  1. Sure, Collingwood are looking good, but also Geelong are showing their age – at last!
  2. Gee, I’d have Bolton at Melbourne anytime. Normally I don’t care about players from other clubs but he is sensational.
  3. FWIW, I think Hibbo might be a good matchup for JUH. If Petty goes on Naughton, and one of Grawndy drops back, hopefully we’ll be ok…..
  4. Good: The pies are a lot better than 40 years ago. So are the toilets. Enjoying Melbourne wins much more frequently than for the last 40+ years. Bad: Much as we love Robbo, “entertainment” at quarter time. The half time summary that you can never hear but which tells you only the obvious anyway. Grand Final halftime entertainment.
  5. Moore over Clarry???!!!!??? They have to be joking. For a start, it helps if you are regularly available to play.
  6. I can’t/won’t get past the paywall - did anyone score 10?
  7. Incredible amount of love for Schwarz and Jakovich in this thread, amazing given that both of them had very short periods at their peak, due to injury. But I’m not disagreeing! Oliver Flower Barassi Schwarz Lyon But also Brett Lovett (cool as ice)
  8. At the G with my daughter watching us win by 5+ goals.
  9. Ahead of Clarry May Trac Maxy Lingers Fritta and Lever?
  10. I like Harmes and certainly hope he is selected and does a job on Libba.
  11. I didn’t for a moment think that the post was entirely serious, but I took it as a (deserved) compliment to the players. But I was very surprised to see Sparrow bracketed with Clarry and Trac.
  12. I keep thinking about this post. I’m amazed that they put Sparrow in there. I have thought for some time that he might develop into something like Petracca, but I would then think that I was being fanciful…
  13. 100% my thinking too. BBB helped us win a premiership, but these days he is an absolute liability as soon as the ball is on the ground.
  14. Once again, people, forget how close we came to actually overrunning Brisbane in the end. Kicking three goals in the VFL is no guide to what can happen in the AFL. McDonald was coming back from injury and his capacity to play was very uncertain. JVR is a young and developing player and throwing him to the wolves too young would be extremely harmful to him. (Think Jack Watts). The system we have used, of allowing him to grow, develop his body and develop skills in the VFL, is absolutely correct and will lay the foundation for a wonderful player in the future.
  15. I loved it but I still think there are major things to improve. BBB is not a CHF and really, I don’t think there is a place for him - lovely human being that he is- given hoe Grawndy performed in the forward line. And I think we need to do a LOT of work on our leading patterns in the forward line - there were too many times when we got a great centre clearance tgat was crying out for a good forward lead but instead went nowhere. Bowey is wonderful. His place is surely cemented now.
  16. Completely agree with this. Eg fully fit Dunstan will never replace Clarry with an injured thumb. And people forget how close we came to snatching that game back off Brisbane in the last 10 minutes.
  17. I think he’s going to be like his dad - not the most naturally talented, but completely determined to make the best of what he’s got.
  18. Me too!!!
  19. Absolutely disagree. His hardness and leadership are irreplaceable.
  20. The Cripps decision was insane. The trouble is, in future years, he will be recorded as the winner of the Brownlow medal, people will forget about the fact that he should have been disqualified, and it’s a medal he should never have won. I don’t recall the Brent Moloney issue - is there any link to film of it?
  21. As I posted above, Clayton Oliver really reminds me of him. I don’t think Dangerfield was anything like him, to be honest. For a start, I don’t recall Barassi ever being a whinger, like Dangerfield is – Dangerfield complains about every free kick awarded against him, no matter how obvious. But it’s more than that. Oliver, like Barassi, is everywhere, and always having an influence. Absolutely relentless is the only way I can describe it. They see the ball and it is theirs, no point arguing about it.
  22. What a wonderful player! I wonder if others on this site agree with me when I say that Clarry reminds me of him in his relentlessness and his competitiveness -and even the way he runs. Anyway, happy birthday Ron.
  23. Someone whingeing about the board and the need for “fair open and transparent elections”.
  24. I don’t believe. $1.00. He has never translated Casey form to AFL grade. I would love to be proved wrong.
  25. Surely Bowey is the most like-for-like?
