When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Fanatique Demon replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don’t think we wanted to, but we were in the habit of falling in a heap. It was certainly our wont. -

Tells us more about Australians than it does about Meat Loaf!

Part 4: Dees top 100 of the past 50 years 21-40
Fanatique Demon replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
We’re now into jumer-number-games-record-holder territory. Yes, this is my super-power. I can name them all from memory - although I can’t remember much about what happened yesterday 😀 Bruce (32), Robertson (24), Green (18), Alves (15), Johnstone (16), Wight (27) [along with Rivers], Davey (36), Stephen Febey (21), James McDonald (23), Smith (35). Wonderful players who’d have been champions in any team. -

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Fanatique Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It must be great to get the nod, wink, impromptu chat with strangers when wearing Demons gear. I have worn a Demons hat, scarf or jumper virtually every day since the Premiership. Whether here in France or in southern Spain (where I spent seven weeks in the sun) no one knows what it’s about. I envy you locals! -
Part 3 - Top 100 Demons of the past 50 years
Fanatique Demon replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks again, Deespic. I have been waiting not so patiently for this. Your knowledge of the players, games and even particular incidents within those games is just amazing. The links to videos are also very much appreciated. To help those unfamiliar with nicknames, I wonder if you could please add the surnames of who you’re talking about. Eg, Dollars, Beamer. Already looking forward to the next instalment. Cheers! -
POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Fanatique Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Soon after the Grand Final I changed my computer password to celebrate the magnificent drought-breaking Premiership. Since then, whenever it’s time to update a password I create another one in honour of our team. Have any other Demonlanders done that too? -
Sorry, add RUN, etc. (Predictive text combined with fat fingers)
-
I didn’t say I wanted a player who just bombed it long. I said I would like Bowey to ADD trunk and long kicking sometimes. It isn’t either/or.
-
The only problem I see with Bowey is that, unlike Hunt, he rarely kicks long or runs the ball out of defence. Yes, he passes accurately to the next guy, but it takes longer to clear the defensive area. And sometimes there’s a big advantage to our forwards in getting the ball quickly into attack. Maybe he can add more kicking depth and run to his game next season.

If The Rev* named a Dees team...

You all have too much time on your hands! -
That was the other line I was considering 😀

Interesting use of the word ‘caste’ there, Bitter. So do you mean cast aside, as in put aside? Or is there a deeper meaning just lacking a couple of commas. Ie, ‘I hereby declare and, caste aside, etc?’ 😜

Or even a shoo-in. a person or thing that is certain to succeed, especially someone who is certain to win a competition. "he was a shoo-in for re-election"

Part 2: Top 100 players of the past 50 years - 61-80
Fanatique Demon replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for your considerable work, Deespic. Excellent analysis that brings back memories. In my view, Jarman was heaps better than O’Dwyer. And I really can’t see Miller as high as 76. But it’s all opinion anyway. Looking forward to the next instalment. -
Same could have been said of Jackson until halfway through 2021. (Although he managed to double grab a few.) Then he held the marks and finished the season as a star in our Premiership. Come on, Sam! Same thing awaits you.

Classy!

Hi Col. Avatar and ????
-
Likewise. That’d be great. Where are you moving from?
-
Amazing effort, Werridee. Thanks.
-
Hey, Grr-owl…. That’s when we’re expecting to return. We might have to navigate a lot of stuff around that time. Phone plans, electricity suppliers, furnishings, etc. But the daunting thing is the move and the crazy costs associated with it. Bonne chance, ami.

Received my voucher for 2022. I can confirm that the subscription covers past seasons’ games from 2017.
