POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Sydney
A lot to like about the game. Few points that pleased me most and I think point to the improvements we have made in the off season. 1.- We have recruited well, Grundy had a great game and I thought Hunter had he’s best game for us too and will only get better. 2.- Casey players standing up. Mcvee, JVR and Chandler all had great games and must play again next week. 3.- We have our fitness levels back. Even at the start of last season when we won our first 10 games we didn’t seem to run out the last quarter well, we certainly did tonight. 4.- Goody and the coaching staff have stepped up made the changes we needed to make. Our ball use going i50 has become so much better this year as seen by the amount we scored tonight and the amount of goal scores we had. Another change from last season from the coaching panel is our flexibility, throwing Petty forward, we are nowhere near as predictable with our kick ins and Our goal kicking looks to have improved as well. Thanks Chocco

Trent Rivers Re-Signs until 2027
If we are struggling to fit Kossie wage into our cap then we may have to turnover a few players at the end of the season. We already have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds of a super draft. Bringing in young high end talent and letting some other fringe players go might make sense this year.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
“No action Jackson” 😂 ok it got a laugh out of me. Honeymoon period didn’t even make it to week three. I have no ill will towards Luke but I’m happy for this season to be a disaster for him and the Freo club. If he continues to struggle then those around him that have been advising him would want to take a long hard look at themselves. Kossie take note- leaving the Melbourne to go play in a two team town is a bad move.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
Delighted Freo got beat but having poor umpire decisions decide games is [censored] poor. I’ve come to the opinion that the AFL are happy with a poor standard of umpiring and a joke of MRO as it creates headlines and interest during the week. Wouldn’t be too hard to improve the standard of umpiring by making them full time and well paid or make the rules easier to adjudicate.

MCL Injury to Max Gawn
Put in our worst performance in a long time last night. Skipper is out with a knee injury and I’m still much happier than I was after last weeks win. I really feared the worst. Delighted with this outcome. Much easier for the team to re group now and get some good results while Max is out. All we need now is Kossie to sign in the dotted line. Go Dees

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Brisbane
Last paragraph is where my head is at. Not thinking about what our flag chances are without Max. More that if he has done his ACL we will probably never see Max at the peak of his powers again. Which would be such a massive loss. I can’t speak about previous AFL players who have done their ACL in their thirties but I know from Prem league soccer very few if any of them were ever the same player again. Keane, Vidic, VVD we’re never able to regain their athletic ability to the same standard again. Hats off to all of your who are remaining positive and I am sorry to be a Debbie downer, I’ll try to be more positive with future post.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I know this draft has been mentioned as a super draft for a while now. For those that watch closely is that because of the top end talent or because the talent pool runs deep? Given our strong draft hand will be interesting to see how we play it.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Lots to like about last nights game. We seem to be moving the ball quicker whenever we can and our forward line looks heaps better than it did for most of last season. We seem to have a more dynamic and flexible set up. I like other was worried about our defence with Tommo and Judd coming in. What was a concern for me pre game is now a post game highlight, Tommo played a few solid game as did Judd who looks like he could easily be a regular players this year. Was also pleased to see Chandler have a good game. Lever was great down back and in general our defence was very good. With May to come back we will be very hard to score against. As good as our forward and backline were I think the big point of difference for us this year is going to be our midfield. If possible it looks like Trac and Oliver will be even better this year. Gawn and Grundy will cause teams all sorts of problems and will get numbers of mids not rucks. Kossie looks dangerous when he’s in the guts , Viney wasn’t playing last night, Hunter and Langdon on the wings with role players like Sparrow and Harmes and we are stacked.

NON-MFC: Rd 01 2023
I fancied Carlton tonight and thought they would do well this season. Not so sure after that performance. Not so much the performance more so how they closed out the last 8/9 mins. After losing so many close games last year in the closing minutes I thought Voss would have had them super well drilled and organised how to see out a game like that. Looks like they haven’t learnt their lessons from last season.
