  1. One key element of any successful business 58er is communication. The club should be communicating to its members - not the other way around! They want our money, yet treat us with disrespect. Just not professional enough in my view, and must improve.
  2. Interesting that Max - on his and Gus's podcast - went to great lengths to talk up Deakyn Smith - "he can really play" - with what sounded like a plea to have him drafted. But not one word about Kobe though. Perhaps we DLanders have been hyping the wrong player (?)
  3. I think one consequence of this rule change will be that, with the man on the mark anchored, it may well be so much easier to determine when the player with the ball moves off his mark, and hence many more play ons will be called, as opposed to 50m penalties imposed.
  4. My god. It’s like looking in a mirror.
  5. Of course they did Old Dee. Haha. I would never have guessed you’d think the worst in this situation.
  6. With the greatest respect Old Dee, can I ask why your posts are always so negative? (And I don’t want to hear about the last dreadful 56 years again!) I love DL - I can always get some facts, a lot of BS, and some laughs - all of which I enjoy. I even enjoy the kooks on here. But when every post from a lovely old man is always so negative, it’s such a downer.(and I have no wish to turn you off - just want more “up-beatness” In your tone). just once I’d luv to hear you say something positive. And that does not include you saying that you’re positive that you are a pessimist!
  7. Luci, I would think that based on public knowledge of events past, the vast majority of people would say that Eddie had to go - that the Club would now be better off without him. And the realization of that fact, given the size of his ego, must be such a humiliating, devastating and earth shattering awakening for Eddie, you have got to wonder how this will affect his mental health. I hope he has close friends and family supporting him in this regard. Given that we have all got what we had hoped for - and we have had our say on the matter - perhaps its now time to be more considerate of his state of mind - there is no honour in kicking a man when he is down.
  8. We really don't have much to talk about, do we!
  9. As the high profile leader, he should have immediately stepped down when Collingwood received the report back in December - but he didn't. He had a second opportunity after his "proud day" gaff - and again he didn't step down. As a result of the public backlash and his inaction, it is my belief that he has been forced to step down - most likely by the sponsors'. Had he stepped down when the report was received, he would have left with public respect for accepting the blame. Had he stepped down after "proud day" the public would have acknowledged that he does finally "get it" and he would have left with some shred of dignity. Instead he had to be pushed out - so he is now as ex president with his reputation in complete tatters, likely to be forever labelled as a racist (or for condoning racism), and whatever good he did for Collingwood over those 22 years probably now forgotten by most, except perhaps for the die-hard Collingwood fans. I agree - it's a sad, humiliating day for Eddie.
  10. Great effort ladies! Congrats. I’ll let the coaches focus on where improvements lie - I’m just thrilled with another win. Go girls!
  11. Personally, I'd call that a demotion.
  12. Not me Binny - no way - I'm the one taking the pic.
  13. Great first post BP - welcome.
  14. Thanks Picket - great report.
  15. The report by Barrie Cassidy (a Collingwood supporter) is just the perfect summary of this whole sordid situation. Eddie gotta go - and now!
  16. Luci, does it say "made by many" or "made by eddie"?
  17. Just viewed the training photos. What stood out to me was how much Trent Rivers has filled out since last year. Of all our recruits selected in the past two drafts, I believe he will end up proving to be our most important selection of them all.
  18. Brilliant Deespicable, thank you. You can go and report again any time you want.
  19. haha, I don't see why not Picket - why just 2 weeks ago i nominated him for a Brownlow by 2024.
  20. Welcome DR - you and Werridee will get on like a house on fire.
  21. As much as I luv what Jayden can (occasionally) bring to the table, it concerns me that after 6 (?) years at the club, we haven't been able to find a permanent role for him. We started him in defense - and loved his run off half back - then tried him on the wing, then moved him forward for a couple of years (where he has been one of our top goal kickers for that time), and now we have swung full circle and, if reports are correct, we have him training with the backs again. By now he must be the most well rounded player in the squad - or the most confused. The fact that he hasn't found a permanent home is a major concern for me. Is this the fault of our development team and our selectors, or does the problem lie with Jayden himself for not stamping his name on a particular role? Many posters have stated, his defensive skills need to improve. Others have included that his field kicking skills are lacking - yet he is one of our most accurate kicks for goal. Personally i'd like to see him provide the dash off half back again if we can afford to lose him from our forward line. But i really feel we have failed in our proper development of Jayden, but hope that with our new coaching team we can at last find the best role for his unique talent, and develop him to own that spot.
  22. You are correct Nev. Scully's father in law is Gavin Robertson who did have brain cancer, but I thought he was one of the very few lucky ones who had survived the battle. Whether this has anything to do with his step -away from football, I don't know.
  23. SONS that you for your response. Like all DL's, I am really hoping that Kobe makes the grade. All the evidence to date however does not suggest that. So when you stated Kobe had "the talent and the tricks" it sounded as though you had evidence to the contrary which we all would have welcomed. Hence my question. There was no "dirt" thrown at you, nor was I targeting you "to get my thrills". I simply wanted to know whether your statement was based on fact or simply your opinion. No problem either way, but thanks for clarifying. This is an opinion board, and as you rightly say, everyone is entitled to express their opinion. The problem for me is when opinion is disguised as fact (unintentionally or not), which in your case (particularly as you are a creditable poster), builds up hope in the reader that may not in fact be warranted.
  24. I was asking SONS how he knows that Kobe has the "talent and the tricks", as it obviously hasn't been demonstrated to date if you can believe the draft. While i certainly hope he is the goods, in contrast, some people who have seen him play have said that he is very average in terms of underage skills. You obviously don't know the answer to that question either Nudge, as all you can tell me is to "ask around". Well i was asking around and nobody can confirm if in fact he does have the "talent and skills" or is it simply a case of wishful thinking by the original poster (and perhaps you). If you do know then please enlighten us all. (I note that SONS hasn't responded to my question, nor Dazzledavey36's similar question).
