  1. This may have been answered already but last year I believe they were talking 35km’s a week as the norm and then upped it from there. They may go up between 5-10% but that’s probably higher end
  2. I’d happily argue Wanganeen, Steele and Marshall were all better than Brayshaw. Wanganeen is exactly the type of player we have been screaming out for for 5 years
  3. I appreciate your patriotism, @binman, just think the wider footballing community doesn’t place as much emphasis on flags as you might. Collingwood, as a business, do not need to do any more than they are right now. Every function sells out instantly, their merch flies off the shelf, fans fill stadiums and in turn the clubs coffers. Furthermore, despite the fact we may be about to come good and are still very much in the hunt, a casual football fan is not going to tune into Melbourne and St Kilda tonight. I can guarantee you there were plenty of casual eyes on Collingwood and the Bulldogs last night.
  4. If you are talking from a fans perspective, he’s achieved so much. Their membership and crowd numbers would be through the roof. They are in every game until the final siren. When on song they play brilliant, spectator friendly football. Their game is based around a 19 year old kid, so they have plenty to be excited about for the future too. In 7 years time, Nick Daicos will be 26. I think they’ll be just fine
  5. I just want to watch an enjoyable game, there’s a reason Pies fans are turning up by the boatload to watch their club. It doesn’t have to be all out attack but wouldn’t mind seeing us give a handball receive every now and then
  6. If Holmes jumped off the Cats now, I would be all over him. Can play inside or out, elite runner and the perfect alternative to the bang and crash of Clarry/Trac/Viney. I see Georgiades as a marginally more physical version of Fritta, with a little less natural goal kicking ability. I don't see how he fits or makes us better. I actually watched the VFL game on TV before ours on the weekend. Ginnivan is a no for me, he's a little one dimensional (offense only)
  7. The talk of putting Trac forward more permanently is a bit desperate imo. The only way it works is if the ball gets kicked on his head in a genuine one on one. Which is very, very difficult in modern footy and even more so with our game plan. He’s not beating anyone in the air so it’s either outmuscle, create a spill and win on the deck or a flukey one in a stoppage with an actual defender rather than someone who’s also trying to win the footy
  8. These stats are really interesting from the point of view of our team structure/gameplan. We’ve built a structure to be a contested ball team, forward of the ball. Yet we are one of the worst in the comp at our preferred style
  9. So you think every single player in the side is ignoring the coach and blazing away? That’s harder to imagine
  10. It feels like the questions should be put to Simon Goodwin, rather than going after the players (ANB’s howler aside) If it’s being instructed, take the heat off the players and own up to it, it’s certainly no big secret to anyone what we do
  11. Either our players have the lowest collective football IQ in the game or they are being instructed to play this way. I firmly believe it’s the latter. We don’t have many good kicks in the side and the game plan is tailored to suit that but someone training every single day of the week should be able to hit a lead from 25-30 metres in their sleep
  12. Agree. I’ve never seen a player kick so many grubbers in my life. GWS have a great example of an inside bull that can kick, in Tom Green. He’s a gun.
  13. This is something I’ve often pondered over the last few years. We love having numbers behind the ball because it makes it harder to score. Yet we invite numbers into our forward line through slow ball movement, making it harder to score. I understand that we are playing the percentages and it’s minimising risk but it must suck the life out of the players. I think it’s especially evident with someone like Kade Chandler, comes into the side and plays with all the freedom in the world and kicks goals, then slowly the focus shifts to defensive effort and the goals dry up. Ultimately, the goal is to win flags but if we are unwatchable all year to make it happen, I just think it kills the mood
  14. All sounds like symptoms of fatigue to me None of the things listed happen on their own, they require physical or mental exertion. That ability drops off with fatigue My opinion, our game plan requires forward line players to do far too much to maintain structure and pressure, which means they are cooked by the time we get a forward entry (Kozzie/Spargs/ANB/Chin etc)
  15. For a bloke that put his mate into next week, Rohan definitely played a good game.
  16. I’d like to know what everyone thinks is the best way forward for Kossie? Since his suspension, he’s been a shadow of himself. Is it ‘playing safe’ to avoid MRP scrutiny or is he just horribly out of form? He still seems to be hitting bodies very late when/after they kick which seems frustration induced.
  17. Agree, Max is in a lot more danger of being dropped.
  18. I know ANB gives a lot to our game plan with his running but he’s the ultimate ‘almost’ man. Almost has a decent game, almost kicks a goal, almost picks the ball up, almost gets rid of the ball in a tackle, almost takes a mark.
  19. There should be a lot of nervous blokes heading into the review. At least 6 who are horribly scared of body contact I’d love to see one game this year where we hit up targets instead of bombing it on heads. Fritta and Kossie are not taking marks against this backline in the dry, no chance in the wet
  20. Horrible place to come back from injury, cold and wet Geelong at night I’d give Clarry another week as a precaution
  21. 100% agree. Being a number 1 draft pick outside of Victoria would be relatively stress free, even if they do eat each other alive in the WA media. The eagles mids might even rediscover some form when an 18yo kids comes in and runs rings around them from day one
  22. I couldn’t care less as these things happen during winter but I was told earlier in the week, not when they lost.
  23. I’ve got a mate that works for CFC, it was a thing
  24. I was worried about him losing some leg speed through last year, very happy to be wrong. He is looking very sharp and confident in his body!
  25. Point of shoulder to the chin, he’s gone
