Now that we’ve won the premiership in the men’s
BDA replied to Cassiew's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Our form last season was excellent. We were stitched up with the fixture playing more of the top teams than any other team while Adelaide played easy beats and racked up percentage which got them home advantage in finals We have 2 absolute champions in Daisy and Paxman. Zanker, Hanks, Bannon and McNarama will be a year older. Lauren Pearce, Goldrick and Hore are excellent players. We've added boom recruit Tayla Harris to kick the goals and Olivia Purcell, a Geelong B&F winner and high draft. We have the list to do it and will be favorites. I'm really looking forward to the AFLW season. Can;t wait for it to start -
Looking forward to pumping Carlton next year Close thread

I agree with everything that has already been said but in terms of role players Nibbler for mine was most improved I was not a massive fan of Maxy as captain. Wasn't sure if he had the presence and authority but he took his leadership to another level this year. Led by example and in his own style. He was immense throughout the season

Cam Mooney was pilloried after last year saying we were ready to win the premiership. He was only out by 1 year in his prediction. Kudos to him The old hawthorn brigade of Dunstall and Dermie were the worst offenders in my opinion. They didn't try to hid their contempt for us. Ross Lyon has gone down a lot in my estimation as well as he too has an obvious gripe with us for some reason

Tough as nails, never took a backward step. Great hands. I’d love to see him retained in some capacity perhaps in a role working with / developing the Indigenous boys

Why is this news. I would have thought any team that wins the premiership will have a tight cap

With Nev and Lockhart departing we need a small defender

Kate Roffey, the unsung hero of our success
BDA replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Glen Bartlett did plenty of good work for the club but it was time for a change. Kate has been impressive whenever I’ve heard her speak and she certainly has the CV for the job But I’m going to reserve judgment on her performance until our new home base is secured. That is ultimately why she is on the board and will ultimately be the KPI she is measured on. Now that the premiership is in the bag let’s get that home base sorted Kate. Over to you- 53 replies

Let's hope she never gets near a commentator microphone -
does anyone really care?

Not trying to put a damper on things but there's been a lot of talk of dynasties which i think is premature and presumptuous. Not saying we can’t win more than one, far from it, but there are plenty of reasons why we might not We won’t have the same luck with injuries Other teams will be stronger. The doggies aren’t far off, Richmond have one more crack left in the tank, even GWS if they can get their players on the park will be a threat We will be the hunted next year And most importantly, will these players be prepared to put in the hard yards again of will they be satisfied with just the one pennant. Will the hunger and desire still be there when they return for preseason? There is one big motivator that can really spur this group on next year and that is winning one in front of the faithful. It’s been great for our Perth brethren, I couldn’t be happier for them, but I’ve felt a little removed, distant from this win. I would love to experience a grand final win and belt out A Grand Old Flag at the ‘G

Hunted and harried the Dogs defenders all night. Never gave them a second's peace. He didn't have much joy with ball in hand but his defensive work was A-Grade. He's going to be better than Cyril Rioli

Fitness and conditioning is such an important factor in team success. I have no doubt that the health of our list and supreme fitness levels were near the top of the list of reasons why we won the flag this year Contrast this year with the debacle that was 2019 and it’s easy to see why we shelled out top dollar to secure Burgo. He was worth every cent. I wish him the best in his future endeavors and thank him for the phenomenal job he did with us

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
BDA replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure whether anyone else picked up on it but Gary Lyon made a very interesting comment in response to a question from a caller this morning. Luke Jackson's parents told Gary that Luke is very happy in Melbourne and has no intention of going back to Perth. In fact his parents said they would like to move to Melbourne! If true (and I’ve no reason to think Gary would fib about something like that) I think its fantastic news. I’m so hoping his parents make the move. -
What a way to bury the curse. Shock and awe is the only way to describe the most devastating burst of goals ever seen in a grand final. This team have been magnificent. So dominant through finals. Could not be more proud It’s been an unreal season. For me, the lockdowns were manageable because the team were doing so well and provided an outlet from the tedium and monotony. Not sure how I’ll go now that season 2021 is done but the replays and afterglow should get me through to the end of lockdown. Looking forward to Rd 1 2022. It’ll be some day at the G as Flag No 13 is unfurled

No idea. First i heard of it was reading through their thread

Lachie Hunter is worse. Always trying to milk free kicks

I think their comments are pretty balanced overall other than a few posters getting very riled up because we played the same post game song they did after the Port game. They reckon it was disrespectful or something. They need to chill

Dogga's tapwork in the third. Got us going forward. Sensational

Get a hearse for the curse. Demons 2021 premiers. I love you all

Lachie Hunter is a stager. Milked at least 2 frees tonight.
