  1. Are used to absolutely dreading it when we were playing a low team and I would read on the MFC website: “we won’t take them lightly says Jones”. We were guaranteed to lose. I used to absolutely dread it when we were playing a low team and I would read on the MFC website: “We won’t take them lightly, says Jones”. We were guaranteed to lose. I think they are different now. Goodwin says: we expect every team to bring their best. There seems to be no assumption that low teams are easybeats. So I am very hopeful.
  2. Chandler has to get another go. But if Jackson is fit - who goes? I was all for getting BBB but he is slow and very clumsy at ground level.
  3. Where is Petty???
  4. I thought Harmes was excellent and I thought Brayshaw beat his opponent. However, there are a few very tired looking players who could do with the rest, IMO. Not dropped, just rested for a week.
  5. Harms is obviously like for like with Bonnie cash of course, not as good but approve on top 23 player. Harmes is obviously like for like with Viney - of course, not as good but a proven top 22 player. I, for one, I’m not going to argue against the coaches at the moment given their record this season.
  6. Completely agree with the last post, and generally I can’t understand how people don’t see it with this player. Two Brownlow votes in his first game and he hasn’t stopped since. Our best midfielder since Barassi, I have no doubt, but perhaps Petracca will come to equal him when he has done it consistently for as long. We are so fortunate at the moment, at Melbourne, we have four players in the top 10 in the coaches votes – not the team has more than one. And three of them form our midfield setup.
  7. They’re very good at it. They’ve been doing it for years.
  8. Just watched some of the replay. How on earth can anyone possibly say Gawn is not the best Ruckman in the league? Why did they even talk about Naitanui or Grundy?
  9. I’d have Brown for sure, and a few other changes to refresh them - and also, that will stop anyone thinking that it is an easy game, after tonight, which would be such a Melbourne thing to think.
  10. WB top of the ladder? They look ordinary to me.
  11. I did click on N52. It said there were seats available. When I clicked to except my tickets, I found the tickets allocated to me were on the other side of the ground. Is there some link that I should be using that I have missed?
  12. Can someone help me? I have reserved seats in Bay N52. I go to Ticketek, into my barcode, enter the Melbourne allocation, click on N52, which it tells me has seats available, but when I am allocated the seats, they are on the other side of the ground! Is there any special technique on the Ticketek site to get seats in the position that you indicate?
  13. Bringing BBB and Weed in together is too big a change imv. Our attack is ranked sixth in the league on points scored, and if we had kicked straighter we would be a lot higher than that. Suddenly bringing in two marking forwards would completely change the dynamic, and against the top team…? One or the other, to replace Mitch Brown, is the way to go. When Frisch is ready and Jones had his 300, the change is obvious.
  14. I agree with both of you. He should put his hand up and ask for a couple of weeks off “managed”, then play his 300th in a home game at the G against Sydney, and then retire. It was interesting in the Best 22 thread how few people had him in it - and apparently Goody agrees.
  15. That is a big out! Very hard player to replace, and in terrific form...
  16. Outstanding news! And how incredible, watching him play and remembering is much he has done already - and he’s only 23!!
  17. What a crock. How do you barrack against your own player?
  18. Totally agree. After Greene’s second goal, they showed the overhead vision. The GWS player that ran past for a handball and delivered long to Greene was being “chased” by Jones at a half-hearted jog. He does it all the time. Can anyone imagine him sprinting to intercept? - as Kossi did on that kick-in?
  19. I truly hope they don’t sit on their laurels with no change. Sparrow didn’t do much, Nev Jetta is really struggling, and I guess they’ll keep Jones until his 300 but then he should retire. I can’t stand watching him just jogging when the other team has the ball.
  20. Some people dread taking an important kick for goal – e.g. Eishold, last quarter, 1987 prelim. Others absolutely love it and turn from being pretty accurate to being certainties when the moment calls for it -Jakovich was like that. So I say: Kossie.
  21. How on earth did Harris Andrew’s beat Steven May for AA last year??!!
  22. Flower, Schwarz, Warren Dean (briefly, until his knee played up), Barassi, Oliver and I have to add a sixth: Wight.
  23. Bingers, you’ve got it half right -you are right about the 720 degrees but THEN he handed - not hand balled- the ball to Selwood: goal.
  24. I don’t understand the theory about keeping them guessing. if the opposition finds out at the last minute that a player is out and being replaced by a lesser player, how does that help us? It would surely lift their morale. And if the injured player is being replaced by a better player: wouldn’t that happen anyway, regardless of the injury.
  25. How crap is the MFC website!? Burgo gives the injury report, quite obviously wasn’t going to talk about Harmes until word got out and then they inserted a section which talks about him. Typical of the website – keep the supporters completely in the dark if they possibly can.
