It's never too late !!! 2nd Ruck and forward pocket trial for Sam should have been done for this game. Maybe Sam can be the Med sub!!
-
Should have been given a rest and Sam an opportunity to shine in the second Ruck and forward role. Clearly Sam a different player when not minded by one defender and is quite creative and skilful with handball etc. Agsin Goody misses a trick and timing is the key. Also go along with other posters who said CHB trial for Sam would be good. Small defenders role ( assuming Bowey plays forward) is still a worry.
-
Because we play Docklands well Lookat our past 5 years results OD!!

If there isn't any changes! Surely Sam W should be given a go to be second Ruck and forward just to change things snd also help Jacko get some form back either on the track or once VFL games resume. At the same time just a run on the ball might get Salem back to his best and a change for ANB to refresh him. Is there any point in considering Daw or Declase? Jonesy and Melky must be given a chance and should be fresh to boot. Defence wise we should have a small defender either Lockhart or Bowey to get the ground ball crumbs that are coming in to test our defence. Goody ( and the other Selectors) must react to our drop in form especially disposal and kicking skills. It must be addressed not just wiped away as is our ridiculous forward pocket and boundary obsession for our forward line. Maybe swap Tmac and Petty to make the opposition think more and not just the same old same old! We only need a 10/15% up swing and we can still give this flag a shake as we have no been totally wiped off in any game and been in the game with 10 mins to go in all games!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
58er replied to olisik's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's not true Dr D you predicted he would be a real failure and w"would not make it" this season. Completely different views to what has happened. Yes he can slow down and use more composure and style but nothing can takeaway his skills and ability that have revitalised our forward line and made all opponents scared of Kossie whenever he gets near the ball. Please don't go claiming credit where it's not due. All Dees supporters are thrilled about Kossies development which is fast by any standards and let's see what happens in the next 2 months. His best skills are unmatchable and excitement unparalleled and he is still just a teenager. -
Exactly what I am asking. Looked the same. Complete over reaction but we must start getting some cohesion going to build up for Finals snd to launch from Top2 or if not then Top4 to give ourselves a rest in the second week if necessary.

My understanding is that its mainly ( and only) the Sunday 3.20pm game that Channel 7 (FTA) AFL coverage is not available. Some other games may have to be altered by about 2 hours forward to fit into the Olympic broadcast schedule.

Because they haven't finalised the details YET obviously.

Amazing effort in Covid ravaged year however success on the field is always the catalyst for membership no's. Hopefully the 12,000 new members this season are half new and half resigning from previous years. If so it gives confidence for the future to reach day 60,000 next season with hopefully A big new Cup and Flag to add to our dozen already coveted. Congratulations to every member who has helped the Club achieve this ground breaking target.

I Disagree. You can only go on total wins otherwise you may as well start splitting Each Premiership from 1900 to 1964 on its merits ie games win or lost etc with W snd L. Being The salient solo figure. Each season is different and a total of wins/ losses is always going to be crucial but that is the stories that lay behind the records that books etc can keep us informed about snd fascinate us fans.
-
My understanding is 16 wins 6 losses in 2004 and no finals wins being beaten by Bombers in their last finals win in the elimination Final. In our glory years 1956 I believe we won 16 and lost 2 in home and away round then won the 2 finals ( 2nd Semi and Grand Final) and the flag of course. Where you get your 17 game information from is mystifying. You only need to consider years we have made the Top 4, 5, 6 and 8. A total of 18 games was the normal number except in years which were affected by the World Wars from 1914/18 and 1941/45 with not all Clubs participating in each season. The AFL season has been a total of 20 and 22 games for the last 30/40 years and only 2020 was shortened to 17 Rounds as we all know due to Covid impact. So the 16 record for home and way wins can be broke as can the 18 wins total for 1956 including Finals as our most winning season. We are a great chance to break both IMO. If any D/Lander has any other figures to contradict this summary pleas feel get to offer your contribution as I am going on general knowledge rather than consulting record books.

FIXTURE: Rd 19 vs Gold Coast & Rd 20 vs Bulldogs
58er replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
There has been nothing from Our board/Perty about our commitment so it's not a split or even us making up for the lost game previously and .$ 800k. Purely a good chance to get national exposure on FTA TV and to show off our brand and skills near the pointy end of the season. -
Thanks CF sometimes a bit of composure is what Locky needs!
-
Locky is a small defender specialist who is a very good chance of becoming a real defender in the AFL once say Hibbo slows down or retires. Has pace snd skill and takes the game on.
-
Weeds has ability BUT continually fails to IMPACT himself on the game when he played only as a forward. Plus his good kicking is no longer reliable but a myth esp. at AFL level. That's why I think he is a Jacko replacement more than BBB or Tmac. Running around the ground he gets quite good involvement in the game and contests in the ruck adequately. Itcwas in complete contrast with BBB on Thursday night as he ensured that Port had to mind him and looked dangerous with ball on hand. He also took 2 marks which are normally given!! Forward line looks best for weeks and dalmost best for season. Inaccuracy body is agsin as about 4/5 set shots were squandered by perennial offenders.

Local media pundits not taking MFC as a serious threat.

Rubbish Saints are likely too quick fir Power at Marvel. completelty different to us playing Hawks at G and Suns in Darwin. -
Darwin is not much different in time to Gold Coast but humidity is. Lets see how player pull up after Darwin snd results of Hawks and Suns games, before we pull trigger on managing. This can often be done in games as well as if not better than trying to manufacture rests!
-
That's why I was aghast at losing 2 of our winners Lsngers and Gus!! Would have to be wingers.
-
That's why I didn't nominate the teams we would beat Dr. But I believe we will win 4 games minimum to finish inTop2.
-
I made up those odds because of the other ones bring both true and also unrealistic. Of course it's about 5% chance that Dogs could lose to Suns. Where is it going to be played ? But beating Tigers and GWS is different yo beating Dogs. Suns will have to kick 13/17 goals IMO.to win. You didn't answer my question about us Top2 ? Ignored as Dogsare our most likely team to stop us I reckon. And they won't be in the Top2 if they lose to the Suns!!!
-
So you font want us dominating the WINGS now they we have Langers almost AA and Angus defending and linking up on the other in 2nd best career form ( after 2018). Let us win at least 3 or 3 flags first and I wont give a toss what they call the game or how it's played. I will be in the sunset home still watching replays of our great wins Covid or no Covid!!
