Curtin at 6 if not Caddy/Sanders and Windsor at 11 if not Wilson.
-
Firstly I think Disco is AFL ready end if story just needs the games. Secondly you didn’t mention Jed Adams who is a year away probably but recruited for a back KP role. Thirdly think Daniel Curtin from WA is about 195/6cm and the player who can also play on the ball who would be best if still at 6. Caddy if not a great back up unless we went for solely a back player only. I think a versatile option id best. Adams is that and JVR and Harry P are also changeable.

We can only hope and let Shane do the flying and Kossie the crumbing!

Harry not Garry!!

Sorry Poita but we would have a Turnover of about 10/12 each Season if you were TL or JT. Your recent comment midweek involved about 4 players who you indicated would or should not be on our list ( Laurie is almost your go to whipping boy). He is contracted so give him the time ( yes 3 years and this year you say but count out the first year due to injury to be fair). Also we would have not kept Gawny or won our wonderful flag under your keep ‘‘em moving 2 year policy. On this occasion I actually agree with you on retaining or not K. Turner but take deference to your 193cm as TOO short for a key position. If you have 2 others above that then it’s a third defender role in which we have Disco as a third banana. He played tall and marking is only one if his attributes. But it’s the 78 kegs that is damming if in fact true. Hardly even a flankers weight!! BTW I think Laurie was good as Sub vs Hawks and Swans with his skills and ball involvement. But not so much in the fray of the QF vs Pies. Also your views are so black and white and in a Club with 44 players there is grey very much involved. People or our players are our greatest asset and we need to be firm ( and a touch ruthless like with CLarry and Garry). A balance is needed or we will ruin our destination club reputation far too soon after all the good work in the last decade.

AFLW: Rd 08 vs North Melbourne
58er replied to Timothy Reddan-A'Blew's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Not with our Casey deal and as a true home grown advantage. However it’s a bit like Hawks and Pies and Dons and Blues playing at the G in AFL. it is fan wise a real no brainer. The girls like both venues no doubt also. -

Shades of Clarry’s injury without the extra mayonnaise. -
I fully support both Harry and the Club in their views of the recent trade fiasco ( largely from Crows officials and SA media outlets.) News Corp are a very biased organisation in both sport and politics but this TV tirade by the SA media about Harry was nothing but over the top and really not unexpected from a small town Woe is (us) me attitude. MFC and and its officials TL especially performed this very professionally by strong statements publicly and as we all read great consultation with Harry through Goody and Richo and himself. I personally believe much of the “go home” heat was created by the media and the ridiculous throw away AJarman line plus the Crows jumping on board to apply the blow torch to Harry to be fair is not Stephen May in public voice and opinion. I’s a real let my footy do the talking and that’s why we love him so much after performing Tommo’s role in the 2021 Flag. ( incidentally I have no doubt Disco will do the same when hopefully given his opportunity in Round1) Yes I don’t know how much Harry’s manager was involved but we have certain players who we can’t lose and with 2 more years on contract that seems about fair as he will be only 25 with 6/7 years ahead and Crows right in their premiership window again. Furthermore why should we take into account any potential haste as a reason for his “only one injury away from his career end” potential scenario. That’s gazing into the future and has no realistic role in player decision making. We are nurturing him getting him back to full playing health so let us reap the rewards for that. And yes I have not mentioned Harry’s right to ask to return to SA but nothing has convinced me that an outlandish offer ( not dissimilar to Jake Levers ) from the Crows in part for our Lever heist and now that Macca ( McAdam) has had the strength to ask to be traded we have been insulted with the pathetic trade offers from an under pressure to recruit media and fantasy based officials that didn’t help at all in this matter I am proud that our Club retain ed Harry ( as we did with Clarry) at this crucial period in our premiership window. Go Dees and Harry P.

They did have a "dynasty". But it was from 2001 to 2004 when Port were best team in the home and away period and under performed in Finals. What's so evident is that there is no doubt within the Club ( and a majority of our supporter base ) a strong school of opinion based on Kings Birthday and the QF that we have a very good grasp of how to beat the Pies. I don't think that's wrong or misplaced given what happened in both games. However maybe it's best left inside the four walls for the time being. The real facts are that we beat ourselves in both the QF vs Pies and Semi vs Blues with lack of composure and some very poor kicking for goal plus a couple of external factors which tipped the scales against us on the days. ( Over the 2 games the Maynard incident's effects, the Schache debacle, the indiscipline vs Blues and what seemed like a consistent lack of rub of the green in the Semi with both the field and referral personnel). Pity is we totally stuffed up the second chance we were given "not learning our lessons" to coin a very relevant phrase from over the season and QF. Now last season Cwood failed by four and one point in the QF vs Cats and one point vs the Swans the Prelim. I have no doubts they believed internally they should have won both those games and deserved to be in the GF. But we haven't heard them publicly utter such thoughts. They have let their actions do the talking this year no matter how close the results were. Our task is to do that in 2024 and win the flag to prove our internal claim and when we can then state we believed we were not far off the pace in 2023 and that has fuelled our base for belief and results in 2024. It's a simple task when stated but much harder in execution. We must leave no stones unturned if we are to to achieve this including asking IMO Hawkins, Isaac Smith, Sam Reid and Jack Ginnivan if any or either are keen to join us on the ride. If you don't ask you don't get!! We are justified to ask them because we are up to our eyeballs in the premiership race and the X factor of any one of them could well tip the scales in our favour in the very close competition that is the AFL in the modern era. Our results in the last 3 years are that we have lost 13 of 21 games by 7 points or less with about half of those having at least the same number or more scoring shots. Such a fine line.

74 I presume you are the age of your name and like me I am 75 ( 65 year supporter from 1958) and we at our age start to forget things, and you have forgotten Jed Adams from WA in last years draft was secured for that very reason. He might be a season away at least as he is bulking up this year and gaining experience, snd Disco Turner needs game time from Round 1 on the back line . We are reasonably served with both Joel Smith and Tmac who can play on talls as depth. IMO we need another KP forward/2nd ruckman this year far more than a defender. Of course Fullarton may well fill this gap as the session progresses.
-
There is no such position. It was a gross mistake Josh should have been on in the third quarter taking T Macs place.
-
If ever I had doubts that we have about 85/90% of the puzzle already you have convinced me. Other factors I see as crucial are (1) Kossie cutting out some dumb actions and scouting not flying (2) We have a back up ruck/forward colt in Fullarton who should provide good support for Maxy and forward line in general (3) Not sure why Turner trains forward should be third tall in defence most days and Tommo maybe for big beasts. (4) JVR to still continue in ruck generally up forward and some cameos elsewhere to gain experience. (5) Game plan is upgraded in pace and aggression as outlined in rpfc's post. (6) Change is made to coach of the forward line after 2 years of failure. Some of this is tweaking but all are important alterations to outlook and performance.

Useless question you ask !! We don't have Flynn any way so move on. TF is a Far better prospect and can play CHF and/or FF far better, ruck adequately and is 5 years younger. Did WC know how good Josh Kennedy was before they had him traded in the Judd deal ? No and TF is in his prime at 23/24 years to blossom in the big time on the big stage as a forward/ruck graduate in the Gawn school of footy. But seriously he has much more cred than Schache and starts with a blank canvas. He hasn't been harmed up forward at Brisbane under JoeD and Hippy yet so he can freewheel into town with no scars and a big open mind to show what he's got for us in the big time. I am genuinely pleased and well a bit excited at the prospect of a 200cm forward joining our ranks at the prime time of a career for a big KP/ ruck player perhaps for a second/third round ( possibly No 39 for JJ). What's the story about candy and babies? Who cares he's our baby now for Chocco to finish off his apprenticeship and provide some candy that's far better than a Shacky out of ol' Brisbane town. Let the Olympic ( I mean AFL) games begin in 2024 and hopefully go thru to 2032 for TF. Well he won't outlast Dan's career but surely Anastasia's by a decent way! PS we have a new Tommy in town to replace our old and worn out Tmac tractor and BBB machine with a bit of ruck craft to boot. Cheers Dees!! ( Hope these words don't raise false hopes ) Oh and TF please don't let me down! No pressure!!

Either for him or Fullarton.
-
Understand now DD. Yes if we don't get another ruck/forward in Tom will be very handy IMO. Also can play CHF or FF.
-
Want to wager that DD. In what world are you living in. Who is Maxy's back up then? if he was here this year he would have been either in our Semi team or as Sub instead of Schache. He like Schache can play a key position so is more versatile than Brody.
-
Agree his odds would be good to take. Because this is voted by the Coaches JV will get his due volume as a team man and following coaches instructions.
-
Good luck JJ. Thanks for all your efforts for the Dees. You are still a valued member of our 2021 Flag and will always be remembered for that.

Can be traded back in some deals as steak knives !!

Absolute rubbish as he has requested to come to Melb the city and team so that's quite smart he has done some homework. I have seen him live at the Gabba ( go to about 7/8 games a season when not coming to Melb for about 6/7 Dees games at the G) and us quite a good mark and is not overwhelmed in competing in the ruck. Bring 24 and 200cm he could blossom like Maxy at 23 in 2015. I reckon he has the skills and mobility to be a chance for a key position player forward or back also if we need one. He has not had a lot of games and even in those only quarters or halves or some bench time. Good mark and better in air than Jacko was. I am predicting he will be quite a surprise. Please don't compare him with the Shack he is farbmore competitive with out being a beast. From memory a reliable kick for goal and has reasonably good mobility for a 200cm. unit. In summary very good pick up and adding McAdam and Tom while not considered stars if they are good to reasonable AFL will add two more styles to our forward line to utilise plus assist Maxy most importantly at times. Also those who want to discourage JVR from rucking are not thinking this thoroughly. It's all experience for him and he is so competitive he will end up getting ruck infringement frees plus he is not hopeless on the ground where so many other rucks are not very good. He will be going for second efforts like Jacko did and be a regular on the assist score figures. He needs this opportunity to learn tuck craft at this stage of his career even if there is a chance he may be injured. My take is that it will be the other player that is more likely to suffer than JVR solely due to his style of play and instincts in excess of the other players. It also will keep himself honest as he competes with defenders for marks plus at any time he may be switched on down back to assist our boys down there to mind someone doing some damage. Two trade recruits already who knows who else may Bob up or be traded before the closing date.

Exactly my point I was going to make.

Thanks a lot for your trouble much appreciated. Even mentioning the characters didn't mean much at all. If I watched more than ONE episode of Seinfeld for 5 minutes that's about how much I have watched and of about a dozen American " comedies" in my 75 years. Others for eg. are Fraser Don't Tell Your Mother, another with an actor who was named Earle etc. A friend made me watch the LAST episode of Seinfeld about 25/30 years ago and it was a waste of time really. Even though I have had Foxtel for 15 years I have never watched repeats of the American comedies. I did watch "The Nanny" and liked that I was into British comedies ie Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served and Yes Minister with IMO far superior if vastly different comedy lines and topics. Much the same with Crime Shows also. I thought there must have been a joke I didn't get or I would have taken umbrage with him. Thanks again and Go Dees.

What details to you want? They have been on the website for weeks. Unless you are expecting a live coverage as per recent seasons. Not sure we didn't have to register our details for a zoom coverage.

Not yet it is tonight if you have got it right. ( You can watch it!!! ) Yes was live last year and 2021 I think.
