  1. It certainly was, just seems crazy that after the ‘22-‘24 seasons he was still keen on adding more of the same.
  2. I’d love to know how Worpel was going to help us? More of the same, it’s bizarre
  3. This is quite interesting as Lever gets picked when underdone more than anyone I’ve ever seen. In assuming he was really hurt by being dropped but it absolutely had to happen
  4. Perfect replacement for May I don’t know what the Saints are trying to do with all these insane offers but surely the fallout with the current crop will be immense
  5. Two blokes who’s game is based on relentless effort, would be good to get some more of that drive into the side.
  6. I have a mate that’s a Carlton tragic and apparently when Goody was sacked, there was a decent number people wanting Goody as his replacement.
  7. The aging and predictable midfield combination is our biggest handbrake. I think we are still 2-3 mids short and don’t agree that Rivers or McVee are the answer. Koz and Windsor go some way to helping it but Windsor needs lots of kicking work over summer. We desperately need another highly skilled, running mid. Once we can make the opposition defend more, things will open up and the forwards will find space.
  8. Chappy’s presser was a breath of fresh air, nice to hear a different voice and he was genuinely happy to be in the game. A lot to like on a day where we were far from good for many parts
  9. First game I’ve been to in years, it was a valiant effort but the dogs were more polished and I’d say significantly harder at the footy. Both teams made it their mission to kick the opposition as much as possible, so many horrific turnovers. In the end, the dogs better players were just more polished and that was the difference. If we could excise some mental demons, we’d be thereabouts with the other teams between 5-9.
  10. Would have been 3-5 contests in front of the MCC where Sauce beat him. Purely effort related
  11. For me, there has to be a lot of weight on the fact Bucks actively wants the gig. Simpson and Longmire were always lukewarm at best.
  12. I listened to this a while back by chance, it made me really appreciate the journey Bucks has been on post Collingwood - would highly recommend. Out of Simpson, Longmire and Bucks I’ve become reasonably excited at the thought of Bucks coming on board. Initially, I was all in on horse but have swung around
  13. Whilst I agree that the Casey situation is not the best, average wage for these blokes is well into the 100’s of thousands and plenty on or over $900k. There’s an entire nation of footballers that go to work all day, often driving far further than Casey, then turning up to training without fail. I’d bet a chunk of the inner suburbs guys spend longer getting to Gosh’s than it takes to go against traffic to Casey
  14. He’s way too slow (in AFL terms)
  15. I’m saying the same thing, just noting it would be quite hypocritical if he left when change was finally coming
  16. Agree with this assessment, if Goody got us to 4 GF’s in a decade, we wouldn’t be here today. As supporters, I am sure we would have much preferred being runner up in ‘22 & ‘23 vs our straight sets exit. Sydney failed in GF’s multiple times but have a lot more finals wins to get there than we do
  17. I’m really interested to see what Trac does here, he desperately wanted change, it’s now come but possibly not in the cosy way he imagined. He’s now in a real bind, if he walks he’s basically blown up the club for nothing and if he stays, he’s likely playing out his career in the lower half of the ladder.
  18. You can see why Longmire is so appealing, he is a strong personality and has worked in/created one of the best run operations in the game. You’d have to go back a long time to find Sydney sides that weren’t competitive at the very least.
  19. If Nasiah walks, he’s likely a walk up start next year. That may not happen elsewhere
  20. Pretty sure Longmire is still firmly entrenched at Sydney, doubt he moves to Melbourne to start from scratch. I’d like someone fresh, give every player a clean slate and get some energy back into the place. I’m looking at the assistants mentioned over Simmo, Horse, Buckley etc
  21. I wonder if it is coach based? There’s got to be a lot of uncertainty behind the scenes at the minute, not exactly the time to be announcing signings
  22. This would be astonishing if a favourite son was pushed out in favour of a third generation Carlton family member. I’d take him for sure, think he’d be great for two years with an option to be involved at club level after. He’s as blue collar as they come
  23. I’ve been a dees supporter for multiple decades, care of the matriarch of our family. She bleeds red and blue. In my lifetime, I’ve got memories of the period of time around the 2000’s and this recent patch leading to the 2021 flag. Said matriarch was around for the successful period in the 50’s and 60’s as a young girl and then spent a lot of time and effort supporting the Dees through decades of barely existing, at best. I worked out pretty early on that really caring about this club was a road that lead nowhere. The first thing I would like the club to do is kill off the ‘holier than thou’ & entitled stereotype. The snow jokes, the cheese boards, wine and the wealth have become our actual identity. We are exactly what we are portrayed as and for a hell of a lot of the football population, it’s something they either can’t or don’t want to relate to - But you bet your bottom dollar that they all take great pride in ‘putting us back in our place’. @Clintosaurus has been like a dog with a bone regarding the media narrative and even though it’s tiresome, it’s still a reflection on how everyone else perceives Melbourne. Max goes on the radio and talks about all the exclusive memberships he has and saying he’s become a proper Melbourne [censored]. He’s trying to be jovial and joke but it’s reflective of the club culture and it’s very real. You can’t begrudge him for enjoying his life and all that comes with it but he is exactly what he’s joking about. In my opinion, the majority of the MFC from board all the way through to supporters genuinely believe they are better than everyone else and it’s possibly the biggest lie in sporting history. This period is particularly frustrating and I think what differs now is most supporters, no matter how long for, are genuinely terrified of another 30 year period of being good just twice, or a 65 year period of being there but not really being a threat. I’m just as much a part of this as the next person - I don’t watch any games other than Melbourne, I don’t care if my kids support Melbourne and nor am I a member of the club. I’d be lucky to have been to 5 games in 10 years and am as fairweather as they come. Yet here I am on a supporter forum hoping and praying for change, proper focused change. What @Dee in a Kilt is trying to do here is more genuine than anything I have seen the club do in a long time, whether it gets there or not. It’s someone grabbing the bull by the horns and trying to bring change. I tip my hat to you and hope people realise that there is a an opportunity to be a part of the solution and create the change you hope for.
  24. I’m not sure on how this all works from a legal and trade perspective, I may be way off the mark. The first thing I thought of when the Pickett deal was announced was that Melbourne have done him a solid by guaranteeing his money if and when he moves. I’ve got little doubt he won’t fulfill his entire contract, so if someone wants him, they have to pay him that money regardless. I realise it’s simplistic but it’s also set Pickett up for life whether a dee or not.
