  1. I would guess he’s been very professional for the last 6-7 months, but being professional and being the best are different things. If his current player rating is 140 odd as suggested, there’s still 600 AFL players who wish they could be at his current level. We’ve been treated to a version that was absolutely phenomenal, so we judge him differently
  2. There’s something in the character of the players they have at the club as well, that’s the real key. Geelong have 3-4 assistant coaches on field at any given time, they can adjust in real time without even being told. We have a leadership void behind Max
  3. As @gator said, it’s all the other stuff. Weighing food, eating healthy full time, no booze, extra recovery sessions, yoga etc. I’m torn with Clarry - at his best he was clearly dedicated to an extreme/unhealthy level. Seems like this may have been at the expense of his mental health. So the current version could well be a much better person but a slightly lesser athlete. In elite sport, small percentages make enormous differences. The photos floating round the past week suggest he’s probably 3-5 kilos over his best playing weight and that hurts you. For what it’s worth, it feels like this is club wide and the small, extra things seem to have dropped right off.
  4. Would be nice to be on the right end of some corruption, Andy D will give us that
  5. This would be an interesting development if true, he doesn’t seem anything like a leader from the outside.
  6. Can we get Goody to play Andy’s address to the playing group, that was a thing of beauty
  7. @Superunknown Like how JUH isn’t playing and Hunter was banished prior to coming to us? Or McRae being stuck in the twos despite being on massive coin? Bevo is the Yin to Goody’s Yang
  8. At least Bevo is not a robot, that’s a good start.
  9. I’ve played under a number of different coaches in my own local football ‘career’. One year we had a coach that came in off the back of a finals campaign the year before. We finished second or third last under the new coach with the same list and the entire place was deflated like I’ve never seen before - until now. That particular coach sucked the life out of the group in the space of 7-8 months and that club has not recovered since, some 20 years later. Do you guys believe the players are still playing like they trust Goodwin and want him around?
  10. I don’t particularly like him/them either but there’s no doubt he has some connections and probably aware of some stuff that most of the supporters are not. The amount of secret squirrel stuff around the club since the flag has been extraordinary. I hope someone does shed light on what’s actually been going on. We have 15-16 premiership players and there is not a single one of them who has improved since then.
  11. In his last vid he said if we go 0-6 he’s going nuclear, I’m ready to see it.
  12. It’s going to take a really good couple of years before players start considering us for trades.
  13. Much better use of your evening, Spencer Dutton is the kind of guy we could use right now

The problem is, it’s only Tom who’s expected to do that.
  15. Gee, he looks very good there
  16. It won a flag 4 years ago, we celebrate it and we have to evolve. If you don’t believe Viney and Clarry are a large part of the current problem, I’d like to hear what is?
  17. No chance this is true, would have been a throw away line to back up some other agenda
  18. He also played the exact way Viney/Clarry do, that’s not what we want coached
  19. Undoubtedly, the next evolution will be a defence based game but this current style of game was created to open up our gamelan - very effectively, I might add. It’s all cyclical. No matter what we try and do, we need better skills across the park to be able to execute the very thing that wins games, kicking the ball through the big sticks more than the opposition.
  20. May and Lever get a real leg up from their static kicks, all those 20m chip kicks exaggerate their numbers

A tall flanker that plays like a forward would be spectacular, where do we sign?
  22. BW511 replied to Dingo's topic in Melbourne Demons
He has to be given a chance, purely because he’s got some confidence up. Neither of JVR & Fritta are attacking the ball in a way that suggests they think they will mark it. Goody’s stubbornness at selection could well be the thing that undoes him.
  23. So as everyone is suggesting/seeing, the tail is wagging the dog. Appreciate you responding
  24. An interesting little tidbit from Goody’s post match presser, he mentioned we went to Geelong and tried to take away ‘some of their game’. The pile on around the uncontested marks will come all week, deservedly so. Of all teams, Geelong is not the one you hand the ball to at will. Has a coaching group ever got something so wrong, tactically?
  25. Top 5 ball winners today for GWS, wouldn’t be many wasted possessions between them - what a glorious luxury.
