  1. The abc is my main source for news, -tv, radio and online. What is guthrie’s motive SWYL? Is she wanting to broaden it’s appeal by dumbing it down? Or is it just cost cutting in response to the constant funding decreases? meanwhile I will miss Lateline...
  2. Well done Mazer, I agree with everything you have written, and admire your effort and succinct writing style. You are so right about McLaughlin, his exclusion was embarrassing, I didn’t realise he left.
  3. From this “Apparently earlier today I was in a 'sel-harm' mood and instead of calling lifeline I went through with it and watched the last quarter of the final game against Collingwood. Jack Watts absolutely stank it up that quarter. From failing to cover his opponent (cost a goal) to spectating and then failing to lay an effective tackle or smother in the goalsquare (cost a goal), to spectating and then arriving too late to affect a contest just outside the square (cost a point, luckily) to fluffing a forward run, to a whole string of really poor body language, it was terrible. I don't have a personal problem with Jack Watts the way some people seem to, but rewatching his last quarter for us has left me with a much better understanding of why he had to be moved on. Wishing him all the best (up to a certain point) at Port, and also confident we made the best decision possible at the time.” to this “Inspired by Little Goffys post above i watched the entire R23 game. ...missed it back then. Pies gave it their best. IMO Watts’ poor last quater was a bit exaggerated above. When we were thrashed in Q1 he was our best player, was good in Q2, maybe still our best by half time,,, average third and poor last quarters. I think the public nature of his unfair MFC treatment foolishly reduced his trade value for us. Here’s wishing Jack every success at Port Adelaide!” nothing is ever black and white
  4. Yes it’s interesting, Whateley was reported today as saying he won’t be changing his style and management don’t want him to, the plans for the station reaching a much broader audience was the appeal to switch. But as already said, outside afl season, growing the audience will be tough.
  5. Either SEN is going to change sufficiently, to start appealing to more than bogans (I count myself as one, considering the amount of time is spend listening to it) , or Whateley won’t last the year
  6. Well, we got the boot camp drama off talk back radio...
  7. It was addressed at the agm in response to a member question. And really, people care what Danny Frawley thinks???
  8. No I got an email with notification, random nature of communication may explain modest crowd.
  9. I was at the agm tonight where president, ceo and coach all responded to a question about why the camp was canceled. I was satisfied with the explanation, and am surprised at the amount of angst it is creating here. PJ’s comments- the purpose of camps like this is to fast track resilience, mfc has put concentrated effort into this area in recent years and to cancel was not going to mess with overall aim of preseason - injuries, and loss of conditioning, were seen as significant negatives resulting from last year’s camp - coaches don’t treat players as children but address their concerns seriously. PJ is a skilled communicator and no doubt has spun this explanation to minimise the degree of heated debate and bruised egos experienced, to arrive at the decision. But really, in context of all the information conveyed to the agm, this issue is a non-issue
  10. That is massive for our club, we are preferred to all others
  11. This is what it's all about. He chose us over Collingwood, how good is that?
  12. 100% I agree. I've been conflicted on Jack. I have come to appreciate the opinion that there must be more going on than in the public domain, for Goodwin be so enthusiastic that he explore his options. But conversely, I have a problem with us receiving a late second round pick for a loyal and talented player, who is at his prime.
  13. Didn't Goodwin say, that if watts ends up staying, "he knows clearly what is expected of him"? it would seem that an ultimatum has been given and Jacknshould be crystal clear about where he stands. I guess if he stays and doesn't live up to the expected standard, he will be in the seconds and let go this time next year.
  14. From the club... "hogan is not going anywhere" but, as others have said here, anyone is tradable for the right price - would have to be a massive win for us
  15. And neither would I, if it were us
  16. I'm enjoying this flag for the tigers for the following reasons: - I'm not in Melbourne - lots of my generation/ friends are tigers supporters - tragi/comedy that has been the tigers for the last 37 years means no arrogance from supporters currently - Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton 100% are spewing - shows Adam Treloar to have excellent ability to rate a list - gives us hope???
  17. This is from Greg Baum in The Age,... There was the crowd's presence, which was bigger as a roar is bigger than a woof. You have to believe it was a measurable force in this series and finale. The parenthesis here is an outsized fail for the AFL, who at every turn turn this day overlaid artificial, amplified, extraneous sound over the most spine-tingling naturally-occurring noise in the competition. It's a turn-off; turn it off. AFL catering for mindless bogans, (not that all bogans are mindless or all mindless people are mindless)

  19. Yeah I'm of this opinion too. He'll always be ultra bonded if they win, but he'll have no guilt if he leaves. I feel a bit for the crows after what they have been thru and losing quality players to other clubs. Winning the flag would help my guilt too!
