Yeah I came to same conclusion
  2. Delighted with this. Well done Mahoney!!

Cats could be an option I guess. Really want to get a top 10 pick though. If they could swap 17&24 into a good pick in the top ten then it would be more appealing
  4. Think this will go late and also think/hope it will involve splitting the pick. Freo will want to get the Hill trade done so they have better idea of where their at. Langdon + pick 6&7 for pick 3,22, future 2nd and third. Just hoping have no info Means they will have pick 3 will be able to pick up Henry too and their academy players next year.

Been thinking about this after listening to their list manager on trade radio this morning. He seemed to be saying they are sniffing around the Daniher trade. I assume for pick 5. Isnt Green an inside mid?! Giants will know we are stacked in that department. Not sure what Adelaide’s priorities are but maybe not an inside mid. If giants can get a hold of pick 5 and put it out there that they won’t give it up for Green then maybe we don’t have any real bargaining power with them for pick 3.
  6. If we pick him at pick 3 then we will have brought in 3 wingers and no small forwards(assuming we get Langdon). Think if we going to get him we need to split the pick.
  7. Jeez Stephens does look good in that clip. Can’t see him getting past pick 6/7 if freo have them as they will be looking for wingers if both Hill and Langdon leave

I like this. Thought it was overs but tried it in the draft calculator and pick 3+22+ future 3 is same points as 6+7. Would stil be able to trade future 2nd round for Langdon and we still have our first round pick next year. Freo get pick 3 and and 22 plus picks for their academy players next year
  9. Ah right I’m with you now. You think this would give us more of a reason to split pick? As if we add him to other top prospects we could surely pick up a good prospect anywhere in top 10?! Thoughts?
  10. Yes I know it’s also overs for any small forward and same for their father son( going only on what all draft prospects articles are saying)My point was more that with pick 11 and father son they are in a great position to get the 2 type of players we are after and if we do split pick they will prob have a crack at a small forward before us.
  11. Hawks are in great position to get exactly what we want from draft, ive read somewhere where list manager said they are keen on a quality small forward and with father and son pick looks like they will get a classy midfielder. Even if we do a split with GWS hawks will still have pick before us.

I heard on trade radio yesterday that next years draft is meant to be poor, anybody else hear this from other sources? If it’s true hope we really go hard to split pick and get a couple of good players from this draft.

Yeah agree with this, also I’m a bit sceptical of players who manage to find their best form just before contract negoation. I won’t be dissappointed either way.
  14. Ok well I’m now very confused about our coaching situation. Mahoney said this morning that we’re not seeking more assistant coaches. We have let 3 coaches go and only brought in Richo and he says his role is mainly to mentor the other coaches!!! I’ve probably miss heard or miss read something but seems very odd. What am I missing?

No not quiet top 10 but have to be realistic. General option seems to be that after first 2 in draft there isn’t a lot between the next lot of prospects so why would any team other than GWS want to swap 2 top 10 picks for 1? Makes sense for GWS as they in effect get 2. So if we swapped with GWS for 11,15 and their compo pick and then used the later two to get into top 10 it would hopefully allow is pick up 2 players like Stephens and Weightman.

A deal with gws and GC to get 9&11??
  17. Yep agree with this even if we could squeeze into top 10 with one of them. The amount of different names being thrown around here for pick 3 would have you thinking we should be able to pick one of them up in top 10 and still be able to go and get a high quality small forward

I was never a big fan of frosty, always seemed to cost us 2/3 goals a game. But he impressed me with his attitude and performances in the second half of the season and can prob hold his head up higher than most. Prob not good to lose a player who seems to be on the up and the fear is that clarko will turn him into a better player. Having said that we need a new look in 2020 to sell hope and confidence to players and fans, coaching changes, game style changes and list changes. If frosty was the only player in top 22 we really lose I’d be delighted. Also given the fact hawks need picks for Patton and their father and son pick might give us options. If we split picks with gws then we could bundle up the lower first round pick and frosty for hawks pick 10?!

What’s he worth in terms of a pick coming our way ?
  20. We give them pick 2 and a player( hibbert maybe) for king and pick 10. They get pick 1&2 and mature player we get king and still get into draft early enought to try and pick up player we need.
  21. I guess it’s a glass half empty or full thing. But I can’t get hope from all the games we had a chance to win but lost this year. Good teams with a winning mentality find a way to win. We seem to find a way to lose. I remember hearing interviews with Tmac and Melksham in the days that followed finals win over hawks- both started their interviews along same lines ‘after hawks started well and scored first goal we felt oh no this isn’t going to be our day’. That’s a terrible mindset to have have and we clearly brought that mindset into the west coast final. My hope is that we bring in enough quality assistant coaches that help install a new mental togetherness and toughness, help reinvent our game style and skills. A good draft, good draw and big Max as captain would go along way too

Can see positives in both sticking with our pick and splitting. Depends what we can get I guess. GWS option seem to be the best but do they need to trade with us? Anybody know how good Tom Green is and how keen other clubs would be on him? If he’s likely to go at 5/6 then giants might be more likely to do deal with crows, saints or swans.Having said that with Coniglio staying if they get pick 3 and pick up Green as well it’s a good window for them. Anybody know how Ian Hill went for them this year?
  23. Think petracca improved this year so I wouldn’t be getting rid of him this year. Hibbert one is interesting-we have good cover down back and he would be valuable to GC. Him and future draft pick for King would be sweet. But we have more important areas to sort out before we bring in another tall forward.

I think Max is the obvious choice as captain and think he would take the role in his stride without harming his game. I also think we should give serious thought to making lever and May vise captains. Although I’d be happy if we made a call early in pre season that we were going to have a sole captain instead of 2 and let the players vote on who they want.
