Not necessarily. The AFL said Richmond fell only a couple of point short of higher compensation, and included in the formula would be the success of the team and given Richmond have won 2 of the last 3 flags, that would be significant. The Giants compo points could be miles apart but within the same 'band' so might not be that close.
-
Reckon the compo GWS are getting should put to bed the "paying massive overs" brigade.

4 years.

Would you really be surprised if Brayshaw had an injury and it was not handled well by MFC this year? Don't reckon you can slam umpires in other posts and then put so much value on an award they judge in another. So, he's a frontrunner then? "Polled third in the Brownlow" when we were playing well, but disappears when things are tough?
-
First question, why do we need a "moneyball" version of a player we've already landed? Second question, wasn't he really injury prone? Would be 29 when next season starts too, so not convinced a 29 year old, injury prone, 93kg wingman is a great option for us, but admittedly I haven't followed his SANFL career.

An update from Melbourne Melbourne's general manager of footy operations Josh Mahoney has confirmed that Collingwood's Jamie Elliott won't be coming to Melbourne. He also confirmed Adam Tomlinson (GWS) and Ed Langdon (Fremantle) have nominated the Demons as their club of choice, and that Angus Brayshaw is not wanted by the Dockers. LIVE: AFL trade period day one
-
That's what Mahoney has said publicly, sure, but I've heard different so I'm not locking that in. Wait and see hey.
-
Backline to replace Frost. Very much into Murray as you've mentioned too.
-
Fair enough, thanks for passing it on anyways.
-
Did you hear a name or just those particular details?
-
I was given pretty reliable word early on he would stay with the Pies, but obviously I'm doubting that now after seeing him tour Brisbane. People change their minds, or take a while to decide, just human nature.
-
Gut feel is he would stay at Collingwood for less (per year), and word gets around in AFL circles so Pies wouldn't be in the dark about his other offers as they come in. Would think they would up their offer as part of the negotiation, knowing that as long as it's not massively less he will want to stay. Then at the very end they can match the final offer if they wish.

Pretty much all of those were "modern time", unless you're version of "modern time" doesn't goes as far back as the last trade period. Aside from Buddy (borderline "modern time" given your trying to shut down my examples from the last few years) and maybe Lockett (definitely not "modern time"), what are all these examples of "big name key forwards" that have been traded to Sydney?
-
Not familiar with Lynch, McGovern, Patton, Hogan, Kennedy, Boyd, Dixon or Waite?
-
20 weeks? Find that a bit hard to believe, unless he's had a car accident or something. They're not even training yet.
-
Seem to remember there being talk Christensen could be gone from Brisbane this year.
-
Was just an example, wasn't meant as accurate figures.
-
Yeah that's a great point. My example was more just about when it's such a huge difference in money though. Agree with your point also though.
-
I agree. Not stating it as fact, just what I've heard. It's the harsh reality of a basket case club who finished 17th trying to attract a good player from a big club.
-
I always find it interesting as far as the difference in what a player will accept at different clubs. ie - Let's say Elliot stays at the Pies for 500K when we've offered 750k. Says a lot about how the industry perceives us as a destination in my opinion.
-
Mate of a mate who knows some Collingwood people, so not posting it as solid undisputed fact, just what I heard.
-
Read the previous posts for context mate, talking about senior experience as in as a senior assistant.
-
Dees offered 750k from what I heard.
-
Yze was a part time coach until 2015 though. Backline coach for a couple of years, then strategy coach for 1 year. Goodwin was an assistant coach for a few years, then senior assistant, then coach in waiting under Roos. Obviously not rating them as the same potential, but Goodwin had far more senior experience when appointed head coach.

Cleary: Third team in the mix for Elliot
