WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
Had a poor September, no doubt. Doesn't define him as a player though.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
I'm not knocking Frost by any stretch, but implying he is a better user/decision maker than Tomlinson is incorrect IMO. King is making calls based on what he's seen in the finals this year I reckon, I doubt any sensible commentator would say Tomlinson is a "butcher" when looking at his career. I don't think Frost is our best "lockdown" defender at all. He's great on the rebound, but he was quite often beaten in one on one standing contests inside 50. There's also been a bit of rumour around that both May and Lever weren't happy with Frost's ability to stay within the defensive structures this year. A best 22 player for a Grand Finalist team who "brings no value" to the 17th placed team? Bizarre comment.

Dockers Appoint Longmuir as Coach
So, any Freo assistants we may look at now?

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
Just a hunch, but I reckon looking at the amount of spots we'll need to fill compared to our number of draft picks, the plan was always going to be split the pick in some way. Especially seeing it seems likely we miss out on Elliot.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
Over the last 3 years, Frost has managed 51 games for a club that made finals once in that time and this year finished 17th. In the same time, Tomlinson has played 73 games for a club that played finals every year and this year played in the Grand Final. I love Frosty, but I also recognize the realities of what he has and doesn't have. This all just seems like the classic overrate your own players syndrome.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
The AFL will officially announce their rescue package for the Gold Coast Suns as early as Monday, with a priority pick at its core. The package will give the Suns access to the second pick in this yearās draft, with the club already securing the first pick courtesy of their wooden spoon finish. Damien Barrett told Trade Radio the latest the deal would be announced was Tuesday. Gold Coast Suns priority pick: AFL to officially announce Gold Coast rescue package in next 48 hours

Goal Kicking Coach
Threw up a few names early on in the assistants thread. Anyone heard any names mentioned? (Mine were just suggestions)

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
Reckon you'll find that when people raise that point they're talking about a secondary plan DURING games, not a changing in overall style once the year is cooked. Think you'll find we rarely adjusting in-game during the season, under either overall style, so it's not horse sh*t at all. I'm not a Goodwin hater at all, but it's pretty obvious it's a weakness of him and his team to this stage.

When big clubs stop being big clubs
Clearly you absolutely relish being negative, but the point was more that you've said this same thing over and over again. Would recommend changing the record or at least trying to be constructive as you're not telling anyone anything we don't already know and it's incredibly boring.

Farewell Sam Frost
Just reckon that's terrible management. Will that now impact his preseason? Will it be the same next year? Did it do more damage having him play all year? (Not questions directed at you btw, just thinking out loud).

When big clubs stop being big clubs
Do we really need the same thread from you over and over and over?
-
Farewell Sam Frost
Given we were out of finals contention after about round 6, why was he played "all year" then and not sent off for treatment?

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
What other free agents are a good age for us, fill some needs, don't want huge overs and are willing to come to the 17th placed side?

Ben Sokol
Ben Sokol (Subiaco) ā 23-year-old, 186cm, 85kgs ā 16disp, 8.6mks, 3.2 tcks, 12 goals, 10 behinds Perhaps unlucky not to get selected in last yearās National Draft, Sokol has begun the season as he finished 2018. A star in last yearās grand final (19 disposals, 12 marks, 5.3), Sokol is a genuinely strong medium-sized forward and his ability to hit the scoreboard can provide an immediate injection to any attack at senior level. Sokolās endurance is a key reason for his dominant numbers at WAFL. One of the fittest players in the competition, Sokol is a genuine siren-to-siren player and can get himself into strong positions when the going gets tough due to his work rate. Two teams that immediately spring to mind that could use Sokolās skillset are Sydney and Melbourne who, despite seemingly having a handful of mid-sized forwards, could use a hard-working, fit goalkicker with excellent hands inside forward 50. The WAFL stars deserving of a mid-season opportunity

Ben Sokol
The oldest player invited to next month's state Combine at 23, Sokol shapes as one of the prime prospects from a fertile but heavily harvested WAFL breeding ground. The 186cm half-forward claimed the Bernie Naylor Medal as the state league's leading goalkicker in 2019 and finished the year with 60 majors. Classy forward's timely reminder for recruiters in WAFL GF thrashing

Premiers soon
The sad thing is, this hits the supporters harder than the players IMO. We've been around well before the current group, and will be around long after them. The Giants found an identity this year and have become a real footy club after 8 years. We've not got close to that in a long long time.

Billy Stretch
From memory, 2016 was the year they basically gave ANB a development year and played him as an inside mid at Casey to work on his intent, involvement and pressure. It worked. He had a ripper year at that level and the 2 years after that he was very good. Stretch hasn't had that opportunity unfortunately as, IMO, Goodwin flip flops around more than Roos with selection, roles etc. People are forgetting how good ANB was in 17-18 for us, and his games during that time were miles and miles ahead of anything Stretch has produced at senior level under any coach. Sad to lose Billy, he's VERY highly rated as far as training standards and culture goes, but let's be honest here, looking at their games over their careers, not just their stats (different roles anyway), ANB is a fair way ahead of Stretch as far as impacting games.

Re-Signings 2019
Square deal mate. Let's hope we're buying these beers at a game in September!

Get serious
"When will this club..." ā "We made a prelim" ā "Pats on the back" ā Home base ā Social club ā "Accepting mediocrity" ā Are you a bot by any chance?

Re-Signings 2019
No you didn't. You listed our draft picks. You haven't named them. Have never once claimed that, you're getting a bit silly now. What I have heard is that we came hard for Elliot but he's more likely to stay at Collingwood now as they've upped their offer due to rival interest and due to Wells retiring. Come on mate. Seriously. Straw clutching at it's finest now. So this anonymous pick 74 has "greater potential" than a 23 year old player who played a key role in our run to a prelim. He has shown he's up to it already. You're just one of the many who fall into this trap of thinking every player is either an absolute gun or an absolute spud. I really don't think you have a grasp of how any of this works tbh. So in saying that, I'm out. We are just way too far apart in this and it's getting boring for me, so can only imagine how boring it is for everyone else reading our argument. Have a good one. If "pick 74" ends up taking ANB's spot next year then first round is on me.

Re-Signings 2019
Elliot isnāt coming to us. Your list numbers donāt add up. Who is this 18 year old weāre taking with pick 74 thatās going to improve our depth more than having ANB on our list next year? Name? Iām assuming āpick 74ā will be instant best 22 as well of course, otherwise heās a failure in your eyes. Really you just made my point for me. Maybe list management isnāt as easy as you think hey? Still waiting for that list btw.

Re-Signings 2019
You brought up the number 10 mate. I've already outlined how many it will probably be. Still waiting on that list....

Re-Signings 2019
ANB was a big part of our team in the year we made a prelim. Wagner is a solid defensive backup when needed. Are we delisting Gus as well? He had a poor 19 compared to 18. Your "proven to be duds" sentiment is just the typical rubbish served up on the internet when people try to put across their opinions as truth when the reality is nowhere near it. But sure, list the (minimum) 10 players we're going to make magically appear via our 5 draft picks, and in what ways they are better than the players you want to delist. As well as how our depth will be effected by bringing in 18 year olds to replace them. Annnnnnd go.

Re-Signings 2019
That's how you're trying to sell it now. But to me, that reads like you're happy with Corey in a rookie spot but the rest you don't want. Because in your other posts you bang on about "best 22" all the time. We just perceive how lists work differently mate. You seem to think anyone not "best 22" (which isn't even a thing btw) should be delisted and replaced by some imaginary gun player we will pick up without having to trade or use a draft pick for. Then you get all upset about their imaginary over the top salaries that you're convinced they have. I find myself not excited by the re-signings but at least try to understand how it all fits together under a salary cap and with the limitations on bringing in substantially better quality of depth without having anything at all to use to get it.
