  1. I see JVR as a CHF rather than FF. If Petty does leave, it is worth noting that Jeffo was marking like a champion ( but not kicking like one) at Casey today.
  2. All this depressing stuff in the papers AGAIN!!! Please, come out tonight and show the world how good we are!!
  3. He regularly nails those shots. He might even be the best in the league at them.
  4. My two favourite Viney moments - one is that tremendous goal after wrenching the ball off McInerny. But the other, which I only heard about, was from before he played AFL. He was playing under age in the VFL and, as we know, there are often some pretty seasoned older players in that comp. One of them - I think from Geelong- hit Jack, then aged 16 or 17, and broke his jaw. Was Jack intimidated? - no, he wanted to go on with it!! His father was a great player. Jack is better. I hope he has lots of kids!!
  5. His father was a great player. Jack is better. I hope he has lots of kids!!
  6. Well, Collingwood weren't that good! Brisbane, at least at the moment, are totally [censored]!
  7. I wanted Collingwood to win on the basis that Brisbane are a bigger threat - but then, watching them celebrate a goal, I can't stand it. Nup.
  8. Of course, there are heaps of them around.
  9. This post can't be right. After all, many on DLand know that our coach can't coach, our players are cooked, our culture and (therefore our collective will to win) is stuffed - sorry, BPA, you've got it all wrong.....
  10. Surely the Sydney win over Collingwood should ( but it won't) shut some of the doomsayers up - those who said, Melbourne is gone, we should be more like Collingwood etc etc.. They beat us by 22 pts on their home ground, with conditions they are used to which suited them. Collingwood lost by 33 pts on their home ground (yuk!) in conditions that suited Collingwood perfectly. Sydney is a very good team; they always are; losing to them is not the end of our season!
  11. Can't wait for Petty to be in IF his foot is right..
  12. I'm not sure of this thread is about defending against the switch, or proposing that we use it more. In terms of defence, all teams can get caught out by it if it is well done; that is why it is used. But our method is to use our fitness to switch sides in defence, in response. I think we do it pretty well, like most things in our defence system.
  13. He is obviously a complex man but he helped us when we needed it.
  14. Did Hore play in the Casey practice match? How did he do?
  15. From what we have seen, Petty learned a bit about playing as a forward when he was a defender
  16. Don't people understand? The club knew that Grundy is a good player, which is why we took him - but like most top ruckmen, he is best when he is number one. We had Gawn. So it didn't work, and never would. For those that don't remember, exactly the same thing happened to him at Collingwood.
  17. I think that the posters who say "Max should be ashamed" are disgusting. No doubt he was beaten by a very good player who we had to let go of because having two no1 rucks didn't work. But Max tried his heart out as he always does. He is a champion and will bounce back. One thing is worrying, though: he does not handle rough treatment very well. He is simply not built for it. Mason Cox has known this for years, and obviously other teams are catching on. To me, that means we HAVE to have a stronger backup. I don't know anything about Fullarton. Schache is not the answer. I think it means we have to bring back TMac, as he is certainly strong.
  18. Not to mention Patrick "Brownlow" Cripps...
  19. Bad decision! The reason that the use of runners was reduced was because they were basically cheating by filling holes etc, and that will clearly start to happen again.
  20. That is, his bite as an enforcer/thug. His bite as a forward was consistently underrated.
  21. Sorry to be late to this discussion, but I have thought for a couple of years that Laurie was overrated and wouldn't make it, but last night I thought he showed a lot of creative thinking and the skills to back it up. He completely changed my opinion.
