today) has the potential to get to Adrian Dodoro/ Peter Bell levels of unlikeability and Mark Neeld/Barry Prendergast levels of incompetence. - he isn’t going to be ‘gun shy’ (but has already taken pick 2 off the table) - has expressed serious level of confidence in convincing Jackson and getting the deal done (but hasn’t spoken to him yet). Come on old mate.
  19. Come to Junction Oval - we’ve got more of a ‘dinner at expensive French restaurants’ vibe going on down here
  20. Are there any promising goal-kicking coaches available in this year’s batch?
  21. Yeah I understand your point about regular Victorians feeling like we drew the short straw on the Covid front but WA players in the AFL were; - in hubs during the season (remembering ALL AFL players were under some form of restriction during the season) - then they went straight back home to WA from September - December (from memory I think Luke may have even stayed in Perth until January) - vic didn’t have much lockdown during the pre-season months WA players were required in Melbourne… I don’t believe Covid is the reason Jackson is going home.
  22. Weren’t most of our list interstate in hubs (like all other sides) during the majority of lockdown?
  23. West Coast can trade out of 1st round with special permission. Read somewhere today that there is a belief that AFL would tick that off fairly quickly in the event of a Jackson trade given his age/achievements.
  24. There should be a support hotline for demonlanders who named themselves after Luke Jackson.
