  1. Reckon you'll find that when people raise that point they're talking about a secondary plan DURING games, not a changing in overall style once the year is cooked. Think you'll find we rarely adjusting in-game during the season, under either overall style, so it's not horse sh*t at all. I'm not a Goodwin hater at all, but it's pretty obvious it's a weakness of him and his team to this stage.
  2. Clearly you absolutely relish being negative, but the point was more that you've said this same thing over and over again. Would recommend changing the record or at least trying to be constructive as you're not telling anyone anything we don't already know and it's incredibly boring.
  3. Just reckon that's terrible management. Will that now impact his preseason? Will it be the same next year? Did it do more damage having him play all year? (Not questions directed at you btw, just thinking out loud).
  4. Do we really need the same thread from you over and over and over?
  5. Given we were out of finals contention after about round 6, why was he played "all year" then and not sent off for treatment?
  6. Hasn't seen his Dad for years.
  7. What other free agents are a good age for us, fill some needs, don't want huge overs and are willing to come to the 17th placed side?
  8. Ben Sokol (Subiaco) – 23-year-old, 186cm, 85kgs – 16disp, 8.6mks, 3.2 tcks, 12 goals, 10 behinds Perhaps unlucky not to get selected in last year’s National Draft, Sokol has begun the season as he finished 2018. A star in last year’s grand final (19 disposals, 12 marks, 5.3), Sokol is a genuinely strong medium-sized forward and his ability to hit the scoreboard can provide an immediate injection to any attack at senior level. Sokol’s endurance is a key reason for his dominant numbers at WAFL. One of the fittest players in the competition, Sokol is a genuine siren-to-siren player and can get himself into strong positions when the going gets tough due to his work rate. Two teams that immediately spring to mind that could use Sokol’s skillset are Sydney and Melbourne who, despite seemingly having a handful of mid-sized forwards, could use a hard-working, fit goalkicker with excellent hands inside forward 50. The WAFL stars deserving of a mid-season opportunity
  9. The oldest player invited to next month's state Combine at 23, Sokol shapes as one of the prime prospects from a fertile but heavily harvested WAFL breeding ground. The 186cm half-forward claimed the Bernie Naylor Medal as the state league's leading goalkicker in 2019 and finished the year with 60 majors. Classy forward's timely reminder for recruiters in WAFL GF thrashing
  10. The sad thing is, this hits the supporters harder than the players IMO. We've been around well before the current group, and will be around long after them. The Giants found an identity this year and have become a real footy club after 8 years. We've not got close to that in a long long time.
  11. From memory, 2016 was the year they basically gave ANB a development year and played him as an inside mid at Casey to work on his intent, involvement and pressure. It worked. He had a ripper year at that level and the 2 years after that he was very good. Stretch hasn't had that opportunity unfortunately as, IMO, Goodwin flip flops around more than Roos with selection, roles etc. People are forgetting how good ANB was in 17-18 for us, and his games during that time were miles and miles ahead of anything Stretch has produced at senior level under any coach. Sad to lose Billy, he's VERY highly rated as far as training standards and culture goes, but let's be honest here, looking at their games over their careers, not just their stats (different roles anyway), ANB is a fair way ahead of Stretch as far as impacting games.
  12. Square deal mate. Let's hope we're buying these beers at a game in September!
  13. "When will this club..." ✅ "We made a prelim" ✅ "Pats on the back" ✅ Home base ✅ Social club ✅ "Accepting mediocrity" ✅ Are you a bot by any chance?
  14. No you didn't. You listed our draft picks. You haven't named them. Have never once claimed that, you're getting a bit silly now. What I have heard is that we came hard for Elliot but he's more likely to stay at Collingwood now as they've upped their offer due to rival interest and due to Wells retiring. Come on mate. Seriously. Straw clutching at it's finest now. So this anonymous pick 74 has "greater potential" than a 23 year old player who played a key role in our run to a prelim. He has shown he's up to it already. You're just one of the many who fall into this trap of thinking every player is either an absolute gun or an absolute spud. I really don't think you have a grasp of how any of this works tbh. So in saying that, I'm out. We are just way too far apart in this and it's getting boring for me, so can only imagine how boring it is for everyone else reading our argument. Have a good one. If "pick 74" ends up taking ANB's spot next year then first round is on me.
  15. Elliot isn’t coming to us. Your list numbers don’t add up. Who is this 18 year old we’re taking with pick 74 that’s going to improve our depth more than having ANB on our list next year? Name? I’m assuming “pick 74” will be instant best 22 as well of course, otherwise he’s a failure in your eyes. Really you just made my point for me. Maybe list management isn’t as easy as you think hey? Still waiting for that list btw.
  16. You brought up the number 10 mate. I've already outlined how many it will probably be. Still waiting on that list....
  17. ANB was a big part of our team in the year we made a prelim. Wagner is a solid defensive backup when needed. Are we delisting Gus as well? He had a poor 19 compared to 18. Your "proven to be duds" sentiment is just the typical rubbish served up on the internet when people try to put across their opinions as truth when the reality is nowhere near it. But sure, list the (minimum) 10 players we're going to make magically appear via our 5 draft picks, and in what ways they are better than the players you want to delist. As well as how our depth will be effected by bringing in 18 year olds to replace them. Annnnnnd go.
  18. That's how you're trying to sell it now. But to me, that reads like you're happy with Corey in a rookie spot but the rest you don't want. Because in your other posts you bang on about "best 22" all the time. We just perceive how lists work differently mate. You seem to think anyone not "best 22" (which isn't even a thing btw) should be delisted and replaced by some imaginary gun player we will pick up without having to trade or use a draft pick for. Then you get all upset about their imaginary over the top salaries that you're convinced they have. I find myself not excited by the re-signings but at least try to understand how it all fits together under a salary cap and with the limitations on bringing in substantially better quality of depth without having anything at all to use to get it.
  19. You're complaining about the 8 players we've re-signed, so 8 plus 8 equals 16.
  20. Who? Please name the 16 players we're going to recruit who would be better than the 8 we're likely to lose and the 8 we just re-signed. Those 16 players also need to be ones that would be available at the picks we have, with trades we can do with picks (seeing we can't lose more players) or free agents. 16. Go. Rubbish comment mate. Come on. You have no idea what they're earning. Once again, no team has 40+ "best 22" players. You're just showing you don't understand the complexities of a list. Just FYI for you... Losing: Lewis Garlett Maynard Keilty Smith Walker Probably losing: Stretch JKH Possibly losing (differing chances): Frost KK A contracted player who requests a trade So potentially we already have about 7-8 senior spots to fill already. Replacing: Tomlinson Langdon Pick 3 Pick 39ish Pick 57ish Pick 75ish That's all we have atm. Already we have quite possibly more list spots than options to fill them, and you want to delist another 8 players. How exactly are you replacing them? I get that it's the internet and people like to make brash statements, but so many are showing how little they're bothering to look at this situation as a big picture.
  21. Geez I hope so.
  22. Likely not coming now from what I've heard. Dees came hard, Collingwood ended up being able to up their offer.
  23. We've already lost 5 players, and there's at least 3 more to come. I know these blokes aren't exciting, but I think the reactions in this thread show a big misunderstanding about how salary caps, recruiting, lists etc all work together. We'll have at least 8 spots to fill already, what kind of quality do you think we're getting once we're down to our 11th-12th recruit in one offseason?
  24. I know they're not sexy footballers for the most part, but you know what you're going to get from each, so for mine that's solid.
  25. Agreed. Which is why we're trying to improve it this offseason and a fair few are on their way out already. Don't understand the over the top reaction here to re-signing some cheap solid depth though.
