Even though Sydney kicked the first goals , their players were strutting around like they owned the place and the Swan supporters all around us (how are they allowed to nominate our members area on the ticketing system as the place to sit) were vocal in their arrogance, sure they were about to see a typical Melbourne mental meltdown and capitulation, I was calm, and confident the boys would bounce back. What is this new feeling? Never felt this way at a footy game before. This team is different. After each Swan goal they gathered in their groups and talked tactics, supporting each other, a real team lifter. They didn't panic. They had faith in each other. Yes, some players had an off night, but others rallied to drag them along. The Sydney flood returned, but it was a sign of Melbourne's unwillingness to give in that allowed them to counteract everything the Swans tried. (Note to Sydney players: beating up on young players while the umpires are preoccupied with the centre bounce is not a sign of toughness.) The Big Mac was magnificent. What a master of a goal kicker. When he was lining up on the boundary line on the city end I was supremely confident in him scoring a goal. My friends around me had their heads in their hands. Oh yea of little faith. This is Tommy Mac! Big Ben took a mark right in front of us with one finger. Ho, ho, what a show off!? Looking forward to bigger and better things from BBB. Even though it was a hard fought win and close all night, it was thoroughly enjoyable. I was never worried or stressed. This is truly a new existence.

Went to the MCG tonight and enjoyed a Big Mac and a Hash Brown. Tasty! I was disappointed a banana Fritter failed to appear on the menu, so my sweet tooth wasn't satisfied. Still, a good Saturday night out.?

That's why I asked does anyone know anything concrete. It was spruiked as an exclusive. Is it true?

Just saw the news on Seven. Trac wants to stay beyond 2022. Melbourne have to do the deal. Collingwood crying.

I have been a member since the 70's so not much joy for me either. I was reminded of my children. Their childhood as football supporters was not fun for them. It was good to see the kids enjoying themselves.? P.S. Yes I feel old too.

Someone else mentioned they did and I assume they are right. I think it is because the Tasmanian premier didn't want the footballers to be wandering around, even for training. Fly in, play the game, fly out. All to do with the COVID. He was threatening to cancel the game during the week. He had an election to win.

Think of the children. At the Hawthorn game I saw the joy in their faces when their team was winning and kicking goals. I feel so happy for them as well. We need this success for new generations of supporters.

The team should not fly to the venue on the morning of the match. Flights seem to suck the life out of the players!

This is devastating to be losing to this pathetic excuse of a team. Melbourne you are back to being the laughing stock of the league.

Looks like they used all their fire power on Richmond last week.

Okay they got me.?I told you Corona was getting to me. Those Richmond supporters near us last night really cheesed me off too. I feel like I can't enjoy the win because of the lack of respect even by the media.

Read my post on What they are saying at Punt Road. So sick of this [censored]. I and my family have never been to the feckkin snow. Ever. They think they are so funny. Well I'm over it. Corona robbed me of any sense of humour. This stereotype is like a form of bullying. They want us to stop calling bread with hundreds and thousands on it Fairy bread because it upsets some people, well I'm calling out this snow [censored].?

Listen to me you feral Richmond followers, I have been to more Melbourne games than you have had sloppy beers. I have supported my team through all the bad times of which there has been many, enough to destroy the soul of the most hardened football supporter. I have never cried foul and called for the head of the coach etc, spat on my players, sent chook manure to the club, threatened to send back my membership card or burn it in the microwave. Never cried poor and asked the other clubs' supporters for help (remember Save Our Skins?), whinged and sooked about the lack of success ad nauseum. When you know it is a Melbourne home game but deliberately pick seats in the Melbourne reserved seat members section because the stupid ticketing system lets you and instead of humbly supporting your team, you want to stir and give it to the Melbourne supporters around you while slurping on your tenth beer, don't be surprised when they finally get fed up with your crapola and give some lip back. Go and sit somewhere else. Pee off. Which you did. Sore losers. Where I was at the MCG there were more Melbourne people and we were louder than the Richmond sooks. As soon as it started raining and Richmond were behind they all disappeared. Who are the fair weather supporters? Not us. We have stuck through everything. And oh yeah I have never been to the hecking snow, not once. As for Kozzie he has the arrogance of youth. Good luck to him. We don't know what those Tiger players were saying and doing to him prior to that incident. I reckon they were being the cocky dheads they always are. Keep winning Melbourne and stick it up them all.

"Get used to it Melbourne supporters!" These were the words yelled out by a fool of a Richmond supporter after each goal kicked by his team at the start of the game. I was regretting giving money to this sorry lot when they were rattling the tins for the Save Our Skins campaign when they were down and out all those years ago. Would these arrogant twerps have done the same for us? I doubt it. By the end of the second quarter the fool had gone quiet and the rain had driven him away because it must have been diluting his beer, and YES, us Melbourne supporters were getting used to it. Getting used to our team giving the Tigers a football lesson, demonstrating a hunger and ferocity for the ball which was super exciting to watch. Is this it? Is this the team to bring the ultimate success? I think they believe they are. Confidence is a beautiful thing. Tonight I sat in the rain and witnessed something beautiful. And I am getting used to it. This was a great win.

How is it I remember the times Richmond supporters seem to have forgotten? The tin rattling for the Save Our Skins campaign when they were dead broke and an endangered species. The delivery of chook manure by disgruntled fans. The returning of membership cards or the burning of them when another unsuccessful season was unfolding. Ah, yes, those were the days. Richmond supporters should not forget where they came from and be a bit more humble. "If you really look closely, most overnight successes took a long time." - Steve Jobs

Relax people, we can only take this ONE WEEK AT A TIME.

Speaking of half sloshed, I heard Dermie on the radio this afternoon. Declared he wasn't impressed with Melbourne, despite their convincing win. Dermie, I think there were some sour grapes in that wine you were drinking at lunch.?

The words 'star' and 'superstar' are thrown around now like colourful confetti. But like confetti, it does not last. The word for Jones is 'champion'. Champion player, champion person. Congratulations Nathan.

Waited for the last quarter with frustration and trepidation. From what I observed at the ground, Melbourne had been playing better than Hawthorn, but just couldn't score! Trepidation because I worried the mental doubts would creep into the players' minds like so many times before and Hawthorn would pounce. After Mitch Brown's second goal I got an SMS from a mad Demons supporter - "It's effing happening!!" Yes my friend, it was. Last week it rained. This week it was raining goals. Sitting behind the Melbourne Cheer Squad is the best place to be when the ball comes sailing through the middle of the posts. The roar, the joy, the chants. The love. Someone behind us was yelling out "I love you Trent!" " I love you Hibbo!" "I love you Kozzie!" Love all around. Children were smiling and jumping up and down. They have probably never seen so many goals in a quarter. They were so excited. Max is a giant among men. When he was resting in the goal square the Cheer Squad members were bowing in his presence. We cheered his every move. Give us a wink Max! We all love you! The whole quarter went by in a blur. Everyone played like a champion. I shall have to watch the replay to convince myself what I witnessed was real. It was magnificent.

No. Just get juniors. No one questions you at the gates. It"s just a barcode on the phone.

That's what we did. If they don't let us in there will be a riot. I didn't appreciate seeing Geelong supporters sitting in my premium paid seats last week and having them drinking beer all around me when previously that section was a Dry Area.

Never doubted him. Love love love Clarrie
