  1. It’s the attitude we need to drop. Why would you post that, making yourself look like a fool and basically giving all the opposition clubs the fire they need against us? How many times that fool has been used against me when debating. He’s a disgrace
  2. It’s probably best not to get beat by under a goal. I doubt my dad’s heart could take it. 1988 dad had the TV set up in the garage with his mates coming over. I previously explained how he had no real expectations but went ballistic for that brief moment we led. The rest was awful. I remember the pain was too much for me. Ended up watching the Olympics. 2000 I was an adult. I definitely appreciated it more. I got out all my old supporter gear and decorated my living room. My younger brother came around and we watched it together. I knew we were never going to win, but seeing how we played against them earlier in the season, we could have done a lot better than that. Sad but I promised not to be angry at them and I wasn’t. Unfortunately had to work that night. Came back late and brother was already asleep. Put on the old grand final of the 60’s vhs and watched the brief footage from our 1960 and 1964 triumphs. I though to myself “this is all we have of a demons premiership.” Went to bed really low and upset. Had a date the next afternoon and canceled it. Didn’t feel up to anything. I can only Imagine the other scenario if we’d win. Would probably have ended up with the guy, married with kids instead of being a spinster who lives on their own ?
  3. Don’t they officially publish numbers once it’s closed? Doesn’t it happen in July?
  4. Feel for you. I buy some for my nieces/nephews but they’re grown out of them in a few years ? The younger ones are all hand me downs. One even has the woollen one we got handed down my my older brother. Would give you ours if it wasn’t about to be given to my niece. Maybe try eBay?
  5. Is 6 the top? If not why are people rating Tracc to low?
  6. I can’t even post in game day anymore because I’m tired of every time the opposition scores they rant about how crap our team is. They won’t be happy unless we keep the opponent scoreless (which has never happened.) And if we lose (the perfect season, including finals, has never happened) I’m so tired of the “I’m over this club” and “that’s it for me. Sick of demons” and “I’m returning my membership.” FSS if that’s true, do it. Go be a fair weather supporter. Change your team each year depending on which team you follow. I think the culture of failure is so entrenched with some they accept it as inevitable and embrace the ridicule, like this Clown here.
  7. Having no interest/knowledge about soccer I’ll have to take your word over it. All I’m saying here really is this has never happened ever. Never have I seen a season where pundits are saying WE are the cup favourites. Never have I had an answer to the debate such as “well our teams the best at the moment. Never have I seen them at the top this time in the season. Never have my team been the admiration of all the other teams on the league. Never have I see us sit on top of the perch and look down on everyone else. I’ve seen seasons were we were celebrating when we won less games than this. I’ve seen many where we were the joke of the league, the recipient of puns and jokes. Even in my office environment at work I was ridiculed. For years we were the example of what a team shouldn’t be. The sight of Melbourne failing was so common it was seen as expected and the norm. Now the opposite is happening. We are feared and seen as the team to beat. I have never experienced this. Even as well as we played in 2000, deep down I knew every team was playing for second place that year. Yes I know it’s a long time to go. Yes we can still falter. But even if it’s for this brief moment we are the pride of the league. It’s something I’ve never experienced before and may never experience again. I just love going into work after the weekend, smiling, not facing embarrassing jeers about how “s**t” my team did on the weekend. It’s nice being looked up to not down on. I can only imagine how my nieces/nephews (the closest I’ll ever have to having children) feel. I imagine all the ridicule and teasing they must have got through the years and the pressure to change to a “popular” winning team. Now they must be smiling and the admiration of all their classmates. Anyone who has children must have felt guilty about all they put their kids through. Now they can see them as sitting on the top of the winners pile.
  8. But didn’t they struggle to put Collingwood away? If magpies had kicked more accurately they may even have pinched it
  9. Oh I know all this. But right now we are the premiership favourite and the best team in the league. Maybe we won’t win it, maybe we have peaked, maybe we will choke. But right now we are the best team in the league. The media has said we are outright premiership favourite. This has never happened to us in my (not saying my age) lifetime. I’m going to enjoy it while I can. Let’s just lap it up while we can. It may never happen again.
  10. But we haven’t yet. Yes it could happen but I haven’t seen this consistency and brilliance in a team in my lifetime. Even both our grand final years we were nowhere near this good. I was still of the radar in 1964, so I’ve never seen a team like this. Only brief flashes. 1987 I think we can take the fact that we emotionally and physically drained the hawks and it’s really what stopped them from mounting any challenges against the the blues. I think the same would have happened to us. It was an exhausting preliminary final and we would have been without several of our players. I mean, Hawthorn still celebrate that victory to this day only to go on and… lose. Would it have been that great losing two grand finals in a row? 1988 was exciting but even though we beat Hawthorn they just went on a run and it would have been a massive upset if we’d beaten them. I remember dad being more celebrating of making the grand final the week rather than any expectation of winning. He went absolutely nuts when we briefly hit the lead, albeit by one point. He got excited after the first goal in the second quarter then it was just a huge disappointment the rest of the day. He told us making it was no mean feat and to take it for what it was. I never thought we’d wait so long for our next one. To me, 2000 was even more disappointing.
  11. We made a late rush and only just qualified by winning our last game and hawks JUST beating cats. We’d been pretty inconsistent all year. I still say that even if Bucks hadn’t kicked that goal and we’d made it, we never would have beaten Carlton in the grand final. We’d lost easily to them and would have been without Wilson, Lyon and Flower. Still hurts though
  12. I’m saying what the papers are saying. We are THE favourites.
  13. This is the best I’ve ever seen us. This is the first time in my lifetime that we are the premiership favourites. Sure we’ve had other great season like in 2000, but that was a year when Essendon was always going to be premiers. I don’t think there’s any team we can’t beat this year. Definitely our best season since 1964
  14. I thought we were done in the first half. So glad we didn’t just fall in a hole and give up. Well deserved win again one of the giants in the league atm. Had to get up early to watch the replay as I was a bit drunk last night. Really enjoyed the game. Petracca back to his best, TMac still on his amazing return to form, Kozzie tried hard and Oliver was great, even if a teeny bit subdued from recent form. Great game demons, keep it up.
  15. I saw what he said in the club website. He’s not bothered by being relocated and they’re up for the challenge. Maybe people need to settle down a bit. Our players are confident and that’s the most important thing. We’re in a good position at the moment and I think we can keep it up
  16. I don’t want it to be either. But if if it was that or nothing, I know what’d I see. I mean a lot of people may not even be able to go if we make it regardless where it was held. Look at it like this. Win a cup there then back it up with one at home. I am hoping that this will just be a short one like earlier this year. If everyone follows rules this might be temporary
  17. You get good and bad fans. I was surprised after they won in 2016, how many people in the FootscrayNotWesternBulldogs forums were saying how much they’d love to see us and St Kilda win one next: ” Spot on Elsternwick Pierre- everyone's 2nd team it is like the saying - "With all due respect to...." Well no need for that anymore, personally I would like the 2017 Grand Final to be - Melbourne v St Kilda and who ever loses that Grand Final, to bounce back in 2018 and win it. Then again 4 in a row would be alright to, but i am not greedy. Once Melbourne and St Kilda have both won it, then its back to "every man for himself" “
  18. I think Kozzie needs to relax a bit. Every time the ball comes he’s so anxious to get it and kick it immediately. I think he tries too hard. I like his enthusiasm but he needs to tone it down. You can’t do something spectacular every time you touch the ball
  19. The AFL report didn’t even mention Harmes in the best for Melbourne. Did they even watch the game?
  20. Lol loved how we dropped one game by one point last week and the people suggesting that our season was over. A great win. All game we never look threatened and led all night. Clarry, Harmes, Sparrow, what can I say? Brilliant. Gawn improving too. A lazy last quarter where we only scored one point, but a great game to watch. We proved we can beat the top teams. Bring on Brisbane. Surely Footscray are no longer premiership favourites. Top of the ladder back where we belong ??
  21. Ok I’m sure this has been asked before but why aren’t we wearing our indigenous jumpers?
  22. I think we have a better chance than we did on 2000 or 1988. Long way to go, but apart from Port and Footscray, we’ve beaten the top teams
  23. I can’t speak for all, but most of us will wear a cardy in the winter and a sleeveless top in summer
