  1. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit, of all the years for my daughter to want to go to the footy every week. I'm expecting us to get completely torched so anything outside of that will be a relief. If I was Goodwin I'd be ringing Longmuir and asking him to go easy.
  2. When a large percentage or almost all your players regress year on year, particularly the young ones I'd look at the coach/s first. We had the best contest and defence game in the comp, it won us a flag in 21 and bar some unfortunate injuries probably would of won us another in 23, add in a top 4 finish in 22 and that's 3 damn good years playing a brand that stacks up beautifully in finals. Then along comes the fast transition game, we recruit some outside running types, bomb out in 24 and then change the game style in 25. In my humble opinion we didn't need to change our plan, it needed some tweaking. We needed to start lowering our eyes forward of centre and get our forwards to start leading at the ball carrier. Use the stars to their best ability, get them extracting and feeding the ball out to the young en's to use their skills to hit up leading targets inside 50. Is it really that complicated? In this case the ball carrier would hopefully be Windsor, Bowey, Lindsay, Langford, basically the best kickers in the team. We look all at sea out there atm, it's not helping that an ageing May looks done and Lever can't get on the park. On top of that Gawn is fast losing his dominance. Throw in the fact that Oliver, Petracca and Viney are woeful disposers of the ball and we have what we have. Personally I blame the coach/s. It's there job to know the players and get the best out of them. For mine Goodwin's cards are marked, it's time for some fresh eyes and a few ego's to be taken down a peg or 2.
  3. To clarify, I don't have inside knowledge. I'm just predicting the club with Smith at the helm and a capable CEO we will be able to attract the coach and assistants we need. I'd say it's Goodwin's last year.
  4. Awesome, donโ€™t forget
  5. Iโ€™m not implying I know anything. I do know though that thereโ€™s more than a few worthy assistants we can chase to become coach. We have the makings of a strong list that will help attract good people. I also have faith in Green, Smith and co. to make good decisions. But go ahead and bookmark it if proving people wrong floats your boat.
  6. Thereโ€™s more than fire
  7. Iโ€™m confident thereโ€™s an assistant coach out there who would love our list.
  8. Kolt looks a little like a deer in the headlights. He just needs to calm that energy as heโ€™s a pretty good disposer of the ball.
  9. I reckon weโ€™ll go pretty hard at the right people.
  10. My guess is they were happy May was over his PF. The groin injury likely took them by surprise.
  11. I think youโ€™ll be surprised who will come to us this off season
  12. Poor you
  13. WCโ€ฆitโ€™s called effort
  14. Why not try Adamโ€™s, Howes will get smashed, this could get ugly quickly
  15. In I think weโ€™ll get beat by 65 points and I feel thatโ€™s being kind.
  16. No they were all inside 50 but the kids nor the parents could find them. Turned out they were all out of bounds in the forward pocket.
  17. Things I'll be putting on the whiteboard pregame Effort 2 way running from the HF's, HB's and mids, we simply have to get back to help the defence otherwise we're toast. Tackling and Pressure not to fall below 180 and regularly pushing 200, I want gang tackles, I want the occasional free against because we went too hard. Forwards leading Oliver, Petracca, Rivers and Viney looking for a forward or inside handball. Oliver and Viney banned from kicking. Petty to make Treacy earn every touch, like really earn it. RUN, RUN, RUN. Give me that and I'll cop a loss but it'll be close.
  18. Itโ€™s not like he works so hard heโ€™d be tired ๐Ÿค“
  19. The Pies arenโ€™t that fast they just move the ball quickly. Constant movement forward then if they cough it up they get back and force the opponent down the line. They work incredibly hard.
  20. After watching Collingwood dismantle Brisbane, nothing about football excites me.
  21. Get it forward, our run and out compete the opposition.
  22. It's not just Goodwin, we need change across the entire club I think.
  23. I'm offering the fitness guru at Collingwood a contract, at least one assistant from each of Geelong, Collingwood, Sydney and Brisbane a contract and one of them can replace Goodwin. It's not about the players right now it's become a coaching issue, settle that first. Watching Collingwood last night made me realise how far off it we are currently.
  24. One of the reasons he's become such a good player who's long been underrated is he knows his role in the team. I'd bet my last dollar if JVR played for Collingwood he'd be a 60 plus goal kicker right now. That's the issue with our club atm, we're starting to destroy careers. Bar Chandler and Bowey everyone else has gone backwards. Even Windsor barely gets a touch atm. Rivers has fallen off a cliff, Turner barely gets to the seniors, Petty is a shadow of the past player, Fritsch won't go near it, the list goes on. These are the guys who should be leading our club right now, instead we're hoping Gawn, who can no longer jump, will last forever, that May will suddenly recapture form we haven't seen since 23 and Lever is injured as usual. We need to turn this around fast. We are miles off the good sides and even further behind if you look at the club as a whole. Yes I'm despondent. I love watching footy and I expected we'd maintain a standard as Geelong and others have done. The template is there. We didn't evolve, we didn't keep adding better and better people, we tried to stick with the 21 model which was dead at the end of the 23 season. Time for some change is probably now but I hope we're looking at assistants and managers from Geelong, Sydney, Collingwood and GWS.
